Chapter 100: Sigh

Vanessa watched him leave, hesitated, then knocked on what was now Henry's office door.

Henry was on the phone with Brandon, asking him to bring Jonathan and Daniel over, and also called Sean to come.

Hearing the knock, Henry called out, "Come in," and Vanessa entered.

"Henry," Vanessa approached the desk and handed over the agreement, "here's the share transfer agreement you requested."

Henry took it and carefully reviewed it, asking, "Did you just draft this?"

Vanessa shook her head, "No, the company already has templates for various agreements, including share transfers."

Henry handed her his ID, "Go get a personal seal made for me. From now on, replace all documents requiring Erick's seal with mine. Also, handle the change of the legal representative on the business license."

Vanessa knew Henry must have the company seal, so she asked, "For the change, we'll need Erick's personal seal."

Henry glanced at Erick's seal on the table, and Vanessa followed his gaze, staring at Henry.

For ordinary people, a personal seal might not mean much, but for a big boss like Erick, it represented all his assets. How could he have handed it over to Henry?

Vanessa knew Erick's backers and his other social connections better than anyone. Seeing Henry, who seemed so young, take over the bar overnight, she realized he must have significant backing or powerful parents. Otherwise, Erick wouldn't have left so quietly.

Realizing this, Vanessa understood that Erick wanted her to call Kevin, hoping for a clash between titans while he watched from the sidelines. She also realized that Erick had probably already called both Ruby and Kevin and hit a wall, which is why he was pushing her to make the call.

Regardless of the reasons, Vanessa sensed that Henry had a favorable impression of her, or he wouldn't have promoted her to financial director. She decided it was better to try her best than to call Kevin.

"Henry," Vanessa hesitated, "there's something I should mention."

Henry promptly said, "Speak."

"Preston is very capable and has strong connections. Are you sure you want to fire him without knowing his background?"

Henry replied, "I don't know his background, but if he doesn't listen to me, he has to go, no matter how strong his connections are."

"But..."

Henry asked, "Do you think you can't handle the financial director's job? If so, I'll find someone else, but Preston still has to go."

Vanessa said, "The director's job is actually quite simple. It's mainly about overseeing the big picture and handling financial public relations. As for the specific accounts, I've been doing them all along."

Henry nodded, "In that case, you take the role."

"Thank you, Henry." Vanessa continued, "One more thing, Erick didn't transfer all his shares to you. Some belong to other shareholders."

Henry asked, "Do you know who they are?"

Vanessa said, "Charles has 10%. He's a..."

Before she could finish, Henry said, "His shares have already been transferred to me."

Vanessa realized Henry must have dealt with Charles, which explained Erick's helpless departure.

Vanessa continued, "Harbor Springs University Vice President Jason has 10%."

Henry smirked, "Stop his dividends."

Vanessa noticed Henry handled Charles and Jason differently, giving her hope for her own shares.

She continued, "Another shareholder, Quentin, has 10%. His brother-in-law is Ryan, the deputy head of the Harbor Springs precinct's security division."

Henry asked, "What does Quentin do?"

"He runs a renovation company. He usually handles our bar's renovations. Oh, he sent someone to replace your office door today."

Henry said, "Stop his dividends too. If he asks, tell him to see me."

"Yes." Vanessa hesitated.

Henry asked, "Is there anyone else with shares? Just tell me."

Vanessa awkwardly smiled, "I have 5%."

Henry frowned, "Does Victoria have 5% too?"

"No," Vanessa immediately understood Henry's implication and explained, "Henry, I have no such relationship with Erick."

Blushing, Vanessa's face turned red.

Henry realized Vanessa was probably someone's mistress, perhaps a notable figure in Harbor Springs. He didn't know Vanessa was actually Kevin's kept woman.

Henry said, "You can keep your shares. Who else has shares?"

Vanessa didn't expect Henry to acknowledge her shares without questioning their origin, feeling very grateful.

"Henry," Vanessa said, "there are no other shareholders, but Preston was recommended by a city official. Firing him might offend the official."

Henry understood that Erick had set traps for him, involving William, Ryan, and Vanessa's backer. Erick had said nothing when Henry fired Preston, knowing it would cause trouble.

However, Erick had warned him earlier, so Henry was prepared.

Henry said, "Follow company procedures and process Preston's termination."

At that moment, Brandon entered with Jonathan and Daniel.

Seeing them, Vanessa prepared to leave, but Henry stopped her and introduced her to Brandon. He then told Vanessa, "From now on, this is Brandon Yuan, the company's vice president. When I'm not here, he has full authority."

Vanessa glanced at Brandon, then said, "Yes, Mr. Yuan," and bowed.

Brandon was stunned, thinking: What the hell? Did I just become the vice president of the Violet Bar overnight? Am I dreaming?

There was a knock on the door, and Henry called out, "Come in." Sean entered, looking confused when he didn't see Erick.
