Chapter 124: She's No Saint Either

"Wait," Bryan asked, puzzled, "How do you know this? Did Henry tell you?"

Ella shook her head, "He asked me if, besides you, our parents had given away another son."

Bryan rolled his eyes, "That's it? Didn't our parents deny it? Even if we had a brother given away, Henry might have just heard rumors. Why are you so sure he's talking about himself? Don't forget, he has a brother. Isabelle lives above his brother's place, and there's no indication they're not biological siblings."

Ella explained, "You're trained in psychology too. Didn't you notice how our parents were visibly shocked when I asked? I'm sure we have a brother they gave away. And I'm equally sure Henry is that brother!"

"Why?"

Ella continued, "This morning, Mom went shopping, and Henry must have seen her. At first, he didn't know we were siblings or that I was part of our family. After learning about my relationship with Mom, his attitude towards me changed drastically. Initially, I thought he had bad intentions, trying to flirt with me. But later, I sensed that his gaze lacked any evil intent and instead had a kind of indescribable familial affection. His smile reminded me of you when you were little. It made me wonder why a man I had no connection with would suddenly make me think of you instead of other men who pursued me. Maybe it's because of the familial bond. His gaze towards me was one of kinship, not love."

Bryan knew Ella had a sharp sixth sense and was never wrong about people. Growing up, Bryan could easily fool their parents and others but never his sister, which often led to her beating him.

But Henry looked so different from them. How could they be related? If they resembled their mother, Henry didn't look like their mother or their father.

Ella asked, "What happened today? What did you discuss at the café, and why was Nathan injured while you were unharmed?"

Bryan recounted the events in detail.

Ella was furious, "Why didn't you tell me earlier that he had a Desert Eagle?"

Bryan replied irritably, "You're my sister, my real sister. Even in uniform, I couldn't watch you fight a desperate criminal. Since you say he's our brother, I'm telling you this. I don't believe you'd send your own brother to his death! If you don't, then you won't be in danger."

"And then?"

"Then Isabelle stepped in, shielding him from the Desert Eagle. That's why he left. Don't think he spared me because he saw me as his brother!"

Ella nodded, "At that time, he hadn't realized we were family, and he must have had some evidence. Today was probably his first time seeing Mom."

"Isn't it simple?" Bryan suggested, "Get some of Henry's hair and do a paternity test with Dad."

Ella said, "A DNA test is definitely needed. You said he liked Isabelle too, right?"

Bryan nodded.

Ella continued, "Watch, he won't compete with you for Isabelle anymore and will treat you like a real brother. Try meeting him tonight, and you'll see his attitude."

Bryan was skeptical.

"By the way," Ella asked, "Are you marrying Victoria to spite Dad?"

Bryan replied, "More than that, I'm threatening him!"

"Why?"

"I found out he secretly started a company and keeps a lot of women! I want him to know that if I can uncover his affair with Victoria, I can find out about his other secrets too!"

"Don't be ridiculous," Ella scolded, "A lot of women?"

Bryan retorted, "Do you know about the Convent on the outskirts?"

"Yes."

"Dad fully funds it, and all the profits from his company go to that Convent."

Ella was speechless.

After a moment, Ella sighed, "I used to resent Mom's nagging, but now I see she's a suffering woman."

Bryan scoffed, "She's no saint either!"

Ella looked at Bryan in shock.

Bryan continued, "Do you know why she's so keen on you marrying Erick?"

Ella was puzzled.

Erick was just a small-time businessman with some money, nothing significant in her mother's eyes.

Bryan explained, "Mom has an inappropriate relationship with Erick's uncle, Kevin, and there's evidence in Erick's aunt's possession. Erick fancied you, so he had his aunt intervene. One call from her, and Mom sold you out!"

Ella was confused, "Where did you hear all this? I've never heard of it."

Bryan said, "I have my sources! I used to be proud of our parents' success, always defending them against claims that all wealthy people have dirty histories. But then I learned the truth. Our family made the most money when Kevin was the top official in Harbor Springs. He must have given us many lucrative projects. I thought we were born with silver spoons in our mouths, destined to inherit The Davis Family Group. Now I see our parents owe a lot, and who knows what we'll inherit. And now, Henry shows up to claim his share. I just hope he's the only one, and no one else comes forward! But I still don't understand why they'd give him away, especially to a remote village."

Ella couldn't understand either and decided to go to the hospital to get answers from Henry.

On her way, she received two calls, one from Matthew and one from Quentin's brother-in-law, Ryan.
