Book 2: In the Life of Mia: College Chapter 85

Bailey stepped forward and spoke firm but softly, “Mia, I have things set in motion and Paxton and Lexi are heading back to Oxford now to retrieve your things. I know of a place we can stay but I’m not going to be living in a small ass apartment so you have, well days to decide which places you like out of the ones I have been scouting for weeks already.” My father stood up and nodded to Ralph who stepped up close and grabbed my arm, “You are to go with Ralph and Bailey back home where your mother is waiting to see you. I am not letting you go back to that man so you can call Maureen and tell her you are not going to be coming with her back to wherever the hell it is that he was keeping you” my father was very matter of fact as he gave his orders. I didn’t argue and decided that I’d call Billy instead, “Hey it’s me I am not going to be coming back right now, my father is making me go back home where he thinks I’m safer. I will make sure that nothing happens to you ok, now call your brother and tell him what I just said ok and go back to him and wait until I call you ok” I had told him so he’d get the message loud and clear. “Also make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid since I will continue to keep my promise and will rejoin you both soon” I promised when he started to breathe heavier into the phone before I hung up.

Ralph and Bailey got me safely inside the SUV and I was feeling like a failure already and the tone in Billy’s voice was that of a scared little boy again but understood. “If you were my girl I’d do the same thing..thank you for everything Mia…Maureen will be coming back to the house shortly and we’ll get started and bunker down until we hear from you and your father” his voice was all I heard the whole way out. I sank into the seat and cried with Bailey and Ralph politely trying to ignore me even though I could read their thoughts. “Just so you both know I was in no real danger and when it comes to me you will figure that out if you haven’t already. I know you both want to know how I got out of Leona’s fortress, but it is a long story and it doesn’t matter how much security you put you’ll never be able to keep me under lock and key. Bailey when we get back to the house we need to seriously have a discussion with Lola as well and I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you before this already started, but I trust you enough to tell you things that Ralph probably knows more about being in this family of mine since I was a baby” I did my best to keep my emotions in check even though I had already cried a good amount of the way. Bailey looked at me and looked as though he too had something to say something which I was afraid of what it might be in that he might be leaving.

Ralph had stopped at the intersection and part of me wanted to get out and run so that Billy would not give up hope that I would stop helping him. “I suppose you wouldn’t just let me out here and tell my father I took off on you both and let me go back to Billy so he doesn’t do anything stupid or decide to run would you?” I asked softly. Ralph looked in the rearview mirror and smiled, “That would not be a good idea if I want to keep my job and not be crucified by your mother. She’s been out of her mind even though you have ummm well you know and she’s just not feeling well which she should be on cloud nine with a new born” he scolded me and I knew I was guilty of hurting everyone around me. “I know what I’ve caused and I’m sorry for what it’s worth but I’m seeing this thing through. You can think I am crazy but….Billy and I are one in the same but no one will even give him the time of day to explain and that’s why I chose to record everything he had to say including his sister who is just as much a victim as he is. I hope you keep an open mind if that is possible” I practically begged not just him but Bailey too as I leaned my head back against the head-rest. We pulled up outside the house and I saw cars all over the place which told me that there were people visiting and hoped they would not give me shit.

Bailey looked at me and sighed “I sure hope you are ready…. They are all worried about you and have been. I hope you are ready since you have a lot of people who are going to put you through hell before the day is over with” he smiled enjoying it all even though he saw the hell on me already as the gates opened and we slowly drove through to the front of the house. I let both men out while I took a few extra mins to just clear my head and focus on the next step that I knew would be a round of people lecturing me for probably the rest of my life and I knew I had to suffer through it regardless. I tapped on the window and Bailey opened the door and stepped in front of me. “Hey would it be possible for you to just get me in the house, to the elevator with you and Lola up to the 4th floor so I can talk to the two of you first before I have to deal with my family?” I asked. Bailey called through his earpiece and Lola came running out looking just as pissed as I’d ever seen her, and she practically tackled me as she held me close. “OMG….. I can’t believe you are really here…” she scolded, and I stiffened needing to stay as calm and business like as possible. “Get me to the 4th floor ASAP, the two of us need to speak and decide where we go from here and whether or not the two of you want to stay” I was now more serious toned than they had ever heard me before.

Bailey and Lola did what I asked even though everyone in the house was angry and sobbing as I did not want to talk to anyone at the moment and refused to even look at them or speak to them which made them think I was suffering from being kept captive for almost a month and a half. Bailey locked the 4th floor from anyone being able to access it from the elevator as we went into the office my parents had designed for me. They had decorated it with even more pictures of me and my brother Ethan which was a tad obnoxious. The moment Bailey closed the door they both stood close to it while I stepped back and refused to face them at first hoping they could handle what came next which would not be easy for me to show them. “I hope you both can trust me and keep this between the 3 of us for now since I’m not big on sharing and it takes a lot out of me. When it comes to this new part of me that I am only beginning to learn about myself since well the beginning of summer. So if you both can keep an open mind that would be great” I whispered as I closed my eyes and got ready to show them just how I escaped from Leona’s and went to my childhood home. “What the hell are you doing… this is not the time to start mediating or whatever the hell you are doing” Bailey groaned. Lola got closer to watch me “Shh Bailey just give her a moment this looks like it’s difficult for her already and it’s an honor that she can trust us this much to do this” Lola was now full of excitement just waiting to see what would happen next.

Finally after a good 5 mins of getting my head cleared and focused on what I wanted to do which was not going to be a very big jump for me since I was only going as far as the other side of the door. “Ok just make sure not to blink or you’ll miss it” I laughed. A second later I took in a sharp breath and transported myself from the room to the hallway just outside the office door. I could hear them both freaking out in the room and opened the door before I could even knock on it. “JESUS CHRIST THIS IS GOT TO BE A FUCKING JOKE RIGHT…. I MEAN I BELIEVE IN SUPERNATURAL SHIT AND HAVE AN OPEN MIND BUT AS FOR THIS… I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO THINK AT THIS MOMENT”
Bailey was crazy with emotion as he stepped passed me and headed for the elevator. “Please Bailey don’t tell anyone and if I get your resignation letter soon I understand….Lola, if you are with him too just go already ok” I was now out of my mind irritated turning back to look at her which she was just staring at me as though I was an alien or something from another planet. “I—I’m not exactly sure what to say… but as for leaving no I am here to stay and have never felt so good about what I’m doing and love you and your family to much to just walk away” she admitted coming up and holding my hand before joining Bailey at the now opened elevator.
