Chapter 99: Teaching Henry a Lesson
Erick smiled and explained, "I really didn't mean anything by it. You should have noticed I didn't report anything, nor did I have my people report anything. I don't know why the police... ah—"
Before he could finish, Henry kicked him in the stomach, causing him to collapse onto the desk. Henry followed up with three quick kicks, dislocating his wrist, elbow, and shoulder joints.
"Remember," Henry said to Erick, who was sweating profusely, "I promised your aunt I wouldn't hurt you, as long as you cooperated. Every time you try to play tricks, think carefully. I always collect my dues with interest."
"Ow, ow, brother, you, you misunderstood... okay, okay, I won't argue. I won't dare next time."
Despite his words, Erick cursed inwardly: Damn it, I swear I'll get my revenge. If I don't get rid of this country bumpkin, I won't be called Erick.
Henry said, "Let's complete the handover now. Pack up the stuff in the safe, call the finance people, and sign the share transfer agreement. Then leave and never come back!"
Erick smiled, "Brother, I told you, not all the shares are mine. Even if I agree to transfer them all, others will come looking for you. Don't say I didn't warn you."
"Then tell me, who else has shares?"
"These people have special identities. They won't use their real names, and the shares aren't even in their hands."
"If you insist on not telling me, then let them come find me!"
"Alright, I'll sign the agreement."
Following Henry's instructions, Erick called the financial director, Preston, and asked him to transfer all the company's shares to Henry.
Preston stared at Erick, hoping for some hint, but Erick gave none.
Henry asked Preston, "Any problems?"
Preston looked at Erick again, who still gave no hint, and then said, "Erick, this isn't right. The company's shares aren't all yours. How can you transfer them all to this gentleman?"
Erick said, "That's none of your business. Just do as you're told and draft the share transfer agreement."
Preston said, "Erick, I can't draft this agreement. I suggest you gather all the shareholders. Otherwise..."
Henry interrupted, asking Erick, "Who else is in finance?"
Erick replied, "There's an accountant named Vanessa."
Henry said, "Call her in."
Erick immediately called Vanessa in.
Henry had expected women working in the bar to either be as flashy as the hostesses or as seductive as Victoria. But Vanessa was completely different.
Vanessa, 26 years old and a graduate of Harbor Springs Finance Academy, looked very fresh and innocent, with a demeanor more fitting for an accountant or teacher.
"Are you Vanessa, the company accountant?" Henry asked directly before Erick could introduce her.
Vanessa looked at Henry in confusion, then glanced at Erick for confirmation.
Henry continued, "I'm Henry. From today, I'm the owner of the Violet Bar, the legal representative. Starting now, you're the financial director. Go draft an agreement for Erick to transfer all his shares to me, immediately!"
Vanessa was stunned. She glanced at Preston, who stood there with a grim face. She then looked at Erick, who reluctantly nodded.
"Alright," Vanessa said and left.
Henry then told Preston, "From now on, you're no longer an employee of the Violet Bar. Go settle your wages with finance."
Preston stared at Erick, who shrugged helplessly.
Preston didn't even look at Henry and turned to leave.
Erick sighed deeply and asked, "Can I take the stuff from the safe now?"
Henry asked, "Where's the company seal?"
"In the safe."
Henry said, "Take out the seal, then get someone to move the safe out."
"Alright." Erick then asked, "Since you've achieved your goal, can I have those three hard drives back?"
Henry said, "Even if I give them back, I'd have copied the contents. If you insist on having them, it would be hard to tell who leaked the contents, you or me."
Erick was speechless.
Henry continued, "Out of respect for your aunt, I advise you to forget about the hard drives. There's at least a few million in the safe, enough for you to start a legitimate business. Remember, don't mess with people you can't handle, or you'll find yourself back to square one or even in jail."
Erick cursed inwardly: Damn brat, you win this time. But I swear, I'll be back one day, and you'll be nothing but dust by then!
Erick took out a briefcase, packed everything from the safe, and handed the company seal to Henry.
Henry said, "And your personal seal. I'll return it once all the paperwork is done."
Reluctantly, Erick handed over his personal seal, saying, "Let me remind you, not everyone is someone you can mess with. The people on those hard drives, for example, you better not get any ideas."
Henry nodded, "Thanks for the reminder. Now, get out!"
As Erick passed by the finance office, Vanessa came out with the transfer agreement. Seeing him, she asked, "Erick..."
Erick interrupted, "Just do as he says."
"What about my situation..."
Erick said, "Handle it yourself. You can stay silent or call the higher-ups. I have no say in the Violet Bar anymore."
With that, he walked downstairs.
