Chapter 30: Control and power

Logan

"And well? No greetings or hugs? Aren't you excited about our date?" I asked her, seeing the look of surprise on her face as she entered my room and I closed the door.

My brothers were planning something, probably to please her. Maybe Dominic was buying time to make a great date and they thought I wouldn't agree to have a date with her. Losers.

But I needed to keep an eye on this girl, and I thought it was a good time to update our agreement.

It wasn't really a date.

The Night Wolves were up to something, and if they started screwing up, my deal would fall apart, and with it, my future position as Alpha. You could say I was a control freak, I won't deny it.

The only thing I knew was that Gerard might know about the existence of our human mate. That bastard! I could imagine him laughing at me.

"I saw how excited you were on your date with Kurt, and you have curiosity for the date with my other brother, and yet here you are, scared like a sheep going to the slaughterhouse. But I told you, I don't bite, at least not yet," I said smiling as I sat down in my armchair, and she stood there not knowing what to do.

"Were you watching us?" she asked nervously.

"Sort of, why are you worried? Were you doing dirty things with him?" She had a slight tremor that confirmed it. Of course, that jerk would take advantage of his time with her.

"The three of us would share you. So I have every right to see and know what you do with them," I said. Although the truth is, I only saw them dance and nothing more. A rather boring date.

"You said you wouldn't accept me," she said, looking around.

"And I won't...that's our agreement."

"How do I know you'll really take care of my family?" she asked.

"I've talked to the pack that kidnapped you and that I believe is responsible for this attack. They're our enemies, so I'm keeping an eye on them."

It wasn't wrong, I was looking for a way to get among them, using force if necessary. If I was going to be the Alpha, I had to start being strong, and those stupid wolves weren't going to defeat me.

I had tried to talk to Gerard; my goal was to get close to him and finish him off as soon as possible. There was something about that wolf that didn't add up, something strange, but I couldn't tell what it was from a distance.

I knew my brothers were also crazy to kill him, but it was my responsibility, this pack. They were fools, focused only on getting into the girl's panties. That would be their end, I had already told them.

And yet, the human has no way of knowing that what I'm saying is true, so she'll have to trust me.

"So you don't like our date? I imagine with the others you'd have moments from a romantic movie, flowers, and that kind of nonsense. I'm not like that, and I never will be," I said.

What I really wanted was a Luna just for me, someone strong to help me lead the pack, and if she was beautiful and powerful, even better.

But this little human was getting in the way of my plans, because no matter how much I wanted to distance myself from her, she made me nervous just knowing that she was here, in my room, alone with me. It bothered me that she spent more time with my brothers, that they touched her.

"No, I don't like being alone with you, not after I know what you're planning," she said firmly, even though her whole body was shaking. Poor thing.

"Look at that! The little mouse...you've always been a loudmouth, but do you dare talk to me like that? Do you know who you're messing with?" I asked, and as I stood up, she gave a little jump.

"You're not going to hurt me...you need me. You need me for the ceremony and to control your brothers," she said, and my smile faded.

I had to admit that she was much smarter than I thought, I knew she was a nerd, always had been in school. And while humans lack strength, maybe her education wasn't that bad and she could use her brain.

"Mate has a plan... and it's against us," Morgan whispered to me.

"Impossible, she's completely controlled," I whispered to my wolf.

"There is no way we can manipulate her, she is the one who has power over us," he said.

The stupid wolves, always concerned about their mates, seemed to care about nothing else.

"Is that what you think?" I said, stepping forward and grabbing her arm.

"Maybe I could say someone tried to kill you and act like a hero," I said now, gently holding her neck, and she looked terrified.

"Or maybe I could say you're a traitor,"

But the look she gave me hit me right in the chest, and I let go of her immediately, maybe my wolf wasn't so wrong after all. Damn it!

"This is about control and power, human... you better understand that. Wolves are stronger than humans, more determined, more united, and that's why they control your kind and have more power," I said, and I saw her swallow hard.

"Do you really think you have me in your hands like my foolish brothers?" I asked, motioning for her to come closer as I sat back down.

She was only a few steps away and her scent captivated me. She smelled like home, like the source of all good things. It's ridiculous.

"What's the next step of the plan?" she asked, she must be counting the hours to get out of here.

"You're wrong, little mouse... this is where I give the orders. Have you not heard everything I have said? Control and power," I said, and she remained silent and seemed worried.

"Take off your clothes..."

"What?" she replied, stunned.

"I said take off your clothes..." She was wearing a skirt and a blouse. Quite modest and simple, but still... looks gorgeous to me.

"You said you didn't want anything with me... that we weren't going to..."

"No, and we won't. This is about power," I said through clenched teeth, resting my elbows on my knees.

"Take. Off. Your. Clothes" I said, my mouth watering.
