Chapter 72: Confrontations
Maddie
"You really think I have a plan?"
"Of course you do," he snaps.
"Sure! I let myself be kidnapped, taken from my family, then rescued by my lifelong enemies crazy wolves, treated like a savage in this pack, and later left of my own free will because you threatened me, only to be ambushed and mistreated by your nemesis. And in the meantime, I spent days bedridden with wounds that miraculously healed. All to seduce your brothers. Of course, it's an excellent plan, very intelligent!" I remark sarcastically, and he snarls.
"Say what you want, what's happening here is not normal! You're up to something, human..." he replies through clenched teeth.
Honestly, I'm really mad now. It was true that I was somehow attracted to him, and it was hard to resist the pull he had on me. But if there was one thing I was sure of, it was that I wasn't going to let him or anyone else ruin my life. I had been through enough and my life was complicated without adding Logan's paranoia to it. So I confronted him.
"You know what, Logan? I no longer care what you think or believe. It's obvious you don't know how to treat a woman, let alone deal with your problems, and that says a lot about an alpha, don't you think? Not to mention that your crazy paranoia speaks volumes about your intelligence." I see the anger in his eyes. I've definitely surprised him, and I'm about to surprise him even more.
"You know nothing! How dare you? Who do you think you are?" he replies, shaking with anger.
"Well, as you insist on reminding me, I am human! A simple species to you, and yet I've dared to face my worst fears, to give my enemies, those who have hurt me, a chance. I have doubts and frankly scared, but I don't let them paralyze me and I don't blame others for my bad decisions. I face them like a responsible and mature person!" I snapped, and his eyes widened.
"You can't talk to me like that!" he replies, grabbing my shoulders and turning me around to meet his fiery gaze.
"I can! Because I want to and because you deserve it!" I shout angrily.
"You'll see what happens to you, you better not let your guard down or..."
"Or what, Logan? Are you going to kill me?" I say and see an expression of horror and insult on his face. Who can understand this man? And they say that women are complicated.
"You're a..." he hisses, but doesn't finish because I don't think he knows what to say.
"And by the way, forget about coming to the waterfalls with us..." I say when I hear approaching footsteps and assume it's the brothers. I put an end to this strange conversation.
"I go where I want! This is my pack! What do you think, human?" he says, losing his temper and seeming to explode.
"I am the mate of the future alphas. You can go wherever you want, but not with me. And I suggest you start taking responsibility for your life. The problem isn't what happens to us, it's how we react to it,' I say, turning around and twirling my hair. He seems rooted to the spot.
"I swear... !" he shouts, he grabs my shoulder, pressing hard, he goes to my neck, but a few seconds later Kurt appears at the door, and I run to his arms. I don't think he heard the conversation, but when he sees his brother red with rage, he whispers to me.
"Is everything okay?"
"Fine," I say, losing myself in his lips, and he lifts me up and covers me in kisses as we walk to the car.
"You really don't need protection, do you, mate?" he says with a smile, maybe he heard what I said to Logan.
"The big idiot is not coming, let's go!" he announces happily, and we leave.
"The pack is really beautiful!" Robin says enthusiastically as we take in the landscape.
"We've arrived!" one of the twins says a few minutes alter as we step onto a small path in the forest, and soon we hear the sound of a waterfall and see a fantastic cascade. The water is crystal clear and the sound is relaxing.
There are many rocks, and a pool forms below, making it look so paradisiacal that I couldn't believe we were sharing this world with them. Maybe the wolves had the best of it.
And as if that wasn't enough, we found that they had prepared a place with cushions and rugs, a kind of romantic picnic with candles, food, flowers... it was just paradise.
"Guys, this is really nice," I say. Robin is carried by one of the twins, who can't seem to let go of her.
"The best to you, ladies," Kurt replies. I was anxious to get into the water, and as I began to take off my dress, and my friend was already in a fantastic bikini, I could hear growls from all around.
My bikini was simple, but with thin straps. I slowly began to see myself in a better light, noticing my curves, my short height, not as a problem, but as something charming. I started to feel better about myself.
" Mate, you look..."
"Really...fuck!"
"What's happening?" I asked, confused.
"By the goddess, we shouldn't have brought you here like this," Lionel says, almost popping his eyes out at Robin.
"You look too tempting to be around other men," Kurt added. The others are speechless, as if they can't talk, and suddenly Robin scolds everyone.
"Enough! Leave the jealousy for another time. We are among friends. My mates are your betas, and they adore Maddie as their Luna. And you twins, they are your alphas!” she claims, and everyone falls silent.
" Mate, you can't talk to our alphas like that..." one of the twins whispers.
"But I'm right," she says nonchalantly. Go Robin!
"Indeed you are," I confirm, and now the others don't seem to know what to do.
"Of course you are both right," Dominic concludes, and we have a wonderful day in the water. Robin and I explore the shallow areas, seeing small fish and shiny rocks.
The twins threw us into the water and we had fun. Kurt tried to catch me, chasing me, and I laughed as I'm in his arms. When it got late, we had a light dinner and I noticed Robin sneaking away with the twins. I didn't even know when it happened; one moment she was there, and the next they were gone. It didn't take a genius to figure out what they were up to.
And suddenly I found myself under the intense gaze of my mates, who didn't stop watching me, and my breath quickened just thinking about the anticipation.
I was alone with them and didn't want anything else in the world.
