Book 2: In The Life of Mia: College Chapter 9
Riding alone was not that fun so after going to the town line I turned around and rode back letting the throttle out and driving as fast as it would go which was faster than I had gone on any other bike. I knew I wanted both bikes but thanks to the other side telling me to think twice and not to drive so fast because I had way too much to live for I decided that maybe I did not need either of them. “I guess I don’t need them since I have 2 already in California… but then again they are fun and I don’t have to ride them so fast either, or maybe I have one of them shipped to…yes that’s what I’ll do since I pretty much walk everywhere I go there while Bailey and Lola follow me in the Suburban or sports cars” I thought to myself. I decided by the time I got to the gate of my parents estate that I would keep them both but one at my parent’s house and have one shipped the next day to Oxford for my driving there and loved my decision whether anyone else loved it or not. I got back to the house and found the rest of our guests gone except my parents, grandparents, Savannah, Bruce, Sebastian, and Sharene’s parents and in laws who were all hanging out and talking baby shop and weddings. I sneaked in through the garage and stayed hidden as I listened to them all talk and smiled when Savannah and Sebastian sounded so in love. I knew how they were so perfect for one another and I was truly happy that they had all gotten passed the sex part that Sebastian and I had over the summer.
Madeline cried out from one of the rooms that had the door opened but not loud enough for anyone to hear or if they did they just ignored her hoping she’d go back to sleep since it was past her bed time. I found her with a little sound machine going with little lights on the ceiling that showed animals dancing. “Oh wow… they make some cool things for babies…” I whispered as I got closer and Madeline jumped a little but smiled up at me. She immediately calmed down when I stuck my hand inside the crib, watching her latch on with her tiny little fist wrapping around my finger. “Good grip Maddie, maybe you’ll play ball or something when you get older… but then again you are a girl and you have a very girly mother.. ha-ha she sure loves dance, fashion, being healthy and well I guess she’s a little sporty too not really sure though since we have never really talked about it. Either way you’ll turn out to be whatever your little heart desires to be and she loves you too much to let you fail at anything so be ware kid that’s what mothers are for” I was not sure how long I had been there talking to her but she had fallen asleep just towards the end of it which made me smile and think about my girls. “The 3 of you girls would be best friends I bet…. But you’ll have a little play mate in about 6 months, my moms’ baby, my baby brother and her friend Jaclyn will be having 3 of her own in about ummm wow well not to long from now actually since she’s due like the end of this month or next can’t remember” I ramble on to myself after kissing her little hand that was still wrapped around my finger.
I stayed a min longer to just watch her breath and it touched me so deep that I had pictured the girls next to her protecting her when Sharene or anyone else was not around. “We are always watching her, we have been since the day we knew you would not just back away from the young lady and now she is forever protected” my grandmother’s voice’s rang out in the air. “She can see you all can’t she? That’s why she smiles so much when I’m around… so it’s true most people are born with some type of ability but outgrow it when they stop believing?” I ask out loud. “Hey…. you ok in here… I didn’t we didn’t even hear you come in” Sharene whispers from behind me as she snuck in the room. I looked over my shoulder and saw her standing in the doorway along with my mother and hers and slowly backed up and away from Madeline’s crib. “Ummm sorry I came in through the garage and I heard her cry out so just checked in on her….” “Ya we heard her too but left her be since she does that from time to time like babies do darlin’…” my mother informs me with a smile that had me looking at her a second time. “You can hear me….” I thought to myself just to see but she did not react at all, so I just brushed it aside. I left the room needing to get something to drink and find something for an impending headache that I could feel making its way up. “Mia, where are you going?” my mother asks as she follows me towards the kitchen. I sigh “To the kitchen mother since I’m sure leaving is out of the question..” I mutter more to myself even though I know she can hear me. My family on the other side making tsking sounds not too pleased that I have an attitude towards my mother who’s done nothing wrong.
My parents both now follow me into the kitchen while everyone else had seemed to find their manners and had disappeared which I was happy about. I waited for what felt like forever for one of them to speak, but when nothing came I decided that I did have something to say "Ok well you two just figure this all out and please with all the unspoken words and anxiety from you both is driving me nuts... not to mention your son Ethan's shit from not too long ago and my head can't take much more..." I whispered not wanting anyone else to overhear us. They both gasped and stared at one another while I stepped away searching for medicine. "Ok seriously where are all the meds for a headache with ringing in my ears..?" I ask and the housekeeper manager came from somewhere behind me handing me a couple of pills. "No need to clog your immune system with garbage try these natural supplements" she hands me a couple pills with a smile before kissing my cheek. "Thank you... Mrs. Juneson.." I whisper and grabbed a bottle of water. I had said good night to my parents and the rest of the family needing a bed and everyone let me go for now, but I could tell there was more they wanted to say. Sharene had not come out of the room where she had been with her in laws and parents who were down the hall from her room, and I went on the hunt to say good night.
15 mins later Sharene and her family had said their goodnights and I was happy not to have to explain why I was tired or why I was heading up for bed at only midnight. “I’ll see you all in a few hours for breakfast and thank you for being here for my party and meeting me and my family. I hope you enjoyed yourselves and that you’ll enjoy tomorrow as it’ll….sorry later on today since it is after midnight… it is a big day for us as it’s a big thing for my business partner and I” I am nervous about the day to come and hope they can’t see it as I’m just wanting to sleep and hopeful to get a full nights rest. “See you in the morning and can’t wait to see what the gym has to offer, and if it’s what Sharene has been talking about the last few months I am sure it’s going to be great. You and your partner should be proud. Now go on and get some rest and sweet dreams young lady” Ari says with a soft gentle smile. I had almost asked for Sharene to come with me, but my brain had caught up and slapped me in the head reminding me that she had other obligations and it was not all about me and what I wanted.
After finding my room on the 4th floor and seeing all my gifts gently placed on the table I was happy that my bed was turned down which told me it could have been a number of people, but by the note on the pillow I knew who it had taken care of it. The note had been as simple as “Mia, sleep well and I know you are probably wishing I were here, but for so many reason’s it won’t happen. See you in the AM, sweet dreams my love -Shar xoxo” along with a nice big lip print and her smell all over it. I held it to my chest for what felt like forever as I walked into the walk-in closet and stripped to get ready for bed just needing to mentally shut down for the night. “Hey…what the hell was that about…. I am just trying to help….I am not sure how I become the bad guy in all this mess? I am supposed to be the one to make it easier and yet you are seeing me as the enemy now….I am dead for goodness sake” Ethan says as he stands next to me. I sigh “How about you run through the halls up here and see just how dead you are because you’re a fucking alive all through this house….don’t get me wrong it’s great they are moving on and even having another baby which is great, but lets pray they don’t name this one Ethan too. Now can you please just leave me be for the rest of the night…. All of you just tonight my birthday that’s all I ask and let me get some real rest for once” I plead with them all as they now all gather round me as though they’ve come to celebrate me on their time now.
