Chapter 170: She is the True Luna
What the hell are they talking about?
"What grounds does this Alpha have for claiming our territory? Our heritage, our birthright!" Logan shouts.
"There are many reasons. The first is that this pack has been on the verge of collapse for some time. But things got worse when the human Luna arrived. Or rather, you chose a human to take over human territory," Gerard says, strutting.
"She is ours! She is our mate!" Kurt roars.
"My theory, gentlemen, is that they found some poor fool, exposed her to the rite of the wolf guardian and helped her win. It's all a trick by these triplets to gain more power,"
Gerard raises his arms, and I see more and more alphas appearing, people from other packs, no doubt summoned by the Council to witness this.
"Or to start a war," Damiano says in my mind. "I like this less and less."
"You have no proof of what you're saying! Madeleine passed the rite on her own, it was confirmed by the Council, she has the wolf!" I growl, and the little wolf stands beside us, growling.
"Really? Because it was your brother's idea to hold the rite, wasn't it?" Gerard replies, and he's partly right. I can see Logan's frustration, and the Council members seem pleased. "In fact, you've introduced another woman as your mate," he adds. Irina appears with a victim's expression. That damn woman!
"Is she their true mate?"
"What's she doing with the Night Wolves?" the other Alphas ask, and it all makes me uneasy.
"She's the triplets' true mate, but she was rejected! So they could have a human and fulfil their ambitions. They planned to keep her chained in the dungeons, to have strong children and to make the world believe that the human was the real Luna. But Irina, tired of being mistreated, came to me and asked to be mine" Gerard says, pulling her against his body. His hands grip her tightly, he gives her a few slaps to her ass to prove his ownership, and he smiles at us.
"Alpha Gerard has marked Irina, and thus he has the right to claim the pack where Luna should have been," the councilmen say.
"What kind of madness is this?" I shout. I'm in shock.
"Over our dead body!" my brothers yell.
"There is no proof that she was ever our true mate!" I shout.
"Your brother introduced her as one!" Gerard yells, and Logan is seconds away from turning into his wolf and killing him. It was true that my older brother's actions had caused many problems, but now we had to think of solutions.
"Our only mate was and always will be Madeleine. She's accepted us, she performed the rite, and even the territory has accepted her as such. She also has the mind link. She is our true Luna," Logan explains, taking Maddie hand and holding it out in front of him for all to see.
The marks are clear now, and everyone is very surprised, even Gerard. Allied alphas and of the enemies approach, and I signal Logan to stay by her side and let them examine her.
"We have saw how the territory has accepted her. The power flowed directly to her," says Alpha Roger, and the others nod. The Council sends an emissary to approach.
"A wolf, a moon and a sun... She is the Luna of the wolves and the beings of the sun... The humans," says surprised, and I hear murmurs and gasps of astonishment. I was amazed, too.
"Is it true?" she asks as Logan embraces her from behind.
"Yes, my love... it's true," he says, holding her lovingly. If there had been any rifts between them, they no longer existed. We were a union of four, forever. "Only the true Luna could have achieved that. Irina had always been an opportunist"
"You can feel the connection," says another astonished Alpha. Never before has a human been known to have the mind link.
"That's a lie! Irina is a woman who suffered at your hands!" Gerard shouts, clearly looking for more lies.
"We have proof," Kurt says. One of the warriors hands him the device containing the recording of Gerard's meeting with the other Alphas, including the disturbing scenes with Irina. "See for yourself," he says, handing the phone to one of the Council members, who watches in horror. Not because they didn't know what Gerard had done, but because they had been exposed. Several Alphas approach, Gerard doesn't know what to do.
"This is all a lie! I... I... I was used by the triplets!" Irina cries, but no one cares.
"You were spying on me! They've just confessed to it! You're openly spying on another pack!" Gerard snarls, pushing Irina away now that she no longer serves him.
"We were making sure that a member of our pack was in good health. And, of course, that she wasn't selling information about Moonvalley," Logan replies calmly. Now there's a heated discussion between the Alphas, the Council and our warriors. Gerard is trying to provoke us, and I fear a fight will break out at any moment.
"Kurt, find out from Mafia if there are any more secrets about their pack. We need to gain every advantage possible," I instruct Kurt through the mind link.
"Understood," he replies.
"Let's call every witness we can, everyone who can testify to the abuses of the Night Wolves. This is going to get really ugly."
