Chapter 43: Chaos in Moonvalley

Logan

"She's nowhere to be found!"

"No one has seen her!"

"How could she leave?"

My brothers, the twins, and the warriors shouted throughout the house, while I remained in shock. None of this was happening as it should have.

"Get out of my way! Can't you see I'm an alpha?" I demanded, pushing away the warriors guarding me.

The packhouse was in chaos; trackers and anyone who could help had been called to duty. I ran to the dungeons at full speed, feeling increasing pain. My wolf, Morgan, was howling in despair, and though I wanted to shut him up, his pain was seeping into every cell of my body.

"Arthur... tell me everything you know," I said to my contact, and he seems nervous. The dungeons were empty, just a few rogue prisoners, but all the activity was elsewhere.

"I know nothing, Alpha. I waited for you, but nothing happened. I didn't see the human, she was never here."

"Damn it!" I shouted desperately. "Where the hell is she?"

"But you wanted her gone, didn't you? You wanted her out of your brothers' lives. Well, she's gone," the man said, and I grabbed him by the collar in anger.

"Don't you understand? I wanted her under my control, in my power... not out there, who knows where!" I said, and he looked frightened. Then I let him go and started pacing.

"Are you sure you have no idea what happened? Did anyone see anything?"

"I don't think so, alpha. Everyone is working to find the human, even omegas," he replied, and I growled.

"Spread the word discreetly that I'll pay well to any wolf that brings me first information about her" I said and stormed out. I went to her room, where several wolves were searching, my bad mood increased; everything seemed normal in here, this didn't make sense.

"She left us because of what we did. We made her unhappy, we mistreated her, and she left," Morgan muttered.

"Enough!" I shouted, and my wolf continued to cry. A man must learn to control his wolf, or he will be its prisoner forever. When I arrived at my uncle's office, my brothers were already complaining.

"He shouldn't be here!"

"He drove her away! Bastard!" Kurt tried to grab me, but our uncle intervened.

"Stop this nonsense! Let's work as a team! Haven't you learned anything from what happened, you brats?" he shouted. I knew he had a special favor for me; in a way, I was his favorite. He had always been there to help and teach me when my father died. I was the heir, my uncle had no children. It was my right!

"It seems that they took the humans quickly, right at the moment of the party, which was the last time they were seen. With so many people, their scent was lost. We have no other clues at the moment, only the necklace that Alpha Kurt found," explained our head warrior, Rowan.

It belonged to our mother, and I felt a knot in my stomach. They had given it to her, and I had been so focused on fighting with her, scolding her, hurting her... that I hadn't even seen the necklace around her beautiful neck.

"We need to widen the search area; we need to go as far as we can," Dominic said. He had taken control here; I knew it. He wanted all the power for himself; he always had.

"I've called all the packs and our contacts. Eventually we'll get some news. I said someone important from the pack is missing; I couldn't give more details.

"Missing? This is a kidnapping, Uncle! A despicable attack right in the heart of Moonvalley! They have taken our Luna!" cried Kurt.

"We don't know that yet," I said angrily, my brothers glaring at me with hatred.

"What else could it be? The packs, our enemies, knew about her and took her when they had the chance. They knew it was the day of the ceremony, they knew we'd be distracted. They didn't attack us in battle, but did something more dangerous."

"That's why I told you it was risky to accept her!" I shouted, and they almost pounced on me, again.

"Calm down! Notify our allies, there are already several warriors nearby," my uncle demanded to Rowan. An idea began to grow in my head like a malicious seed, and I knew it wouldn't stop until I said it.

"What if she left freely?" I asked.

"What do you mean?" Dominic roared.

"Do you think she could?" Vera asked with wide eyes. A mate never left his or her soulmate, less an alpha. Of course, it wasn't common to have humans as mates.

"How dare you?" Kurt barked again; I was getting bored.

"She doesn't love you, brothers. What if she deceived us? She said everything was fine, you almost fucker her and ran like a bitch," I said confidently, and chaos almost broke out again.

"Robin would never leave us!" the betas shouted. Man, even those bastards dared to raise their voices at me.

"'Son of a bitch!" my brothers yelled at me, and again Oscar stood up, this time shouting authoritatively.

"Enough, you brats! We have to think and bring order! Logan, are you saying that the human is capable of leaving our powerful pack, full of wolves, security, warriors...?"

Excellent question, and... I didn't know how to answer. If I said it was possible, I would have to admit that the human was really badass, because doing something like that... would be very unlikely. Impossible, now that I think about it.

"No, she couldn't. Even with the pack distracted by the ceremony, there were warriors everywhere," the chief warrior said.

"And she is only a human" our uncle says, my brothers seemed angry. Now I didn't know what to do or say "I think we have to consider all possibilities until we have concrete proof of what really happened,"

"Uncle is right," Dominic growled, as if it was a terrible insult to even think that the human had left them. But they had an important point; maybe I was wrong.

She had broken my brothers' hearts in ways I could never have imagined. She was gone, and if possible, they loved her more than ever. I couldn't stop thinking about her myself; it hurt to imagine that we had really lost her.

"The warriors are searching the area, following the trail of the necklace and the footprints. I'll tell them to expand the area, especially the paths to the human towns," Rowan said.

"And let's keep an eye on our enemies in case they have something. Spread the word that whoever has her... is already dead," Dominic announced as if he were the boss. Suddenly we all received a message through the mindlink and a warrior opened the door.

"We found something, alphas," and show us a bag with a dirty and torn dress. My brothers gasped in horror, Kurt fell to his knees. I couldn't control myself.

It was her dress. They had really taken her.

We ran out of the office, my brothers heading for the woods, when a hand grabbed me and stopped me in an alley.

What the fuck...?

"Alpha, you said you'd pay for information... well, I have some on the human," she said.
