Chapter 102: To cross my path

Robin

We ended up in the back of the car completely exhausted, making love all night long. For a moment, I doubted that the poor vehicle could withstand all the movement and jolts that Liam and I caused.

"So damn hot," he said, kissing my butt, my back and was on me touching me. Damn... this man was fire. I get some rest, and he went to get some water when he tells me some news.

"There's movement of men beyond the southern zone," he explains.

"Do you think it's the meeting we heard about on the radio?" I asked.

"Yes, it's very likely. Our Luna left the cave a few hours ago. It seems she went out to look for more supplies or maybe a way out. She left with the wolf and took all her things, we should protect her," Liam pointed out. We prepared and a few hours later we saw her from a distance.

I saw my friend walking happily through the forest, talking to the wolf. We tried not to get too close, and I think the wolf didn't notice us - or maybe he ignored us.

"That's a good sign, it means he trusts us," Liam said. But as night fell, we noticed something strange - or rather, my mate sensed that something was wrong in the forest.

"There are people here. They're following her, and we're close to the southern zone," he added, when I didn't quite understand what was going on.

"That isn't a good sign. Let's follow them," I told him. We walked through the forest at night, I'm scare. I trusted his abilities as he held my hand as we searched for these dangerous men.

"There..." he whispers and goes fast killing a man, then another, they were quiet waiting for any signal. Whenever one crossed our path in the darkness, Liam took him down without a sound. I knew they were fierce and skilled, but my mate was already showing ninja-like abilities.

"I'm sure there are more; they're going to attack Maddie. We have to stop them," Liam whispered to me, worried.

We followed the path and suddenly the forest ended abruptly. Beyond it was a small clearing close to a mountain.

"We were right," I sigh when we saw a lot of motorcycle activity.

"It's definitely them, the Night Wolves, this is the point of reunion" Liam growls, and we hid to listen. We were alone, spying a whole pack of wolves. And there was Gerard, I remember him, he looks fierce and angry.

"The human is close. It's only a matter of time before she'll hand over to us," I was so quiet that for a moment I thought I wasn't even breathing. I knew that my mate desperately wanted to hide me and get me out of there, but leaving me alone would also be disastrous.

"We have to catch her before the ritual ends," someone adds in a deep voice full of malice.

"He's right, alpha. If the human completes this, our chance to take control will be gone," says another. My mate was furious to hear these wolves trying to dominate a rite that should be sacred.

"Not only that, but a wolf appeared and she took care of it. The animal gained the girl's trust, and no human, Luna or not, should have the power of the wolves," Gerard said annoyed and the other wolves starts to howl.

"Not only that, she healed him. That's how the ritual is supposed to be tested," another added. I began to understand what my mate had told me: the ritual was not only about a Luna surviving alone in the forest, but also about proving her ability to protect the wolves, and she had literally done that. My friend is far more amazing than I imagined, and believe me, there's no one better than her in my eyes.

"We're going to surround her in the middle of the forest, she's moving," another wolf insists, I saw Gerard stand up, strong and terrible. His beard gave him a wild look, and I didn't need to know much about this world to see that he was completely different from my mates.

"We have to stop her! Where the hell are the councilmen? They said they'd be here today to hunt them down. They're liars, weaklings! They are stupid old wolves!" he added with a voice full of contempt.

"We'll have to do the dirty work ourselves, as usual," one tall, bold wolf growls.

"She won't be able to escape, and when we catch her, no one will be able to save her!" Gerard screams. I felt my heart pounding and Liam looked at me with scared but determined eyes. He knew they had to act fast.

"We'll crush the Three Dragons!"

"Moonvalley is fucking over!" they yell.

"We need help, mate. We can't do this alone. I have to try and contact Lionel," Liam said. He seemed very focused, and I thought he was succeeding when we heard a murmur. I start to get nervous and thought that maybe we could launch an attack; I still had my gun and it was loaded.

But the plan quickly fell apart when one of the wolves caught our scent in the air.

"There's someone... smells like a human, and it's a familiar scent," a wolf says.

"Go help Maddie, mate. I'll distract them," Liam whispered, and the whole thing seemed like a suicide plan to me.

"There's someone here!" one of Gerard's warriors growled, turning in our direction, and I ran. I heard Liam fighting behind me and turned to aim my weapon, but a wolf kicked it aside as I screamed. I ran through the dark forest, desperate and lost, but the night wolves were faster than we expected. Gerard moved forward with a sadistic smile, blocking my escape route.

"Look what we have here, the loyal beta and his fragile human bitch," Gerard taunted, his eyes gleaming with cruelty. I saw them dragging a wounded Liam and screamed.

"Robin!" he cried desperately, "Run!" But I was quickly caught by one of the wolves, who held me tightly, preventing me from screaming for help. Liam fought as hard as he could, but the numerical superiority of his enemies was overwhelming. Besides, they were young werewolves, not like the Council, and Gerard was an Alpha.

“No!” we cry and one wolf kick my mate. God no, please not, this isn't happening!

"You are no match for us, beta," Gerard muttered as he approached him. "And you, human, will learn what it means to cross my path. Take them away!"
