Chapter 20: Beautiful Teacher
After hanging up the phone, Andrew let out a long sigh of relief. Although Jason didn't guarantee anything, with his connections in Harbor Springs, this matter could definitely be resolved. It was just a matter of how much money it would take.
When Andrew looked ahead, he couldn't see Henry and Emily anymore. Emily had taken Henry into a high-end clothing store, instantly attracting the attention of many salespeople and customers.
In a place like this, it was common to see wealthy men with their mistresses or rich women with their toy boys. However, a rich woman as sexy and beautiful as Emily, and a young man like Henry, handsome yet full of masculine charm, dressed in ordinary clothes, were truly a rare sight.
Men envied Henry for being able to be with such a beautiful rich woman like Emily. Women, on the other hand, envied Emily for having a young, handsome, and masculine toy boy like Henry.
Emily led Henry to the men's section and picked out a few T-shirts and casual pants for him to try on in the fitting room.
When Henry changed into the T-shirts and pants, his style instantly elevated several notches. The previous plainness and simplicity disappeared without a trace, and he now looked no different from a wealthy young man.
If it weren't for how they looked when they entered, onlookers might have thought they were a couple with extraordinary looks.
Seeing Henry like this, Emily inexplicably blushed. She bought two sets of T-shirts and pants for Henry, as well as a suit, two shirts, and a pair of leather shoes.
When they went to pay, Henry was surprised to see that it added up to over five thousand dollars. He clicked his tongue in amazement but tried to remain calm.
Originally, Henry was planning to change back into his old clothes, but Emily insisted that he wear the newly bought ones and even asked him to put on the leather shoes.
After Henry changed into the clothes and shoes, Emily picked up his old clothes and sneakers, ready to throw them in the trash. Henry quickly said, "I'll do it myself!"
Unexpectedly, Emily was quick and lifted his sneakers, only to be almost overwhelmed by the incredibly foul smell coming from them. She tilted her head and looked at Henry in disbelief.
Henry's face turned red, and he explained, "I have sweaty feet, so I didn't take off my shoes when we entered the room."
So that's why! It seemed he wasn't as uncultured as she had imagined.
After throwing the old clothes and shoes into the trash, Emily walked out of the store shoulder to shoulder with Henry, habitually reaching out to link arms with him.
Henry's heart raced! He wanted to pull his arm away but found himself reluctant to do so.
"Emily!"
Suddenly, a familiar woman's voice, as melodious as a nightingale, came from behind.
The voice was pleasant to Henry's ears, but it startled Emily. She quickly retracted her hand and turned around to see Jason's wife, Avery. She thought to herself, "Oh no, I wonder how long she'll gossip this time."
"Avery, hello! Are you also out shopping?" Emily forced a smile and greeted her.
Henry turned to look and was taken aback: "Wow, she's trouble!"
Avery was now the director of the development office, but she used to be a dancer in the Harbor Springs troupe. Later, she moved to the city's television station and became a host and station manager.
She had a tall and slender figure, with long, flowing hair, big watery eyes, flawless skin like Emily's, and a body somewhere between Emily and Isabelle.
She was sexier than Isabelle and slimmer than Emily.
She was already thirty-two this year and had a son in the first grade, but in Henry's eyes, she looked no more than twenty-five or twenty-six.
She appeared older than Isabelle but younger than Emily.
In fact, Emily was only twenty-eight this year, four years younger than Avery.
Avery raised an eyebrow and looked at Henry, asking Emily, "Who's this handsome guy?"
Henry felt a shiver down his spine from her flirtatious gaze and involuntarily shrunk his body.
Emily knew that Avery's ambiguous look wasn't directed at Henry but rather a misunderstanding of her relationship with him. She blushed and explained, "He's Andrew's brother, Henry. Henry, this is Jason's wife, Avery, who also works in the development office."
Henry smiled awkwardly at Avery and immediately looked away.
Avery was puzzled and asked, "When did Andrew's family have another brother? Are Andrew and Henry really siblings?"
To avoid unnecessary trouble, Emily said, "Of course, they are real brothers. Haven't you heard Jason mention it?"
"No, I haven't," Avery replied, "Does my husband know?"
"Of course, you can ask him when you get back."
Avery glanced at Henry again, then linked her arm with Emily's and teased in a low voice as they walked forward, "Emily, are you having an affair with this little brother of yours?"
It was clear that they were good friends, which was why she was making such a joke.
As soon as Emily heard Avery's voice, she knew she would be teased relentlessly. The blush on her face spread to her neck. "Can you be serious, Director Avery? This doesn't sound like something a leader's wife, let alone a leader, should say."
Avery turned to glance at Henry and then said to Emily, "You're being too serious in front of me. Look at his physique. You won't have to face Andrew like a resentful woman all the time. Make some effort with this little guy while he's still fresh. You might even get yourself a virgin!"
