Chapter 71: Are You Afraid?

Henry nodded, "Alright, if that's what we all think, then let's work together to make a name in Harbor Springs!"

Henry's capability and determination impressed them, making them believe in a brighter future.

Brandon then said, "Our first earnings, though hard-earned, should be used wisely. Let's keep a low profile. Many older gangsters are trying to go legit. We should start clean to avoid complications later."

Henry smiled, "Brandon, you're wise and farsighted. We're still young."

Brandon laughed, "Don't say that. I'm only a few years older, not an old man."

Henry replied, "From your words, it's clear you're a strategist. We might be good fighters, but you're the brains. You should lead our team."

Brandon shook his head, but Henry continued, "Don't refuse. You're the wisest and bravest. You risked your life to warn us about Charles. Without you, we might have fallen into his trap."

Jonathan said, "Brandon is our brother for years. He's a great strategist but lacks the presence to lead."

Daniel agreed, "Henry, Brandon impressed us today, but he doesn't have the aura of a leader. If it were him holding the gun to Charles, Charles wouldn't have surrendered."

Brandon nodded, "You only see part of it. Henry is not just a fighter; he's smart and has a strong sense of the bigger picture. Compared to him, I'm just clever in specific situations. For big decisions, I get confused."

Jonathan laughed, "Henry, let's not dwell on this. It could cause discord."

Daniel changed the subject, asking Brandon, "Weren't you scared when you warned us?"

Brandon smiled wryly, "Of course I was scared, shaking all over. But I thought if you guys got hurt, I'd be in trouble too. If Charles killed you, he wouldn't spare me either. Don't laugh; I know Henry wasn't scared, but were you?"

Daniel laughed, "I was terrified, completely blank. I only fired after Jonathan did."

Jonathan said, "I forgot to reload. I fired at the taxi, thinking Charles was in the passenger seat, then regretted it, fearing I'd killed him."

Daniel added, "I was the same, but Charles's men must have thought we were cold-blooded killers."

They laughed, proud of their victory, which strengthened their bond. Jonathan and Daniel returned their guns and remaining bullets to Henry, but he let them keep the guns.

They offered to take Henry back to the hospital, but he said he had other business and headed to the Violet Bar.

Sean and his men were sitting in the hall. Isabelle had called him, unable to reach Henry, and urged him to help Henry secretly. Sean, assigned to watch the bar due to his injury, was furious and felt useless. Isabelle's anger and threat to end their friendship if Henry got hurt made him realize she truly liked Henry, which upset him.

He had no problem with Isabelle liking Bryan, a wealthy heir, but Henry? Just another thug, fresh out of prison. Could he love Isabelle as much as Sean did?

Sean, frustrated, hoped Charles would kill Henry.

At that moment, one of his men, sitting by the door, nudged Sean, who looked up to see Henry walking in.

Sean stood up, followed by his men. He knew Charles had taken all his men and a gun. If Henry was here, what happened to Charles?
