Chapter 98: Betas Power

We face at least half a dozen men from the Council. They are unarmed, but they roar and prepare to transform into their wolf form.
"You can handle this and more, mate," Liam says to me, sensing my insecurity. I had never faced anything like this before, and although we had talked about me taking some defense classes, this situation led me from not even having a first class to having to face the final test.
"Guys, whatever you're doing here, you better start surrendering. We're from the council, and all wolves know it's one of the most sacred institutions," one of the men says as he confidently steps forward. I get the impression he thinks my mate will back down and respond respectfully. But these men have no idea who they're dealing with.
"I know exactly who you are, and I can assure you that you are not a sacred institution. You are vile men, interfering with an important ritual for every wolf!" Liam growls, and the men look at him in shock.
"Who the hell are you? How dare you speak so?"
"Foolish and insolent boy," the men growl, looking older and arrogant.
"I'm someone who stands with the real wolves, the good ones," my mate replies, and I feel really proud of him.
"He is a beta. You can feel his rank from here, and the girl behind him is a human who is his mate. She's marked…" another says with disdain.
"A human mate? How horrible!"
"A human mate, for a beta? Scandalous!" says another, looking horrified, and Liam roars annoyed.
"Yes, she is my mate, and our bond is sacred... and if any of you have the blessing of having your mate, you will know that there is no more dangerous wolf than one who feels his mate is in danger," he says, changing into his wolf form as the others do the same.
Damn, my mate is hot, and he defended me so fiercely, what more could a girl ask for?
Liam hasn't finished roaring when I raise the rifle and start shooting. I didn't know if I was doing it right at first, but now I was focused; somehow I felt the power of this beta rank that my mates might have passed on to me, and I began to realize that I had good aim, or at least hit my targets when I needed to.
I shot at their legs, their mouths, and the wolves fell, howling in pain. Liam was amazing, taking down enemies and finishing them off in moments. He was a young and big wolf, much bigger than the others; I was in awe just watching him. I kept shooting; I didn't want to kill them, just wound them, but in no time my mate had killed them all.
Now, in front of me, was a gorgeous light ocher wolf with fur that looked golden in some places. I had never seen him before; they were supposed to introduce me to their wolves after the ceremony, but instead there was chaos.
"Blondie..." I said, and he approached me cautiously. He was covered in blood, and I just wanted to touch him. When he was close, I stroked his fur. I remembered that they had already told me the names of their wolves, and instinctively I knew the name of Liam's wolf.
"Lucas..." I whispered, and the wolf howled with joy. In seconds, I had my mate in front of me, naked in his human form, smiling at me.
"You are amazing. I knew you would do well, but you're wonderful, my little goddess," he whispered in love, and I lost my breath.
"You were amazing, so strong and wonderful," I reply. He was covered in blood, looking savage, and damn... his dicks looked big and delicious.
"I wasn't going to let anything happen to my mate, although it's clear you can defend yourself," he smiles and touch my face, as we hear a noise that seems to be coming from some kind of device. Together we search through the bodies until we find a transistor radio.
"Councilmen, are you there? Over"
"Is anyone there? In the woods? Did you find the target? Over," repeat a voice on the other side of the radio that sounds familiar to me.
"Gerard," Liam whispers, recognizing him too. He grabs the radio, presses the button and puts on a deeper voice.
"Councilman here, we're in the woods, south path over."
"Good. I expect news soon. We'll meet later at the bar across the street, outside the forest, over."
"Understood. We have clues about the human, we'll have them by tomorrow, over," Liam says in a cold voice.
"Let's hope so, over and out," the communication ends.
"I think we can help our Luna and get more information at the same time. What do you think?" he asks me excited. I feel the adrenaline coursing through my body and something else. I can't stop looking at his naked body and I go over to him, hug him and kiss him.

"I think we make a perfect team," I say between kisses. In a moment, we're in the car; he's in the driver's seat, and I'm on top of him.
