Chapter 80: The future Luna

Maddie

Robin looked radiant, smiling at the blond men who proudly introduced her to the pack.

Her golden outfit made her look like she was at a gala; her long, curly hair cascaded over her shoulder and down her chest. I even noticed several wolves staring at her shamelessly. The twins swore eternal love, and so did she.

"Robin is now the female beta of the pack. Welcome! May your life here be happy, may you help us grow stronger, and may you have a prosperous family," Oscar said, and everyone applauded.

The Great Hall looked fantastic, and it was undoubtedly an important event. Other couples had exchanged vows, but Robin and I were the only humans. To my delight, she was well received.

"Something is wrong?" I whisper to Kurt as we watched from the sidelines. Logan was nowhere to be seen, and I had a bad feeling. Dominic stood further away with a worried look on his face.

"We're just taking some precautions. Apparently the Council is coming"

"Again?"

"Yes... there's some concern about the humans," Kurt replied.

"Because of what you promised? Protect us?" I asked worriedly and he softened his look.

"And we will, baby... we won't rest," he said, caressing my face, and I kissed his hand. "You look so beautiful... we should have moved up the celebration, just like the twins," he murmured, biting his lip as he looked at me. I was wearing a pearl dress that I had picked out; he said it was perfect.

But suddenly I froze when I saw Logan appear. Will he accept me? Will he announce in front of everyone that we are mates? So far, he hadn't even said the word "mate". Then suddenly he approached.

"I need to talk to her," he said firmly.

"Is this a joke, brother?" Kurt replied angrily.

"You always say she's strong and independent... let the human decide," Logan said in an icy voice. He was wearing a black formal suit, his blue eyes shining, looking as delicious as ever. The scar on his face moved as he spoke. Before, I found it terrifying, but now... it was just sexy.

"I want to hear what he has to say," I replied, and Kurt sighed.

"I won't let you out of my sight," Kurt shouted, pushing his brother, and we walked into a small room that opened onto a large hallway. It was surrounded by warriors; it was safe, I assumed.

"Alone..." Logan adds and Kurt stayed outside but kept watching me.

In the distance, I could hear applause and noise from the hall, something I was sure Logan would use to his advantage, so his brother wouldn't hear anything he was about to say to me.

"You've got to stop this madness...we can't present you," Logan said through clenched teeth, and my heart sank. He hadn't changed; I wasn't sure he ever would.

"Your brothers will do it, it was agreed, the Council..."

"The council will be presented with other information. This is your chance to get out of this unscathed," he growled.

"Since when do you care about my health and well-being? You've only been hurting me since I arrived, or rather, long before!" I snapped, and he got even angrier.

He grabbed my arms, and I saw Kurt protesting outside, but the warriors held him back. Now I was scared, but Logan looked at me with such intensity that it made me forget everything else.

"I don't care about you! I care about being humiliated in front of the entire pack, in front of this embarrassing farce you've orchestrated!" he growled.

"I haven't done anything!"

"Reject my brothers, and I'll give you money to live well," he offersand I felt deeply humiliated. I don't know how, I broke away from him and slapped him, and he seemed even angrier.

"And what will happen? We humans will continue to live like hunted animals, exiled from our own homes! I won't let that happen! I won't let people like you win!"

"People like me?" he looked offended.

"Heartless! Bastards! Men who only think of themselves!" I spat.

"Is that what you think of me?" he asked, conflicted.

I thought he was going to hurt me, but instead he did something unexpected. He grabbed my waist and kissed me.

His kiss was deeply passionate, taking my lips, caressing, squeezing and licking everything in his path. It was as if this was his last moment, his last second of life, the last chance he'd have with me, and he took full advantage of it.

I clung to his arms and got lost in that kiss, tender, strong and passionate. My head was spinning; it was as if I had come full circle: I had to kiss all three of them. I had to touch them, possess them. My hands gripped his black shirt, wrinkling it between my fingers, and I enjoyed the kiss more than I should have.

He held my neck, so I wouldn't pull away from the kiss, and I heard him moan with pleasure. When I lifted my hand and touched his face, he pulled away and looked at me in surprise. I ran my fingers over his scar, the one I had given him years ago when I defended myself.

But unlike his brothers, he hadn't changed. He was still the same ruthless wolf he had always been, and now I saw it clearly.

"This is your last chance, run away again, get out of here," he said urgently, maybe with panic. And I saw with sadness that he undoubtedly thought this kiss was a mistake.

"I won't."

"Stupid human!" he said and now Kurt came between Logan and me.

"Get away from her! Damn you, Logan!" the brothers shouted.

I don't know what the hell had happened, but the Great Hall was in chaos, people screaming, others gasping in amazement, and there was a lot of howling. And in a split second of that chaos, I heard a voice and a hand grabbed my arm and pulled me aside.

"You're a real bitch!" the blonde woman whispered.

"You...?"

"You don't feel anything for them, do you? You're a human who can't feel the bond; what you've done is play with them."

"How dare you say such a thing?" I asked, offended, looking for Kurt, the twins, someone to see what this woman was doing.

"You just want three wolves for yourself! Three alphas! In your sad world you don't even know what that is, do you? You just want to have several men going crazy over you, touching you, fucking you like a whore!," her beautiful face furious.

I noticed that she was wearing a beautiful red gala dress... she gave me a bad feeling. I heard screams, and she disappeared as Kurt took me in his arms.

"It's going to be okay, mate" he whispers and now there was a voice shouting.

"Silence everyone! The council wants to know if the next Luna of this pack will be presented," one of the council members said.

"Come on, Maddie... Kurt was leading me to the podium when Logan suddenly appeared and intervened, Dominic seem nervous.

"Yes, I'm going to present my future Luna and my chosen mate... Irina," Logan said and my heart sank.

Irina looked at me from the platform, pleased, looking like a beauty queen, and all hell broke loose.
