Book 2: In The Life of Mia: College Chapter 7
Madeline still screamed as I walked around the room with her talking to her in a low whisper and even at times singing to her even though I only sang when I was drinking and it was usually at karaoke on just free styling it. I was about to give up when I gave her another good pat and rub on her back just at the right angle and she spit up everywhere and I was now covered in baby spit and breast milk along with what looked like oatmeal or something like it. “Ok well that says it all, you are now transitioning slowly into baby cereal… bad belly ache…” I whispered to her as Sharene approached with a towel and a clean shirt for me. I passed Madeline back to her as I took the shirt and the towel and as I stepped away Madeline was freaking out again a short time later with Sharene trying her best again to calm her down and feeling less like a mother all of a sudden. I had stepped down the hall again to go to the restroom and freshen up along with getting the smell of baby puke off of me which would not just come off and knew I had to shower if it was going to come off completely. I found a few of my own clothes in the room that we had been in which was odd but figured it was because my parents wanted me to stay the night or even the whole 5 days with them. I was in the shower for a good 5 mins until I heard Madeline’s cries getting closer and Sharene who was now upset because her baby would not stop crying. “I have never had this problem before, and not sure if she’s sick since she’s never been anything but healthy.. I have made sure to keep her away from people all this time and then I met you and just threw it all to hell… ugh I’m sorry this is not your fault..” she says as she joined me in the bathroom and walked Madeline around.
Not sure what to say or do I started talking loud enough for Madeline to hear me and she started to calm down and raise her head looking around as though she was looking for me “Ok well she’s smiling but still fussing so could you please wipe the class so she can see your face at least…” Sharene said with irritation in her tone. I wiped the glass door just enough for Madeline to see me and she laid her head down on Sharene’s shoulder and watched me as her mother stayed bouncing her in place. “See you are ok little Maddie… can you calm down all the way now and maybe let your mother relax and stop freaking out?” I asked sweetly with a smile and she smiled back as I felt it touch my heart. “Ok ummm I am naked and need to get out so can you umm take Madeline out so I can….” “Ha seriously she’s only going on 4 months and a couple of weeks so just get that fine gorgeous body of yours out here and put on a show for me at least while I turn so, she can’t see. Plus, I’m sure she’s about to pass out now just by her breathing I can tell” Sharene says and I grunted but got out when she moved to have Madeline facing the other way. It was very surreal for me as I was watching Sharene being a mother while I was busying myself around the bathroom to get dressed and blow dry and brush my hair. It was not the first time she had made me feel that way as the last week or so at home in the states before college and our time together I saw what a great mother she was and was in complete awe of her.
Madeline refused to sleep though no matter what, she looked as though if she just closed her eyes and fell asleep, she would miss something if she did as she watched me. I continued my tasks as I put hair into a tight French braid and thought maybe I would get a cut before going back to Oxford. I was deep in thought about if I should change my look since my hair was now reaching the tip of my ass and it grew like a weed as it was and was cutting it a couple of inches every month. “Hmmm do you think I’d look good if I shortened my hair to like my shoulder?” I asked turning around to face Sharene who was staring at me along with Madeline. Sharene’s face told me she did not like the idea of me cutting my hair, coming towards me and finally reaching out with her free hand touching my side as it was showing through my shirt that had cuts along the side of it. “I love this tattoo of the girls’ feet prints’ and they are so cute and tiny…” she leaned over and kissed the footprints tattoo. I was starting to get hot and pumped the breaks as there was a baby between us and it just wasn’t cool to me to do anything with her wide awake looking at me. “Ummm stop…. Please baby eyes here and that is turning me on… so how about you take a cold one or something and give me Maddie” I cough putting out my hands. Sharene handed me Madeline just as the bedroom door opened and once again my parents were in the room with us. “Ok now that you have disappeared a couple of times how about we get back to the party. You also have a visitor along with Sharene having visitors that just arrived and would like to see you darling” my mother says softly.
Sharene looked at me and her eyes went wide as she looked down at her watch on her wrist “OMG it’s already that time….crap, crap, they did said they’d be on the later side and well it’s time for dinner too… ummm Mia shall we” she says anxiously grabbing my hand as I held Madeline. I was so confused but just went with it and as we were now approaching the front foyer, I saw 4 people that were complete strangers to me but knew Sharene very well. I was introduced to the 4 new people who greeted my parents with hugs and proper introductions as they had not met them in person yet. “Daddy, Mama this is the lovely Mia Ribbonowski…. Mia these are my folks Ari and Gemma Babonoise” she says and backs up a little as I reached my hand out to shake their hands, but they had other things in mind as they hugged me instead. I was in panic mode again and felt violated but just held on unlike I would have been able to do months ago and the people who knew me well including Sharene all watched anxiously as I finally stood tall and calm. I was then introduced to Sharene’s in-laws who must have got my vibe as I was now just like a statue. “Mia these are my in laws Arlo and Damara Williamson….” She introduces her dead husbands parents now with a smile as she could see that her in laws seemed to smile from ear to ear as they shook my hand tight. “It’s so great to finally meet you after months of hearing all about you…” “Yes we were not sure if we’d ever get the chance actually until your parents insisted we come down and see Sharene and Maddie also informing us that you’d be coming home from college for a few days for your Golden birthday” the two mothers said as they took my arm.
Gemma and Damara had walked me and Madeline to the room that held the food and drinks after we were all called by the chef to enjoy dinner now that it was ready and I finally passed Madeline off to her grandfathers who wanted her. I was now able to do what I did best and grabbed the ladies special drinks that fit their personality and they loved them so much they downed the first 2 in seconds and sipped the next one as they ate. I needed a little space so decided now what a perfect time for a speech as everyone had their hands and mouths full and I could talk without interruption. “Good evening all, first let me say sorry for disappearing a couple of times… ha-ha you know how us girls can be you know us we just need time to ease into things… ha-ha especially those of you who know me…” I stopped in my tracks when in walked Sebastian holding white roses, pink, and red all in separate wrapping. “Ummm sorry about that where was I umm, yes I wanted to thank you all for coming and spending my Golden birthday with me and if you are all free tomorrow I’d love for you to come on down to the grand opening and re-opening of our gyms. I hope you all have enjoyed your evening of food, and drinks along with intelligent conversations and if not, you might want to rethink friendships now….” I busted up laughing along with everyone else as they got the joke.
Sebastian finally smiled in my direction when I stopped talking and had smiled at him basically giving him the ok to approach me which was his mistake thinking I would be ok and he put the flowers down on the counter and headed towards me. I stepped back and opened the back sliding door and stepped out onto it not wanting anyone to over hear what I had to say not wanting the new people to think I was crazy or dangerous for their daughter and granddaughter to be around. Sebastian now saw the heat of anger in my eyes as he stepped out the back door with me while everyone was back to conversating again. “So now you want to come around…. I should kick your ass right here right now for you even thinking I wouldn’t be fucking pissed. Not just because you told my parents and my aunt what happened between us, but for you to come here now without even a telephone call, text message something to warn me or ask if you could come. You fucking broke my heart in a way that you could not even imagine, and not in the way you are looking at me but because I thought we were friends but then again you were paid to fucking like me and basically fuck me when we were fucking…..” “STOP…. STOP IT NOW….” he yelled out but in a tone that didn’t reach higher than a normal volume. I crossed my arms and tapped my foot as the anger was rising so quickly, I lost control and popped him with a good right hook to his jaw so hard he stumbled backwards but stayed up right.
