My alarm on my phone went off and I was jolted giving Leona the advantage as she took me to my back on the mat and I just had to give up tapping the mat as she had me in a position that had me gasping for air. “D-am-n o-k we-ll th-i-s r-o-u-n-d is y—o—u—r—s and you… can… keep… it” I was gasping trying to catch my breath as I tried taking in as much air as possible. I rolled to my side when she finally let me free and stay splayed flat on the mat on my front. Bailey came up to me with my phone and just looking at it I saw Sharene’s face lighting up the screen. “Hello…. you seem to be busy… hope you are getting a good work out since… I am about to board the plane with your parents” she was all smiles which got me to my feet in the split of a second. “What the hell… and should I bother asking where you are all going…. Damn it…. I guess I’ll see the 4 of you when you get here… I have to go and shower and get to class here soon since I have a test in my first class….” I sighed still trying to catch my breath and hitting the end button. Leona had heard the whole thing, “Umm they are coming here now… that really is not a good thing you know especially with your mother being so far along in pregnancy and well this case not safe which now the internet has you on a video with Violina’s family and it could possibly be a very bad thing for them to come here” she is back to being all business and almost questioning me now.
8:30 am was approaching quick as I was rushing to get showered, dressed, blow drying my hair and getting it situated the best I could before leaving the house and heading to school. I was pulling up my panties and tight jeans when Leona walked into the room and gasped as she saw me, and I was not sure what to do. “Ummm sorry I am just about done and didn’t even hear the knock…” I eyed her with a brow raised and a quirk of my lip and she handed me what looked to be a smoothie. “Your security told my chef what you like and well here is the smoothie and the rest you can take with you since I know you have to get going. I really hope we can work out again together and you have an amazing body and I need to get going myself so if you want leave your stuff here and I’ll have them cleaned and either drop them off at your place unless you want to keep them here” she had been talking so fast that it was like a tornado in my head. “Ahhh ok slow your roll I’m good with keeping this all here since now I know where I’m coming every day and that was awesome and you have a good bod too” I had given her the same in appreciation to her body too. “Nah nothing like yours but thank you… do you do steroids or something…” “Oh hell no nothing like that, just very, very, careful what I put into my body. Plus, whatever I eat that doesn’t help a body even though it looks like it and the taste buds explode I work it off in double time. One reason I stick to smoothies and the other things in the morning when I have the time” I am still trying to calm my thoughts as I followed her out of the room.
Bailey and Lola drove me to school in silence even though they were both bristling about something and I knew it had to be the fact that my family and Sharene were on their way there. “Well they are going to have to rent a place for themselves because my place is not large enough even with the extra room I have. I am sorry that all this is getting out of hand and for leaving without your protection yesterday, but I promise it was nothing but a cemetery that I visited with the DC showing me a few historical things” I promised trying to calm their nerves a little. Bailey sighed looking at me in the mirror. “Mia remember who you are talking to please… I am your head of security and know your every move even if you are not in our line of sight or current surroundings!” he was very intense now and I knew he was worried, but not about me as he was now having to worry about who would be with us shortly. I was done with my test in double time and hoping that I was even answering them correctly since my head was on other things. I was the 2nd to finish and after leaving class I noticed that I had an email coming through from the class I had just left and opening it I about passed out as I saw that I had aced my last test before leaving and the test I had just done I passed with a 95 getting only 1 question wrong. “Well that’s weird since I just walked out 5 mins and there were two essay questions on there” I was now talking to myself and wondered just how I could even be as smart as I was when it seemed as of late I was falling apart and not even as focused as I once was. I went onto my next class after stopping at the restroom and taking care of business. I was not surprised when my other 3 classes had surprise tests which made me irritated and there was a good chance I would fail since I had been gone for a couple days when classes were in session.
After my final class I found DC Valdez standing near Bailey and Lola and talking about only GODs knew which was only going to add more stress for me on an already stressful day. “Hi, ummm how is everything with Vi’s case going? Any new leads or…” “We are looking into a few things that her family told us today and they are not the friendliest people and thanks to you they said that they’ve been looking into a few people from back home. Not much I can do about Canada, but I got a tip this morning when someone called and said they had seen her with a guy a few times and were pretty cozy in a bar. I went to the pub earlier and am having the tapes sent over and thought maybe if you had time you could come by and look over them with me. I’m hoping if we can find the guy you can identify him since I’m not really holding out hope when it comes to her family helping since I really don’t think it was anyone from her home town. Call it my gut feeling….” she was giving me that look that told me she might know more than what she was saying. I checked my watch and it was already almost 5:00pm, “Damn well I can come for about an hour or so or longer if these two can trust that I am safe and make sure that they call me when the family gets into town” I was looking to them now for confirmation. Bailey just gave me a sour faced look and got into the driver’s seat “Don’t worry about your folks, but it’s not that we don’t trust the police… but we will be following you to the station. I’ll make sure that Lexi and Paxton inform us when your parents and Sharene arrive” Lola was now more irritated than I had ever seen her before.
Lola came into the station with me while Bailey stood outside and watched the area around and I knew he was angry since I was deliberately disobeying his safety protocols. “Ok Valdez let’s get this show on the road before I have to leave to see my family who can’t listen to me when I say I’m fine” I hated that I was using her for a barrier for my issues with my parents as we entered a different room this time and started watching footage of cameras from a local pub we often hung out in. “STOP with the Valdez unless you see my boss around or another police officer, but until then you know my damned name” she snapped with a little growl. I gave her a sideways smile before sitting in the chair she pulled over for me and made me sit before she sat in her seat. I was thankful to have Lola guarding the door and not actually in the room with us as Leona was ripping me a new one for using her last name. “So, Leona what made you become a police officer and then a DC higher ranking right? I remember you saying something about your family being the reason you chose this life..” “That questioning is off the table right now… but maybe I should ask why you chose to come all the way here for school instead of staying back home in the states” she was now in her elements so figured she’d do all the questioning and I was left to wait.
