Chapter 162: Do I Have a Chance
Ryan's expression inadvertently revealed his thoughts, prompting Ruby to clear her throat, worried he might say something even more offensive.
Ryan understood his wife's hint.
However, he couldn't hold back and said to Wyatt, "Even though I'm in plain clothes, too many people in Harbor Springs know me. We have rules that generally prevent us from attending gatherings.
If it's with my brothers, that's one thing, but eating with some random people and getting reported wouldn't be worth it!"
Henry immediately stood up, "Wyatt, big brother, big sister, I won't disturb you any longer."
With that, Henry walked out from behind Ruby.
Wyatt quickly stood up, pulled out a business card, and handed it to Henry, "Henry, if you ever get a chance to come to the restaurant, don't forget to call me."
Henry took the card without showing any emotion and said, "Thank you."
Though Henry appeared expressionless, he was puzzled: Why is Wyatt being so polite to me?
"Sorry," Henry said, "I don't have a business card. How about I give you my phone number?"
"Sure, call my number."
After Henry dialed Wyatt's number, Wyatt even thanked him.
After Henry left, Ryan, looking puzzled and annoyed, asked, "Wyatt, what's going on today? He's just a country bumpkin. Why are you giving him so much face?"
Ruby couldn't hold back any longer and frowned at Ryan, "You ask Wyatt what's going on. What's wrong with you?
Wyatt is the owner here and is polite to all the guests. It's good business practice.
Besides, we're here to discuss something. Even if we don't make a new friend, there's no need to make an enemy like you did."
Ryan retorted, "He's just a country bumpkin who thinks he's great because he fought a few times, and he even beat up your brother, my brother-in-law. What's wrong with showing him some attitude?
Do you think he willingly gave the 500,000 today?
He might go out tonight and ask your useless brother for it back tomorrow. I treated him like that to make him remember me.
If he dares to mess around, next time it won't be the precinct's interrogation room; I'll throw him straight into jail!"
Ruby was about to say something when the waiter brought in the food.
After the waiter left, Wyatt said, "Ryan, let me remind you, this kid isn't easy to deal with. You'd better be careful."
Ryan was taken aback, "Wyatt, that doesn't sound like something you'd say!"
Wyatt said, "I'm just warning you not to be fooled by his appearance. Anyway, I've eaten. You continue. I'm leaving."
After Wyatt left, Ryan blinked, pondering what Wyatt's words meant.
At that moment, Ruby's phone rang, startling all three of them, making them think it was Henry calling.
Quentin felt especially nervous.
Ruby saw it was Victoria calling and answered, "Victoria, what's up?"
Hearing it was Victoria, Ryan and Quentin both sighed in relief.
Victoria said, "Ruby, come out for tea at the Blue Sky Café across from the bar."
Ruby asked, "What's up?"
"Our boss invited you. He hopes you can come alone. If you're unwilling, I'll let him know now."
"Okay, I'll be there soon!" Ruby hung up.
"What's going on?" Ryan asked, puzzled.
"Nothing," Ruby said, "One of their girls has a gynecological issue and asked me to check it out.
I won't eat. You two continue."
With that, Ruby left with her bag.
Henry hadn't left the hotel after stepping out. Instead, he went down to the third floor and called Victoria, asking her to invite Ruby out.
Soon, Victoria called back, saying Ruby had agreed.
Henry smiled.
He had two main reasons for inviting Ruby out immediately.
First, he wanted them to leave separately so he could teach Ryan a lesson he wouldn't forget.
Second, he disliked Ryan and felt Ruby had a good impression of him.
Whether out of revenge against Ryan or a desire for a woman, he wanted to get Ruby.
He hadn't been this lustful before, especially spending his teenage years in prison, where his desires couldn't manifest.
His recent interactions with women made him yearn for one by his side, especially after failing with Avery today. He was eager to try with Ruby.
"Victoria," Henry asked, "Are you close to Ruby?"
"Yes," Victoria said, "She's a gynecologist. When our girls have issues, they privately consult her.
She comes to my bar's lounge to treat them, charges a high fee, and doesn't go through the hospital."
Henry asked, "She's so pretty, and her husband is so unappealing. Haven't you heard any scandals about her?"
Victoria smiled and asked, "Henry, do you like her?"
Henry said, "It's not about liking. Her husband is so infuriating that I want to put a green hat on him."
Victoria said, "If that's the case, I advise you not to show your anger towards her husband. You should tell her you like her."
"Why?"
"Women are like that. They don't want to be used as tools. If you're seeking revenge on her husband, she'll feel uncomfortable. If you like her, she'll be willing."
Henry asked, "Do you think I have a chance?"
Victoria asked, "Are all men a bit lustful?"
Henry nodded, "I suppose so."
Victoria said, "Let me tell you, all women have a bit of hidden desire. Some are just better at hiding it."
Henry nodded, "Got it."
Victoria added, "If you succeed, fine. If not, or if you anger her, call me immediately. I can help persuade her."
"Thank you!"
