Chapter 15: Drifting Off to Sleep
Andrew said, "I'll tell you more when I have time. I know you want him to integrate into society as soon as possible, but he spent the crucial years of his adolescence in prison. We should give him a gradual adaptation process.
Moreover, I thought these years of transformation would bring him back to his simple, kind, humble, and eager-to-learn childhood, but it seems he has become even more arrogant than before!
I am now considering whether it was the right choice to agree to temporarily accommodate him as the leader suggested, or if we should directly send him back to the village."
Emily was taken aback, "What? The leader approached you?"
Andrew nodded, "Yes, when he was sentenced, he was filled with resentment. The people in the village were worried that he would seek revenge when he returned, so they searched step by step, and finally, through the provincial authorities, they found the school, and I had to agree to temporarily take him in."
Emily looked at him with great surprise, thinking, "So, you didn't take him in out of brotherly love, but rather, you willingly agreed to accommodate him!"
No wonder he refuses to call you 'brother'!
Although Emily was not clear about the reasons behind this, Andrew's attitude was enough to prove that the bond between the two brothers was average at best, and it was even possible that there was no emotional connection at all.
Emily said, "Well, since the school leadership has approached you, let's try our best to accommodate him.
Don't forget, the school is preparing to promote you to associate professor. If we send Henry back at this time and something really happens, the school will have a hard time explaining to the provincial authorities, and your promotion will likely be jeopardized."
Emily's words sounded good, as if she was solving problems for the leadership and also considering Andrew's future.
But only she knew her true thoughts.
Andrew smiled bitterly, "It's good that you understand, so don't push him too hard."
Emily nodded, "I understand now. But for someone like him, we need to discipline him well. In the future, one of us will play the good cop, and the other the bad cop. You have to cooperate well."
Seeing the look of distress on Andrew's face, Emily added, "Don't worry, I won't let you down. I'll handle the difficult people, and you can deal with the good ones!"
Andrew chuckled, "But you also have to be careful. Look at how he dealt with the person upstairs. Women can be ruthless too."
"What's there to be afraid of? I'm his sister-in-law!" Emily said, "He spent so long in prison, he must have learned some social norms, right? I don't believe he has become completely lawless, looking down on everyone, even hitting his own sister-in-law!"
After speaking, Emily opened the door and knocked on the door of the second bedroom.
Andrew asked puzzled, "What are you doing?"
"I'm calling him to get up and go to the shopping street to buy clothes."
Before Henry could open the door, Emily twisted the doorknob and saw Henry lying on the bed, snoring.
What Emily couldn't tolerate the most was that Henry was still wearing his sneakers. Not only did he leave shoe prints all over the clean room, but he didn't even take them off while sleeping in bed?
Originally, Emily thought Henry had some bottom line, but she didn't expect him to have no manners at all!
Andrew was about to pull Emily away, but it was already too late.
Emily walked to the side of the bed and pushed Henry's shoulder, "Hey, Henry, get up, get up!"
Henry mumbled in a daze and turned to face the inside.
"Henry, get up, get up!"
Emily continued to push Henry's shoulder, but unexpectedly, Henry suddenly turned around and kicked Emily in the abdomen.
With a thud, Emily was kicked and sat on the ground.
Andrew was shocked and exclaimed, "Henry, what are you doing? She's your sister-in-law!"
But Henry continued to snore.
Andrew quickly helped Emily up from the ground.
Emily didn't know where she found the courage, or perhaps she was a little angry and embarrassed.
She stood up and kicked Henry's buttocks with her foot, "Henry, get up for me!"
Although she was wearing slippers, the kick was quite heavy.
Henry's snoring stopped, and he slowly turned around, opening his eyes in a daze. He saw Andrew and Emily standing by the bed and asked in confusion, "What's going on?"
Damn, did I just get kicked for no reason?
Looking at his appearance, he had no idea that he had just kicked Emily.
Andrew said, "Your sister-in-law just called you, and you kicked her to the ground."
Only then did Henry realize that Emily was looking at him angrily, but she still looked beautiful, like a cold beauty.
He wanted to apologize, but because Andrew was there, Henry coldly asked Emily again, "What's the matter?"
