Chapter 5: Sleep with one eye open
Maddie
"Enough!" I yell, frantically pushing them away. They seem to snap out of some kind of spell and look at me in shock.
"Submit!" Logan shouts in disbelief.
"Enough of this nonsense! I know you and you know me! I know you haven't forgotten our encounter in the forest. Why do you think I would submit to you?" I ask, and they seem lost.
"Because you are human... and we are alphas. We still can't quite believe that this is true, but if it is… you must show your loyalty to us," Logan says, and if I wasn't so scared, I would laugh.
"Never... I would never be loyal to you or be anything to you. Less submit to you. Not after everything you've done."
"What we've done…?" Kurt asks.
"Because of you we lost everything, our land, our lives!" I scream.
"If we hadn't driven you out... you'd be dead!" Dominic shouts as if he can't believe it.
"None of this would have happened if the wolves hadn't interfered with our lives. We were doing just fine without you!" I shout upset.
"You mean you were perfectly happy in your ignorance. You've always interfered in the affairs of our species. Humans are too stupid and weak to realize that," Logan replies angrily.
"Yes, we really are fools..." I say suddenly and they look at me in confusion.
"We should have killed you when we had the chance, exterminated you as soon as we knew the truth," I add, and they growl.
"How dare you?" they yell.
"You couldn't have done it even if you wanted to. The strongest of you can't defeat the weakest of the wolves," Kurt says.
"Really? Because two of you have scars I gave you when I was fifteen, and they haven't healed yet..." I say, knowing I'm provoking them, but not expecting such a reaction.
Suddenly I was pinned against the wall, the three of them very close to me, growling and breathing heavily.
"Don't pretend to be smart, human... I don't know how you ended up in the hands of the enemy, or how you seem to be the person we were looking for... or how you can resist us. But I will unmask you, and when I do, it will be your end," Logan says.
"I don't know who you think you are, or how important you think you are, or if you are alphas o what the hell that means. You are an abomination! Do you think I've forgotten what you did to me at school? The taunts, the shoves, the bullying. What you did to my family back in the town? How you ruined my life? I could have had so many things if it wasn't for you!" I scream in anger.
"We are not responsible for the bad choices humans make, and even less for you being a loser all through school. Who wouldn't laugh at you?" Kurt replies.
"We should have finished you off... when we had the chance" Logan shouts.
"Maybe the enemy is right to fight you... You have a lot of muscles but little brain," I say and they look offended.
"You are so weak that you must already be falling for us. I'm sure you'll be begging us in no time. The bond between wolves is strong, but a human with a mate bond? You will fall hard for us," Dominic says with a malicious smile.
Suddenly I feel his hand squeeze my waist, Kurt caresses my neck.
“You will be moaning while we take you…”Logan whispers.
"Yeah! Keep dreaming!" Bond? What the hell was that?
"Listen to her heart beating desperately…”
“Do you want us, human? Have you fallen into our trap so quickly? They don't call us the Three Dragons for nothing, we are the most powerful heirs... and you're just a little human for three Alphas,' Dominic says, and I feel his knuckles brushing lightly against my knees, and I'm about to have a heart attack.
"We will play with you until we are tired. Until we expose the deceit, the witchery what you are into" they whisper to me.
Dominic comes closer, as if he can't contain himself, as if he has a great emotion that dominate him. I can see his bright green eyes, his thick hair... his red lips take my breath away.
He leans in, and I can almost feel his lips on mine, but I seize the moment and kick him with my leg, starting to flail wildly.
"Monsters! Animals! Beasts!" I yell, and they are so surprised that they let go of me. I run to the bed, to the corner pressed against the wall, covering myself and shaking.
Even though I don't know now if it was a good idea to go to the bed, I had nowhere else to go.
"What did you call us?" Logan says angrily, but he still doesn't come near me.
"Beasts! Monsters! That's what you are! All werewolves! Savages!" I scream.
"Is this witchcraft? How can she reject us?" Kurt asks his brothers, but they seem to have no answer.
"I would rather sleep in a bed full of snakes than be near you. I'd rather die than have you lay a finger on me again. I hate you. I despise you...if I could, I would kill you at the first opportunity."
I thought they would scream or even hit me. But they seem to be in shock.
"This is impossible," Logan says.
Kurt... looks hurt. What is happening to these wolves?
They go from anger to surprise, then to a kind of denial. Kurt leaves, and Dominic remains in the middle, his fists clenched and shaking.
"Take back what you said..." he says through clenched teeth, touching his knuckles with his thumb over a scar I gave him.
"Any fate is better than being next to you..." Logan growls.
"Don't say that..."
"Oh yes... I'll say it as often as you want to hear it. I'll kill you..." I swear to Dominic.
"You can't... you can't hurt us."
"Try me. I suggest you sleep with one eye open, wolf... because I'd kill you first," I say, and he grits his teeth.
"You don't know what you're talking about”
“You ask for this human: you won't get out of here. You won't see the sun... you'll stay alone and locked up. You won't see any of us until you apologize. Furthermore, you'll beg for our pardon, you will beg to have our hands on you" Logan says, looking into my eyes.
"Then we won't see each other again... at least something good will come out of this," I say defiantly.
"You'll regret this..." is the last thing they say before they leave and lock the door.
I stay in the room trembling, feeling fear, relief... and a kind of dread. I didn't like the look on their faces, I felt like I had hurt them.
But hadn't they hurt me? A thousand times? What's happening to me?
An eye for an eye. I wasn't lying, I don't know what they have in store for me, I don't know what will become of me, but I won't fall into their threats.
