Chapter 172: Ambush from the Inside
"You need to go inside and hide, it's for a moment" I instruct as the people enter. Kurt said he was going to "clear out" the dungeons, whatever that means. We needed more space and safety. We needed to lock ourselves in and protect everyone.
My heart ached for the warriors who were about to face the enemy on the Boundary. This pack was mine, as were my mates. My parents were already hiding, I had to make them hide, just like Maddie's mother.
As I turned down a corridor, someone grabbed me and pushed me against the wall. My head hit hard, and my head started to spin. I was completely shocked to see that the one who had done this was Kevin.
"What are you doing here?" I asked in horror, quickly realizing that he had entered with the group of humans seeking refuge. All my alarms went off. "Help! Somebody help!" I cried in panic, fearing that we had let enemy humans in. T Kevin covered my mouth and punched me, dragging me into a room.
"So you've become a whore too, just like Madeleine. I thought better of you, Robin," he said, looking at me with disgust.
"And you think you're better than us? You, who betrayed your own people! You're a disgrace!" I snapped back and he kicked me.
I remembered how we were, the four of us, how we used to play together as children, how I even liked Mark. But all that had changed. We had changed our minds about the wolves, but Kevin had let himself be consumed by hate.
"Of course I'm better. I did what I had to do to avoid getting involved with the wolves. While you were fucking with two beasts like an animal. You're a whore! But I don't care what you do. What I need is for you to help me get the humans and Maddie out."
"You've completely lost your mind! I'm not going to help you with that!" I shouted as he grabbed me by the throat and lifted me off the ground. I kicked and struggled, but he was stronger, even though he wasn't a werewolf.
"You'll do it, or I'll kill you, it's that simple," he said, punching me in the stomach. I feared for my baby. There was no way I could tell him I was pregnant. I remembered something my mates used to say: Trust the mate bond. And so I did.
"I'll do it. But please... don't hurt me," I whispered, and he seemed pleased. "We need to go to the west side. That's where Maddie's mother is. Once we have her, my friend will come straight to us. She won't sacrifice her for anything in the world."
"And the other humans?" he asked.
"Maddie is the Luna of the humans will follow her. Everyone who has sworn allegiance to this pack," he seemed to believe me.
"Who would have thought? That ugly bitch. Maybe that's why Gerard wants her so badly. But I don't care. I just want my lands, so we can regain control of the towns," he said, pulling me by the arm. I tried to reach my mates. I didn't have the mind link, but I called to them through the bond.
"Liam, Liam, Liam," I thought, but no one appeared.
"You'd better get me on the right track," he growled. I really take him to the armories where there would be other warriors. They would notice something was wrong, especially with another man holding my arm. The twins and I were one. But when the door opened, the room was empty.
"Let me find the key to Maddie's mother's safe room," I said, grabbing a piece of iron I saw nearby.
"This better not be a trick, you damn bitch, or I swear..." but I quickly hit him in the legs with the iron, causing Kevin to fall.
"You worthless bitch!" he screamed in pain, but then I saw someone dragging him by the neck, and with relief I realized it was Liam.
"Mate!" I said happily, stepping out of the room to see his horrified expression as he dragged Kevin along.
"Are you all right, little goddess?" he asked me. Then I saw Kevin retaliate, pull out a gun and shoot my mate in the leg, and I screamed.
"No, no! Don't hurt him!"
"Stupid beast, you must die!" Kevin shouted as Kurt appeared behind him.
"I've been looking for you, bastard!" Kurt yelled and started to punch him, disarming him in the process. Liam was already recovering, while the Alpha looked ready to explode.
"He got in with the refugee humans. There must be more enemies!" I said as we began to hear commotion. They and other warriors began to restore order and capture several humans who were already causing trouble and trying to create chaos.
"What the fuck is that?" Kurt exclaimed, shocked at everything that was happening, while Liam held me close.
"I'm fine, I'm fine."
"We need to take this to the Council. I have to tell my brothers what's going on," Kurt said, pulling Kevin with him. I heard screams across the border, and we moved closer. We had to tell the warriors not to let any more people through. This had been an ambush; they had begun to attack us from within.
"Liam, there's something important I need you to find out, in the town where my uncle went when he was young," Kurt told him, giving him more details. Liam looked worried; it must have been urgent for him to leave me behind. Then I saw Alpha Oscar standing with Alpha Gerard.
"I am Oscar's son. I demand the opportunity to prove that I am the rightful heir of Moonvalley"
