Chapter 62: I love her

I had rarely left the pack, and the human world I knew consisted of the small towns nearby. Since we'd found our mate, I hadn't had this kind of interaction with her, nor had we openly spent time with her in the pack.
I could sense her discomfort, a kind of insecurity because we were different. And I was convinced that I had to change that.
"Do you think things will be okay back in town?" she asked nervously.
"I'm sure my brothers won't let anything happen to your family."
"And them? Kurt and Logan?" she asks and I smile. I liked knowing that she was looking out for my brothers.
"My brothers know how to take care of themselves" I confirm, and she seems relieved.
I find a nice hotel in the center of the city, and soon we are in a large room, comfortable and luxurious.
"Maybe we should take our mate out of the pack more often and come to places like this. We could do so many things here," my wolf whispers looking at the bed, and I smile because he's absolutely right.
"I'm going to take a quick shower, mate. Rest so we can get ready for our dinner together," I say, tucking her in and giving her a kiss.
I leave the hotel to ask about different places to take her for dinner. When I return, I find her asleep and lie down next to her. How happy one can be with small moments! We were always busy thinking about the pack, about the Night Wolves, and we had little time to just live in peace.
"You stayed with me..." she wakes up after a while.
"Always. I found a place you'll like for dinner."
"I'm more than ready for our date,"
"The date started early, but this is going to be the cherry on top," I whisper to her as I watch her get up and go to the bathroom.
I put on the dark suit I bought, and try unsuccessfully to communicate with the pack and my brothers. After a while I see her come out.
She is wearing a short, tight gold dress that contrasts perfectly with her skin. Her hair is in a bun, she has almost no makeup on, and she is wearing high heels, my mouth waters.
"You look gorgeous" immediately I bring her to me and place my hands on her ass, "You're making it very hard for me to control myself..."
"What if I don't want you to control yourself?" she asks flirtatiously. I liked this side of her, more confident.
"I have to, we have to be together...it wouldn't be fair to them," I answer and she caresses my face.
"We will be together," she confirms in a low voice, and I feel my heart pounding desperately. I take her hand and kiss the back of it.
"That's a promise I won't forget."
When we arrive at the restaurant, I'm surprised to see that we're being served by a wolf, and I take the opportunity to make a special request.
"Could you get us a more private table?" He feels my alpha power and nods.
He leads us to a more secluded area, with tables further apart. There's a corner with some couches.
"It's really beautiful," we look at the city at night, with the lights in the tall buildings. The atmosphere is elegant and peaceful, with piano music in the background. I can't resist the temptation to take her on my lap, and she giggles.
"I was wondering when you were going to put your hands on me..."
"Do you like it when I do that?" I ask amused.
"Always... you all seem to have a need to always have me close, to touch me, to sniff me."
"It's a wolf thing," I say, kissing her shoulders and running my hands down her legs, lifting her dress until I reach her center. She moves her hips subtly, rubbing against my groin, and I let out a growl.
"Do you also feel the need to have your fingers between my legs all the time?" she whispers.
"Not only my fingers, but also my lips, my tongue... and I assure you, my dick too" I reply, running my hands over her breasts, feeling her breathing become agitated.
When the food arrives, I don't even flinch, even though she seems nervous. We eat like this, sharing our dishes, and I give her some champagne. She ends up lying on top of me, both of us in a delicious embrace. The moment is so perfect, the place, she's so relaxed, that I say it without thinking too much, because it's the truth.
"I love you, Maddie." she's surprised.
"I think I've always loved you. I couldn't stop watching you at school, in your classes, when you'd hang out with your brother and Robin. Even when you attacked us in the forest, I couldn't stop thinking about how brave you were, a human girl facing three alphas." she is moved and I continued.
"You are admirable, a good friend, a good daughter, intelligent, persistent... I know we had a lot of problems at first, but... I couldn't be prouder that you are my mate. And I love you, and I know in my heart that this feeling will never go away," I confess, and I see that she is truly touched by my words.
"Dominic..." she says, caressing the wound on my hand and kissing it. I take her broken watch from my pocket and place it on her wrist, and she cries with emotion.
"You don't have to say anything... it's a real miracle that you're here with me, that you think of us. That's all I ask: that you give these stupid wolves a chance," and from her expression it looks like my dream will come true.
She leans in to kiss me, and I know it's not a kiss of lust. It was soft and wonderful, saying that maybe she could feel something for me, for us, that there was an open door to a better world with her. My wolf was euphoric and wanted my lips to express everything I felt for her.
And when I felt someone interrupting us, I knew it wasn't going to be good and that it had nothing to do with the restaurant.
"Alpha..."
"Beta?"Liam was in front of me, agitated.
"We lost contact with you. Thanks to the waiter who saw you, we checked the wolf network, and he told us you were here,"
"My brothers..."
"They need you right away. I will take our Luna, she will be safe," he says and I get anxious.
"Dominic..." she gasps.
"I promise you, everything will be all right. You have to go to the pack, to be safe," I answer, and the goodbye is very hard. I kiss her desperately and take my wolf form. In an alley near the forest I see her in the car, looking at me, calling me.
And I have never wanted so much to disobey my duty and simply follow my heart.
