Chapter 139: Strange messages

Maddie

"Do you think it's serious?" I ask Robin.

"Let's hope not. I'm sure they'll find him soon. The old alpha has his followers, but fewer and fewer, at least from what my mates have been investigating. They drive my crazy!" she replies.

"When did they investigate?"

"Well... during our vacation, they started investigating something. It wasn't right, I told them. Those guys take their jobs way too seriously," she exclaims, a little annoyed. I try not to think about Alpha Oscar or what's going on, and instead concentrate on enjoying my friend, my best friend in the world.

"Start from the beginning. How was your holiday? You have no idea how much I missed you," I say excitedly.

"I missed you too, girl! Although I have to admit it's different having my mates all to myself without sharing them with the pack. It was wonderful!"

"Tell me what you did!" I ask.

"Basically we ate, swam on the beach, in the hotel pool, had sex, had sex and had more sex," she replies. I don't even know why I'm surprised. Ever since my friend met the Golden Boys, she's been obsessed with them.

"Robin!"

"What? I told you what I was going to do and I did it! All my bikinis came back torn, as did my underwear. Girl! I was on top of them, under them, behind them, in front of them, everything! I even tied them up, they tied me up, and we fuck like animals for hours, separately and together, taking turns... Goddess! These men are so passionate, it's incredible the endurance they have,' she murmurs happily as she remembers, and I blush.

"And you... tell me you what you did it with the super alphas?" she asks, and I blush even more. Her eyes widen as she understands what happened between me and my mates. My two mates.

"You did it! You did it! Oh, Maddie!!

"I did!" I admit.

"Yes, yes, yes! Tell me everything!"

"Well, it was intense, phenomenal... and now I'm obsessed with them. I wake up and seduce them and they fall easily. I've never felt so horny, not like the last few days. Of course, I've never been with men before, let alone two... but heavens... it was so hot," I comment and she smiles.

"These men are strong, but they turn into little puppies when you've got them in your hands and other parts of your body..." she says, and we laugh. "And yeah, I don't know how long this horny sensation will last, but as long as they can take it... it's all good." Suddenly we're interrupted as they bring us tea, and I search anxiously for something.

These notes... these messages kept coming. I didn't know what to expect. When I'm with my mates, they calm me down, but when they are away... thinking about these strange messages, my anxiety returns.

"What's wrong, girl? Has something else happened?" she asks. We're sitting on the sofa in the lounge, and I'm clutching the teacup tightly. The warmth calms me a little, but not enough to ease the knot in my stomach. She looks worried, probably sensing it's a secret. My behavior isn't helping either, I suppose.

"I'm starting to think someone is spying on me." Robin raises an eyebrow in obvious surprise. She's always been the more fun, spontaneous and happy of the two of us, but also the most protective.

"What makes you think that?" she asks. I take a sip of my tea before answering, letting the warm liquid relax me enough to speak without my voice shaking.

"It all started with little notes…" I begin. "At first I thought it was a joke. You know, the things you sometimes find without meaning to... a piece of paper on the window or a strange message in my tea. But then the messages started to get... more personal." Robin frowns and leans in closer.

"Messages in your tea? What the hell? I don't like that," she asks, confused. I nod. I take out the crumpled note I found the first time, still legible, and show it to her. I don't even dare to read it out loud. It feels like a secret, a dark one that frightens me, although I don't quite totally understand. Then I show her another one I found taped to my bedroom window, as if someone had deliberately left it there, right where I would see it. The words still send shivers down my spine:

"We know who you are. We know you're with them. You're being watched."

“You can get away from us”

“Madeleine… you don't belong here”

"What the hell?" Robin whispers as she reads the note. "This isn't a joke, Maddie. This is fucking serious."

"I know," I say, crossing my arms. "I thought someone in the pack was trying to scare me. You know, some of them still aren't quite convinced that I, a human, can be the Luna. But these messages... they're getting more and more detailed. About me."

"Like what?"

"Like the fact that I have a family, that my hometown is waiting for me, that I've tried to contact them, you know, like when we escaped. That I've got the Alphas wrapped around my finger, that they'll do anything I ask. That they love me and will defend me. Even about the rite” I explain. Robin puts the note down on the table, her expression changing from surprise to anger.

"Have you told your mates? Please say yes"

"Not yet," I admit. "I don't want to worry them any more than I have to. They have enough problems without adding this. You've seen what's happening: Oscar, Logan's away, and we're, you know... distant. There's a prisoner in the dungeons, the beasts, everything! Also, I don't know how they manage to leave me these messages without anyone noticing. I don't want them to think I can't handle it."

"But you can't keep this to yourself, Maddie," Robin insists. "If they're spying on you, it affects all of us, not just you. Are you sure you haven't seen anyone suspicious around?"

I shake my head, feeling a twinge of fear. I look down at my feet and remember Dominic painting my nails. It had been such a lovely day... until the subject of Oscar came up. But my fears about these messages were always there.

"I haven't seen anyone, but the messages keep coming, not every day but a few in the weekend. I don't know how they're doing it, but they're too close, I feel them, close” Robin bites her lip, clearly thinking about what this might mean.

"The twins were investigating something to do with spies," she suddenly confesses. "Irina."

"Irina?" I ask, frowning. Robin nods slowly and lowers her voice.

"Liam has this idea that she didn't just run away, that she made plans with the Council. And it seems that Logan knows that, although it's hard for him to admit it since he was with her. My mates hate her of course, we all do. So they were keeping an eye on her" my friend mentions. I can't ignore the discomfort I feel at the mention of this woman, or the fact that Logan chose her. That scene... in the Great Hall... I can't forget it.

"Do you think she could be behind the messages?"

"I don't know," Robin replies. "But one thing's for sure, you need to tell your mates. This is bigger than it seems, we can't underestimate that." I sigh, unable to shake the feeling that whoever is sending me these messages is much closer than I want to admit.

"You're right," I say, gritting my teeth. "I can't ignore it anymore. But... what if it's someone from the pack? Someone we know?" Robin looks at me, her expression hard and determined.

"If it's someone from here, Maddie, then we better find out before it's too late."

"It could also be someone from outside," she suggests.

"Outside?" I ask.

"Yes, maybe from another pack, the human city. We have to find out. And I think I have a plan."
