Chapter 171: The Origin of Gerard
Kurt
"We're screwed, we're screwed! They came fully prepared, and we thought we had more time!" Ajax screamed in my head. I returned to the pack house, Robin still doing her job well as she watched the people panic.
"Alpha!"
"I need you to call those who have evidence against the Night Wolves. People who witnessed the battles in the towns, the attacks, the kidnappings and even the treaty," I told her.
"I will speak to everyone. Lionel has gone out, I hope he brings news. Mark left this morning, my mate is looking for him to bring reinforcements."
"Excellent. Pay particular attention to Maddie's mother," I say.
"Alpha, there are people trying to cross the border, they're afraid of what might happen,"
"Damn, this is not a good time, but if they don't get in, they'll be caught in the middle of the battle. Priority should be given to women and children. The men should go to other areas if they are not with their families" I reply, heading straight for where Mafia is. We had forgotten him, and that was a big mistake. Some of the Night Wolves had died, but Mafia and a few others were still alive. To my luck and their misfortune.
"We meet again, scum," I say, and he sighs.
"I take it my Alpha has returned. Is that what's got you so nervous?" he says smugly. I reply with a direct punch to his face, making him bleed.
"If you think he's coming for you, you're wrong. Your Alpha only cares about himself - gaining power, acquiring territory," I reply, kicking him in the stomach. He's tied up, bound with wolfsbane soaked ropes, and if I have my way he'll die like this.
"You mean your territory. Gerard wants to be the Alpha of Moonvalley and his time will come," he says, panting but looking pleased, even excited. I want to kick the smile off his face. I lift him up by the neck and stare into his eyes. He's a big man, but he's lost a lot of his strength. On the other hand, after mating and marking my mate, after she accepted us, and we mixed our blood... I'm stronger than ever.
"I realize it was our fault for not being tougher with you. I often promised to finish you off, and I didn't. Maybe that wasn't such a bad decision, because now you're falling right into my hands"
"If you think I'm going to tell you anything, blond Alpha, you're wrong," he replies, but I start to squeeze his throat. I see the fear in his eyes, how they bulge out, how his face turns red, almost purple. When he thinks he's about to lose the fight, I let go. The other Night Wolves in the cells tremble as they watch him.
"Werewolves are driven by survival, it's one of the first laws of nature. Survive, no matter what," I say as I walk over to the other cells and forcefully open them, ripping off the bars. I watch the other wolves scurry backwards and away from me in terror.
"But I think it's a mistake. I don't know if it's worth surviving. I don't know if the price is worth it," I say, grabbing one by the leg and dragging it towards the center. I start punching and kicking him as he screams. The others hold back, but I know they're scared.
"Especially when the price is suffering, being used for experiments, taking advantage of weaker species. Becoming a doormat for someone else to step on," I say, and finally snap his neck in one swift movement. The wolf falls like a rag doll, lifeless.
"Tell me what you know, Mafia. Your Alpha doesn't come to rescue you, he doesn't care about you. He left you here, and he never came to get you, no matter how loyal and faithful you are. I promise to save your pack, to help them have a good life. Even find them human mates, if they wish. But I need information, you little worm,' I say and move on to another wolf. I hit this one harder, breaking its neck with a single blow, listening to its screams. I can feel Mafia starting to panic. I've beaten him before, tortured him, but I'm not playing around now.
"We have to protect mate, we need this information," Ajax growls, eager to get out. I've already killed three wolves and there's only he left. Mafia looks pale.
"Tell me, and I'll give you a quick death. I'll protect your pack, your innocent people. What do you think will happen if your Alpha fails? The other packs will come and destroy everything. We may be violent Alphas, but we're fair," I whisper, tightening my grip on his throat. I see him nod. But what he says is something I could never have imagined.
"Alpha Oscar... Gerard is Alpha Oscar's bastard son."
"What did you say?"
"He'll claim to be a legitimate son, but he's the bastard son of Oscar and a human. He also has various human trapped. He will take more, and more"
Damn... That's why he hates humans. That's why he looked so familiar to me. Gerard is our cousin, and if that's true, he might have the right to call for a challenge. That's the card he'll play.
Shit!
