Chapter 177: The Awakening of the Luna

The cold wind cut across my face as I ran, but my thoughts moved faster than my feet. Kurt wanted to take me away from here, far away from the battle. But I couldn't let him.

"Kurt, stop!" I shouted. I planted my heels in the damp earth and looked him straight in the eye. "I can't keep running. Not while everyone else is out there fighting." Kurt stopped, frowning, frustration etched into every line of his face. I knew he didn't want to hear this.

"Madeleine, we've talked about this. We need you to be safe."

"Don't ask me to stand by and do nothing!" I said, my voice shaking with anger and despair. "I'm not a burden. I am their Luna, and I have as much right to fight as anyone else. They need me!" Kurt clenched his fists. I could tell he was trying to control himself, but he didn't fully understand what I was feeling.

"I won't let you risk your life."

"What am I then?" I replied, stepping closer and challenging him. "If I'm not there when they need me, then what am I?" Kurt was silent, his eyes reflecting his inner conflict. He knew what I was saying was true, but his duty as a protector - as my mate - weighed heavily on him.

"Mate..."

"I am the Luna of Moonvalley," I said with a conviction I hadn't fully felt until this moment. "I am the Luna of Moonvalley," I repeat it, until I feel it.

As I spoke these words, I felt something indescribable awaken within me. A wave of warmth swept through my body. Wrapping itself around me like a second skin, connecting me to the forest, to the earth beneath my feet, and to every being in this place. The air grew thick and vibrant, as if all nature was listening and supporting me at this moment.

"When I first came here, I didn't understand anything about this world. I didn't know what it meant to be a Luna, what it meant to be part of something bigger. But now I do. My life changed the day I realized that I wasn't alone, that my fate was intertwined with all of yours, with every member of Moonvalley... and with every human here as well."

My words poured out like a torrent of emotions, each one charged with the intensity of everything I'd learned. "Being a Luna isn't just a title. It's a promise. It's a commitment to be here, in the darkest moments, and not to back down. It's the strength we all share, the bond that goes beyond blood, beyond species, beyond borders. My life has changed because I now know that we are one. It's not where we come from that matters, it's where we're going - and today we're going together. I'm yours. You are mine. The pack, the members, the territory"

Kurt looked at me in amazement.

"My mate... my Luna. Something has happened, something has changed. It's you, Maddie. You are our Luna, everyone's Luna," he said, coming closer, taking my hand and looking at me with love, and I know he understood.

I closed my eyes, letting the power flow through me. And when I opened them I saw people coming out of the forest: humans, and even wolves from other packs who had come to join the fight. They approached us, their faces serious and determined, as if they too were part of this fight. Even my little wolf is here.

"Madeleine," my brother Mark whispered, relieved to see me, as he ran towards me with his usual mixture of concern and determination. "Are you all right?" I nodded, unable to stop smiling at him, though my heart still ached with tension. Lionel appeared too, grinning and kneeling as he saw me.

"You came back. You've all come back," I said, my voice filled with amazement. I saw people from the Resistance and many others from nearby towns and villages standing beside Lionel and Mark. They felt my calling, they came because it is true, I'm the human Luna.

I felt a lump in my throat and a deep calm at the same time. I knew I was where I was supposed to be. "Today I am here not only as your Luna, but as someone who will fight by your side. Today we won't back down, because this is our home, our future. Moonvalley need us. The human towns need us. If the council and the Night Wolves control us... we are doomed. All of us"

The surrounding energy intensified, as if each word summoned more power, and I saw it reflected in the faces of everyone around me. Humans, wolves... we were all connected. I raised my eyes to Kurt. He returned my gaze with a smile of pride and love.

"Never better said. We have to go back; we can do this," he whispered to me.

"We all can. We are not alone," I replied. "Let's go," I said at last, my voice strong and clear. "For Moonvalley. For our pack. For the humans! Let's fight together!"

I barely had a moment's relief before a piercing scream tore through the air. My heart stopped for a second. I felt it, like a deep pain in my chest. Logan. Something was wrong.
