Chapter 141: Disappeared

Henry had long noticed Vanessa's flustered expression every time she saw him, but he never thought that Vanessa might have feelings for him. He always believed that he was helping Vanessa and never questioned how she acquired her shares. Given the secret behind it, Vanessa's fearful demeanor seemed understandable.

"Henry," Brandon stood up immediately, looking somewhat embarrassed, "Why are you here so early?"

Vanessa seized the opportunity to excuse herself, nodding slightly to Henry before hurrying back to the finance office.

Watching her disappear through the door, Henry turned to Brandon, "Why are you here so early? You came home late last night, right? How's the bar doing?"

Brandon smiled, "Everything's fine. Fortunately, Victoria was overseeing the main hall, so I didn't have to manage much. Sean was also here the whole time. The revenue was comparable to usual. I wanted to familiarize myself with the operations, especially the financials, so I came early to talk to Vanessa."

Henry gave him a glance, "Is that all? Why did both of you turn red when I walked in?"

Brandon's face turned crimson, "Henry, don't joke about that. We just got here. I don't mind, but don't make Vanessa uncomfortable. We need her for the finances."

"Don't use work as an excuse. We're all men here; it's obvious what's going on."

Brandon chuckled awkwardly, "Vanessa is a college graduate and is pursuing her master's degree. How could she be interested in someone like me, with no education?"

"So, you do have feelings for her?" Henry said, "It doesn't matter if she's a graduate student. Don't forget, you're the deputy manager of the Violet Bar. Don't underestimate yourself. If you like her, go for it."

Brandon smiled shyly and quickly changed the subject, "By the way, Vanessa mentioned something. Besides the regular working capital, Erick used to collect cash from the front desk every night at eleven. Do you want to continue this practice and collect the daily revenue yourself?"

Henry asked, "Can't you collect it?"

Brandon explained, "I can, but you need a trustworthy cashier to deposit the money in the bank the next day. Vanessa also mentioned that it's not about trust. Typically, the owner or a family member should handle the cash. Management shouldn't deal with it directly."

Henry initially thought of having Isabelle manage his finances, but now...

Emily's image flashed in his mind.

"Alright," Henry said, "You collect the revenue every night as before. I'll have my sister-in-law come by the next afternoon to deposit the money."

"That's the best arrangement!" Brandon said, "Vanessa also suggested bringing Preston back. He was recommended by a state leader, and if you fire him without explanation, it might cause trouble for the bar."

Henry explained, "I didn't intend to fire anyone, but he tried to challenge me, so I had to show him who's boss. Whether he comes back or not, we'll see."

Brandon nodded, "I think so too. Keeping him means the favor is only with Erick. If someone higher up asks about him, rehiring him would put the favor in our hands. I'm just worried you might be too stubborn and refuse, making our work harder. So I'm reminding you."

Henry patted his shoulder, "Brandon, be extra careful these days. If anything happens, don't confront it head-on. Call me if you can't handle it. Last night's calmness is both good and bad. I don't think things will just settle quietly. It feels like the calm before the storm."

Brandon nodded, "I'm prepared. My principle is not to cause trouble but not to fear it. If something happens, I'll try to contain it. I won't call you unless absolutely necessary."

Henry felt completely reassured, knowing he had made the right choice in entrusting the bar to Brandon. His plan was to have Brandon manage the bar while he dealt with external issues with Jonathan and Daniel.

In the office, Henry called Jonathan and Daniel. Once they arrived, he took them to the hospital. Having witnessed Henry's ruthlessness several times, their courage had grown, and they were eager to prove themselves.

Henry had them buy two large bags of gifts and visit Henry and Zack in the hospital, leaving them bewildered. Especially Zack, who nearly wet himself seeing Henry, thinking Henry had come for revenge after Nathan tried to have him killed.

Henry had Jonathan and Daniel leave the gifts and told them to rest and recover before leaving. Henry and Zack were left in a daze, not knowing what to make of it. Zack immediately called Charles, who simply said, "Oh."

Charles understood that Henry was thanking him for his help and giving him face in front of the others. Not explaining the reason also helped maintain confidentiality in their circles. Charles thought Henry was good at handling people, but the blow Henry had dealt him was too severe to forgive easily.

Henry then visited Nathan and Zachary's rooms with Jonathan and Daniel. Both men turned pale with fear upon seeing them. Henry didn't trouble them, only asking about Samuel. Both swore they had lost contact with Samuel since the previous day. Henry left without further words.

Entering and leaving their rooms in less than a minute, he left them drenched in cold sweat. They all realized Samuel was hiding. But given Samuel's reputation, the previous day's incident wasn't that bloody or terrifying. Why would Samuel be so scared?

They were all curious.

As Henry and his men left the hospital, Brandon suddenly called, saying someone was causing trouble at the bar!
