Chapter 63: Rogues

Logan

"We did well to come here."

"Yes, no doubt. They think they lost us," Kurt replied as we moved stealthily through the forest, following the scent of the rogues. I didn't know if they had been stupid, overconfident or ruthless in leaving their scent in the house, but at least we were benefiting from it.

"Alpha, it looks like they are gathering near the valley," one of our warriors said.

"Excellent," I replied, and we made our way to a small hill where we could observe the rogues' camp. The damn creatures were preparing something and discussing plans. I couldn't believe it, but we could clearly hear fragments of their conversation.

"Assholes," Kurt mentioned, looking impatient to attack them. I signaled him to speak through the mindlink.

We were down to a few men, having had to split up: some stayed at the house, which was already being emptied of the few belongings we had left; the rest we had sent to our pack on the road, not counting all the guards we had left in town.

My brothers feared something would happen to her family. I had to admit I didn't like them, especially the brother, after everything he'd said... but we couldn't leave them. What Kurt had said about the supposed human boyfriend still made my blood boil.

"Then let's accept our mate once and for all," Morgan grumbled.

"Not now, wolf," I sighed.

"They're talking about the next steps," my brother told me, and we stayed alert to listen.

"We got at least part of what we wanted," we heard one say.

"Yes, this will allow us to know more about her and locate her easily," one of the rogues replied, and I saw that they had a comb with a piece of her hair; it was hers! They could always track her. Damn them!

"I still can't believe that those three big Alphas are with a poor, weak human whore. The Moon Goddess must have punished them." one rogue spit.

"And now they are an easy target to attack! All any wolf who wants to take Moonvalley has to do is get rid of the little human, and the triplets will fall like insects," another rogue said, and I had to control myself.

"Damn, I hate rogues... I'll love to kill them" Kurt talks through the mindlink. I saw my brother almost jump to fight while I held his arm.

"Control yourself, and listen."

"It's almost certain that we'll get good money for this. The alphas of many small packs are fighting to see who can bring down the Three Dragons first. Even we might have a chance," another rogue mentioned.

"Really? Those motherfuckers? They are out of their damn mind" Kurt add growling.

"And what do we do about Gerard? He wants to take them down first."

"That's right, I even heard him say that he has priority. It seems to me that he just wants us to fight each other. Moonvalley is a very large and powerful pack, everyone knows their territory is the best."

"That alpha Gerard has a plan, it's rumored that he has something that will make him clearly claim Moonvalley," another replied.

What the hell? What could that bastard have? This couldn't be good, and I had a bad feeling about it.

"They're coming for us," my brother told me.

"I told you, having a human mate is dangerous," I grumbled.

"Not if we mark her. She will make us stronger, you know that. If we are united, we will be unstoppable," he told me like a fool, and I growled.

"We need proof and a witness," I said and signaled. Kurt was annoying, but he had many skills.

"Got it," he said, and I saw him stealthily move to the other side and infiltrate the camp.
My brother was really risky, and I saw him disarming our enemy while I began to prepare our surprise attack. Kurt was already advancing when suddenly one of them sounded the alarm.

"I smell something," said another.

"It's about time," my wolf roared. It's time to end this.

Morgan took control and my wolf, black as night, descended upon the camp. I heard the cries of terror; surprise was always the best attack.

"'Incoming! It's the Moonvalley wolves!" I heard them cry, and I felt great satisfaction. My wolf wanted rogue's blood. Kurt was already inside, attacking the rogues with their own weapons, he almost laughs of pleasure. When one of them escaped, I went after him.

"Kurt, call Dominic and the twins. We'll finish these rogues off tonight!" I yelled as I followed the rogue. I didn't want to leave any witnesses behind who could spread more information we had heard; my priority was to finish them all now.

I killed several on the way, feeling their blood in my teeth as it dripped from my mouth. The one who had escaped had taken the human's comb along with some other belongings, and something told me he had contact with the other Alphas. He was big and must have some kind of leadership here.

I heard screams and howls in the distance, and I knew my brother was going to finish them off. Kurt was fast and agile; I was strong and powerful.

"Alpha, Dominic is not responding," Liam said through the mind link.

"Damn! Find him no matter what! We have to get her back to the pack to be safe!" he shouted, and I knew our Beta would do what had to be done.

"He must have stayed with the rest of his people, and if he's running through the forest like a rat, it's because he has something," my wolf said.

"Then let's follow him," I agreed.

When I caught up with the rogue, we rolled down a hill. I landed with my claw around his neck. I turned back into a human and spoke to him.

"Who gave you all this information? Gerard?"

"What are you talking about, Dragon?" he had the nerve to ask me.

"I heard, you bastards! Tell me what you know!" I punched him.

"You're done, alpha. You don't even know what you're up against. You're a foolish and proud alpha, too sure of yourself and thinking you should rule, like all you stupid pack wolves," the rogue said, and I hit him until I broke his nose. He screamed, but I was determined to get some information out of him.

"I will kill you and all your people. Who is behind all this? Why does Gerard think he has authority over our pack?" I asked, choking him, but when the rogue tried to attack me, I ended up killing him.

"Fuck!" I shouted and collect the human belongings.

I returned to the rogues' camp, looking for anything that would indicate if they had contact with another pack or enemy. What I wanted most was to know what Gerard had, but when I arrived, I found it destroyed. The fire had consumed much, and my warriors were already putting out the flames.

"I've captured some, we have prisoners," my brother said.

"Several escaped, Alpha..." one of my warriors mentioned. Anyway, the human our mate was safe, and the pack was reinforced, as was the town.

When we heard a noise behind us, something hiding in the forest...this can't be good.

"Call Dominic," was the last thing I said before something attacked us.
