Chapter 138
138Our lunch rolled right into dinner as we sat for hours laughing and swapping stories about shit my father and I had discussed earlier and my father being so proud. “She’ll be great in a court room, or in a surgery… she’ll go far in life and I’m just glad to be her father and the one man she can always count on” he said looking at Giovanni who was not offended by what he said and even agreed. “Ha by the time my kids get to her age I’ll be in my 50s and I hope that they understand that too. That’s one reason I make sure I am always there for them no matter day or night. Another reason why I live only a couple blocks from them so that they don’t think just because their mother is dating. I’m not their father or that some other person will take my place” he said. I saw both my parents having a little of a man crush with Giovanni and just wondered if they were going to hold out some type of home for the two of us. I just hoped that I would be disappointing them again when it came to my love life and what their future of me looked like. My parents both had very different dreams for my future and my own was at the top of the list.
Giovanni ended up staying with me all weekend which was nice to have someone around to help me decide on what to do with the space in the basement. Along with helping me look at the space through photos in my new beach house in California. "Damn I need to get me a house there now.... Your dad knows the right people that's for sure...." "Ha-ha well that would be awesome to have you there, but don't you think you should go for a couple of days first and check it out? If you want, we can do that maybe this next weekend if you want fly down on my dad’s jet and you can see it" I said thinking it would be perfect before I left for school. Giovanni could not turn down the offer and knew he had plenty of people to run his gym while away. Along with construction going on and my family being around. "Hmm well sounds amazing, but don't you think you should ask your dad about the jet first....I don't want him freaking out. Thinking that I'm asking to use it, or you know wanting to take you away for the weekend and making it seem like there is more to us then there really is" he said in a little of a nervous tone.
A second later I picked up my house phone and called my father. "Hey daddy..... quick question and don't turn me down until you hear the whole thing ok..." I said before I started again. "Ok.... now I know that you have business on the East coast this next week, which is fine, but I was hoping maybe to use the jet next Friday. To go out to Cali and get the house in shape and even do a few walk throughs with people who are interested. Also, I have been working with Gio on the space there and he would really like to see it for himself. If it's alright he could tag along, and I'll make sure the hours used is paid by me to Donnie" I said crossing my fingers. 15 mins later I got the go ahead about using the Jet and even paying for it myself since the gas was what cost the most. "Thanks daddy, yes I'm coming over tonight to discuss the arrangements on the funeral. I have decided if this is what you and mother need then that's fine. Dr. Mousensore said he can even have something done for us. So that it's still a casket but if at any time I want to do more testing then it'll be able to happen. I just... you both know my reasoning behind it all and if I could give science what they need to create something special. You know to help premature fetus survive outside the womb for the last however many months then I'm going to do what I can. Not going to happen for me but you never know who might need saving one day I've lived long enough to know that it's worth it. Yes, I know mother and you have your feelings I have mine as well" I said quickly.
My father let me go before we were both sobbing. and I promised to be there for dinner with him and my mother without company tagging along. Even if Giovanni made things so much more, calmer when it came to my parents. "Ok..... well Friday is a go so Donnie will meet us at the tur-mac around 6am in the morning so if that works for you? We are going to California for the weekend!" I said and his eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. Giovanni had me in his arms in seconds and swinging us both around "OMG.... wow I mean I just.... wow I have a lot in my life and just this opportunity is amazing. I never flew in a private jet before... my daughter is going to be so jealous she loves planes as you know.." he said kissing me hard on the mouth. I couldn't help but laugh and happy for him since he was at this moment my only friend. As the guys were gone and Catherine had refused to answer my calls. Her parents kept saying she was gone. "Well than it's not that big of a deal but take lots of photos and then when they get back and I'm still here she can get a full tour...." I stopped thinking about Sharene who had not called in a couple of days.
The whole thing left me feeling sad but also happy hoping that she was slowly moving on. "I have a question..... ummm Sharene is in school for business, nutrition and is a health nut.... right now she's doing work on yachts as a stewardess. I know she hates being away from her daughter... she also lives in Florida where her in-laws and husband are from. I—I’m not sure if I should even tell you since it's not my story to tell but.... her husband died a year ago in combat and her daughter is only about 9 weeks old... I am not sure if you might know of anyone in her area that could help her out with a job. Ummm that would be about what she's making on a weekly basis on the ships and yachts. I haven't talked to her in like a week as you know since I ended things, but my mother talks to her on a daily basis. Anyways I am not even sure why I'm asking since I'm trying to keep my feelings out of it all. However, I do care for her and just want her to be able to see her daughter everyday instead of only a couple times a week if that. She's missing out on the most important bonding moments, and I guess call me...."
