Chapter 148: The Kidnapping

Maddie

I can't scream, and can barely move. As I was being dragged, the man who took me was carrying me as if I weighed nothing, and we fell several floors. This man, who is undoubtedly a wolf, has been holding me all the time, and I can't see what's happening or who he is.
The last thing I heard in the room was Logan, who seemed agitated and mumbling. But now he was far away and my captor was carrying me through the garden of the pack. I had no idea where the other warriors and guards were. My mates were on their way to the human town, perhaps already there, and I am here... lost, in the enemy hands. This was undoubtedly a masterstroke, perfectly planned.
I'm thrown to the ground and, the moonlight allowed me to see the person who abducted me, and I'm shocked to see who it was.
"Arthur?" The warrior who supposed to be loyal to Logan and the rest of the triplets had kidnapped me. He was even promoted, and my mates wanted him to be the chief of the warriors. And now he was here, kidnapping me.
"Be quiet, Luna. I don't want to hurt you, quite the opposite," he said firmly.
"If you don't want to hurt me, you have to take me back to the pack house. Logan needs me,' I plead.
"I can't do that," he replies, holding me as I try desperately to resist. But he's stronger and holds me back as he pushes me further into the forest.
"You don't know what you're doing! My mates will kill you! Attacking a Luna is punishable by your own laws!" I say, trying to convince him.
"You're right, but this is too important, the wolf world is changing. The triplets understand some of it. Don't scream, or I will hurt you Luna, I don't want to do it, but I will" he says seriously.
"If that's what you believe, then you should help my mates. This is not the way," I insist, panting as we head deeper into the forest. I don't know if there's any point in screaming. Something tells me that Arthur has managed to mislead all the warriors. Most people must think I'm resting peacefully in Logan's room, near the infirmary.
"They don't quite understand. Or at least they don't know what the future holds. Others do," he explains.
"What are you talking about? What future? Who are these 'others'? The night wolves?" I ask.
"No," he replies. "I understand, Luna, that this is incomprehensible to you. You don't get it because you haven't spent your whole life longing for a mate. You've found triplets who adore you. Most wolves don't have mates, and we would do anything to find them" There was a lot of pain in his voice. And although I could understand his tragedy, I couldn't allow or forgive him for taking me away from my mates.
"What has this got to do with me? Are you going to hand me over to the enemy?" I ask, fear creeping into my voice.
"No, you are the key to this change. Not only that, but you have an unparalleled position. I didn't believe it at first, but I've been watching you closely. I'm sure the others are right," he whispers, pushing me as I try to see where we're going. His last words made me realize something.
"You're the one who sent me those messages? You've been threatening me?..." I whisper in fear. My mates were right; our enemies and traitors were closer than we thought, eating and living among us.
"You are completely lost. I was just the messenger, but I didn't write those messages, though I share the idea," he says darkly. "The only solution is uniting humans and wolves, you are the bridge between them, and you're here for a reason." What the fuck? Suddenly we reach a clearing. I can see the moon through the branches of the leafless trees. I feel cold and wonder what we're waiting for or what's happening.
I notice that Arthur is limping and looks injured. I remember he was brutally beaten when Alpha Oscar fled, he was supposedly helping us... he surely let the alpha escape. Goddess! But there's something else - he has scratches from an attack, small cuts on his leg, and I realize what's happened.
"Little wolf... you attacked him!" I gasp in horror. I'm sure the little one had discovered the truth, that Arthur was a traitor, and the scoundrel had silenced him.
"That animal got in my way," he replies contemptuously.
"Where the hell is he? Tell me!" I yell, and he hit me.
"Shut up if you don't want something unfortunate to happen. I could turn you over to someone worse," he warns.
"To whom? Who are you going to hand me over to?" I ask, my voice shaking. My face is pulsating with pain.
"You'll see," he whispers, pulling me along. We hide behind some trees and Arthur throws me to the ground. When I look up, I see someone I never thought I'd see again. Someone who now looks at me with hatred and disappointment, as if I were the worst person in the world.
"No... it can't be"
