The truth was that the whole reason any of us were in the situation was due to something I had no idea of and was not even born when it started, and my father was only a teenage man who was ahead of his years in so many ways. I was lost in thought when the announcement came on that we were descending and that we would be to the strip in under 15 mins with everyone sitting upright and putting away their things they were working on. Leona was finally aroused enough to see that I was there in front of her and looking out the window as I had moved the curtain back even though I couldn't see a damned thing but city lights in the distance. I did not look at her and she didn't say anything to me to get me to look at her as she was too busy looking out the window and back at her watch. Once the plane landed the team got out first with Leona being the first one out and down the stairs checking the SUVs' that were waiting for us and I was at the door waiting for the clear with Lola and Lexi who were in front and behind me. "Jesus this is getting crazy it's 1am and I just want to get back to bed and in a real bed not being jerked around... yet I have to now wait and does anyone know if my father is going to be meeting us there now or what? He should not even have to be doing that with my mother on bed rest... I don’t see why we could not have just somehow secured a line for him to be video teleconferenced in. I mean I know we all need the answers that he obviously has that we don't to finally get this psycho off the streets" I bitched feeling tied down for the past 3 days.
Lola just looked at me as she stood in front of and her look was all business while Lexi was at my back radiating some real heat and vibes that I hated that I could read so well. Once we had the, all clear given I was carefully walked down the stairs and hovered over as we walked to the SUV. I was in the back with Leona on one side and Lola on the other. Lexi, Paxton drove separate while Bailey drove us along with another guy next to him and the other members of the team all in another SUV or two which drove me insane the way they drove and took turns and made U turns which drove me bonkers. "OK, I am sure there is no one following us by now so can we please get to our destination and get on with this so I can either sleep or do something about this psycho path who has put not only me in danger but anyone who comes into contact with me or my father. I just need this to be over so I can move on and go back to school like a normal fucking human being" I bitched again as the pain in my body was at it's all high. I knew I now needed my mother who had one of the best medicine woman to make me up something that would help my body chemistry since it was unlike anyone else's and most medications didn't work or could potentially hurt me in the long run.
Digging my phone out of my bag after it was given back and upgraded to a black phone which was just a fancy way of saying untraceable and sent out messages to those who had been clogging up my voicemail and texts with their worry. I had sent one big group text from Sharene all the way to Asher's family back on the island and my families island since everyone was calling my parents everyday making sure I was fine. "Hi all, it's me Mia... I am ok and I'm sorry to have you all worried about me... I was taken into a secure location where I am now just resting, so just relax and I will update when I can" I did not want to say more than that since we didn't know how much the psycho knew or what his capabilities where. Leona still had not said a word to me even after we arrived outside what looked to be an abandoned building with what looked to have guards everywhere including on the building tops and knew that they were there to not just protect me but protect the men and woman in the other cars that held my father. We drove up next to the other SUVS and before I knew it the SUVS were pouring out with men and woman and I finally saw my father as he was in the middle and taken into the building to our right and once he was safe inside my team got out and gathered around my door ready to get me out of the back and into the building with my father.
My whole body along with my emotions, I had just wanted to get out and run to him seeing his face looking so upset and confused as he had not been told exactly what was going on and his team only knew what Bailey thought was safe for them to know before we reached them. Finally, once inside the building my father ran to me picking me up and swinging me around with the pain just exploding everywhere. My team was at my side with Bailey in charge asking my father to be gentle. "What do you mean be gentle what the fuck is going on....?” He demanded to know in a tone that I knew all too well. I felt him flex even though he had loosened up and refused to let me go as he felt he now needed to keep me safe and away from my team. "D---A---D----D--Y........P-L-E-A-S-E.....I need you to let go....." I begged as I was breathless now in more pain than I could hardly bare any longer. The moment he let go I fell to my knees, not able to even catch myself with my ribs hitting the concrete like a ton of bricks and I just crumbled and rolled up into a ball in agony.
My father was in panic mode and picked me up a second later before anyone else could do it "Really now what...is there a fucking..." "DOC. Get in here" Bailey yelled into his ear piece" cutting my father off. Bailey looked at me as the tears just kept pouring and he looked so pained but in protective mode all at the same time. "Sir I understand you want to know what's happening but if you could please just follow the doc to the little room over here so he can check her out. I'll explain a little more as we walk..." he urged stopping anyone else from following us while my father, Ralph and Bailey walked with the doctor who came running in with his bag. "Ok now I need you to stay as calm as possible as you hold your baby girl because her ribs are really banged up in that... they are all fractured but healing at a rapid speed that I've never seen, but she's still dealing with the pain... she's also been shot in the peck muscle which was about 5' inches from her heart and was a through and through. I'm sorry I couldn't tell you more over the phone, but I would have if it would have been worse than this" Bailey promised as we headed into the room.
30 mins later the doctor was finished with me checking my ribs with the portable x-ray machine and changing my dressing since the stitches had been re-opened. My father was stone faced and he was checked out with all emotion, but I knew they were in there since the way he touched my ribs and chest where I had been shot. "Daddy.....I am ok.... Now we really need your help with this ummmm it's my fault that Vi is dead and well it goes back before I was even born. I have evidence that somehow you are involved or someone you know is involved and that's one reason we are here... I have been doing what I can in you know my dream state" I whispered. "But the thing is I'm getting zilch, nada...I'm sorry to do this to you right now but we also have a list of who's next to die if me and me alone don't figure this out. I just don't know why it has to be me since I have no idea what is happening. I thought at first it had been something just random and they had found me as a useful tool for the police, challenging or just someone to toy with" I sighed trying to catch a breath as we walked out of the room even though I was asked to stay and rest.
Bailey wanted to take over the conversation and talk but I knew that it was me and my father who needed to be at the forefront of this and get down to business. "Bailey... I'm sorry to have to say this but to be honest...you know that now me and my father have to figure this out, but that doesn't mean I don't need you and the others but if we are going to figure this out I need to focus and stop with the babying. I can't be left in the dark and only brought in on things you all need help figuring out, because this is now coming down to other peoples’ lives that I can't stop unless I figure it out. So now is the time to get cracking on what we have so I want it all up on big screen that I saw in that other conference room" I demanded and now taking charge. My father was right next to me and agreeing even though he didn't even know the half of what was happening for the last 3 days now. Bailey sighed and gave in since he knew that I was right, and he gathered everyone from my team while Ralph gathered my father's team for what I knew would be a long night.
