Chapter 18: Fix it
Dominic
If everything that had happened, our struggles, our suffering, and the bad events that had kept me from sleeping for the past few hours had served any purpose, it was to remind me of something very important.
My father had always said that the moon goddess had a plan for all of us, and that even when it was strange and hard to understand, it all made sense.
He had always shared some of his wisdom with me and taught me everything he could.
I knew Logan was strong and Kurt was loved and admired, but I had to keep my head on my shoulders.
And even though everything my mate had said was true and I didn't know how to make it up to her, I also knew that Logan's denial, the fact that our enemies might have learned that we had a human mate... all this had to have a reason. It was part of our destiny.
She was human, and we Alphas debated whether to accept her. But the bond was there, not only attracting us, but driving us crazy. There was also desire, pure and powerful desire.
That kiss had opened the doors of perception for me, made me understand that the bond was strong. She was human, but she was connected to three alphas, triplets, who could use this moment to either completely break or unite.
Her lips were more delicious than I had imagined, and her body welcomed me so well that little sparks danced across my skin. I knew we would all get along well. Somehow she felt it too.
"This is going to work," my wolf Damiano said happily. We had tested our mate, felt what it was like to have her close, and felt her arousal as well.
I knew we could erase the supposed boyfriend from her memory, and if we did our part and were sincere... she would be ours. I was convinced.
At that moment, I wanted to release the painful hard on in my pants, thinking about that kiss. But if I didn't get to work soon, that kiss would be the only thing I would get from her, and I had set a goal to change what she thought of us. The bond would help me.
"You are a stubborn boy, and everyone will pay dearly for it! You put the pack in danger, and now it's possible that other packs know you have a human mate! Don't you use your fucking brain?" My uncle had scolded me, blaming me for everything that had happened.
"I'm very sorry, uncle. I'll fix it! I swear!" he was anxious and angry. I understand it, but when he mentioned that my mate wasn't and victim and that she was somehow involved with our enemies, I lost my shit.
"Don't you dare... to talk about my mate like that" I reply furious.
"Son..."
"Uncle don't..."
"Sorry, I'm just worried ¿Ok? You better fix this! I'll consult with the Council if they have any information and assess the situation with the other Alphas," he said angrily and left his office.
There was nothing left for me to do but try to solve this.
"Any news about Logan?"
"No, Alpha. We haven't seen him near the territory borders or nearby. There's no scent or trace of him," the warriors told me. Everyone was very worried.
"Then I'll go look for him right away." My brother was stubborn and bitter, but he had sacrificed himself for Kurt and me. I couldn't leave him. I would never abandon him.
"With all due respect, Alpha Oscar is not in the pack, Kurt is injured, Logan is missing... we can't risk anything happening to you," Lionel said.
"Besides, you said something was happening with the humans and the night wolves... they must be looking for you," Liam added.
"I guess you're right..."
"I will go explore, please stay here," Liam said.
When I returned to the infirmary, I saw my mate again... she was sighing and holding Kurt's hand.
I was glad she was with him and taking it so seriously, and it seemed to really matter to her. Another part of me was jealous that she was with him like that.
If I were the one who was hurt, would she be with me like that?
"I'm sure she would..." my wolf said in my head. I didn't believe it.
"I think there is small progress, Alpha... the bond is different with humans. But I'm sure it's there," the other twin, Lionel, appeared as if he could read my mind.
"Thank you, Beta, for the support..."
"Do you want us to go over everything that happened again to see if we can approach this problem differently?" he asked, and outside the infirmary I began to explain to him.
"Maybe we could look at this particular town, keep it under surveillance later, see the movements of the humans," he suggested, and it seemed like a good idea.
"But everything has to be very secret, Lionel."
"Understood... But what makes this town so special that the Night Wolves would be interested?"
"Good question. Wait... I think my uncle's office has a map of the human towns and the pacts," I explained, and we headed for my uncle's office.
But when I carefully opened the door, I noticed that it wasn't empty. I was quite surprised to see my aunt, Luna Vera, there.
"Dominic... What are you doing here?"
"Aunt... we just came to see some plans, you know, to expand the search the warriors are doing for Logan," I lie, but she looked nervous, as if we had caught her looking at something in particular.
"Of course, I was just organizing the desk a bit. You know how messy your uncle can be, and he's going through a lot right now," she said, looking at me as if it was my fault.
As soon as she left, Lionel and I looked at each other.
"I've never known what their dynamic is like. I always thought she was supportive of my uncle, but isn't it strange that she was here snooping through his things? She has her own office."
"Maybe, she's worried about everything that's going on," he said.
No doubt, weird things are happening in the pack.
