Chapter 46
Jake stayed with me finishing up his breakfast after tending to me once more "Your family seems great, but then again I just got here late last-night after your father vetted me... ha sounds a little funny, but true I was just about to sign with a couple of medical partners who were looking for a concierge Dr.. Must have been a sign though since I am now my own boss and your father made it worth my wild" he said even though I didn't ask for the details. I figured he was trying to get me to relax so he could get to know me on a level that was normal for a concierge Dr. "Nice, and yes my father doesn't like to hear the word maybe or no, so I'm sure he probably offered you the world..." I said with a sarcastic laugh. Jake got the tone well since he stood and took his now empty plate to the sink and rinsed it before placing it in the dishwasher. "I look forward to the tour of this island along with the next one later.... I'm going to head out and back to my cabin. Call me when you are ready to head out and I'll meet you at the docks" he said before leaving out the back door.
As he headed out towards the front I turned and watched him leave while at the same time my father was heading back in and this time with the rest of our guests. Who he had accosted outside for some reason. "Hi baby girl... ready for breakfast, and before you say no take a good look at my face and think long and hard about your answer" my father said in such a way that told me I better not argue. My father towered over me and scowled for a minute as I was thinking to myself and before I could get the words out my father had me in his arms carrying me through the door and into the dining room. "Damn it I'm not a child, and isn't that what Sebastian is for since he's my babysitter?" I said groaning under my breath. My father tightened his grip before planting me in my seat next to the head of the table where he would be sitting along with my mother on the other side. The table had grown a good foot in a half to accommodate the guests who my father had invited to the house. "Thank you for that..... so why do I have to sit in here and not able to choose whether to eat or not?" I asked feeling the need to argue for some unknown reason. My father gave me a look that spoke volumes and I could not help but laugh out loud causing everyone to stop and stare. My father gave me a sideways smile and stayed standing but now faced the guests. "I just wanted to thank you all for such a successful day yesterday.. my wife had such a fantastic time along with my daughter who is now down for the next 10 days from doing any activities in the water or that would need 2 feet..." "So, I guess I'll be on my back those 10 days..." I knew the moment I said what I had said I was going to be glared at and I was. I did the only thing I could do which was close my mouth and sit quietly as possible. "Anyways before I was interrupted... I want to explain the type of person I am, and I know when I bought the yacht last year it took me just as long to find a Capt. One who was certified to do everything I needed to happen in the next few months. Then came trusting him enough to put a crew together and he went over and beyond my expectations. Most of the people I employ become like family so this is why I wanted to have you all here and have a feast waiting. This is the beginning to a very beautiful relationship, and I know some of you will come and go which is understandable. I do however look forward to getting to know each and every one of you personally. Please don't be afraid to ask questions or put me on the spot if you think I'm wrong about something that you might know more about than me..." I had to cut him off again "Ha-ha nope, nope I would disregard that last part because that's he is a lawyer and loves to argue. So, unless you want a trial to happen all in good fun of course then take it from me and my friends here not to test him in that way." My father didn’t bother to argue knowing I was right, but finally sat after thanking everyone for joining us. I was surprised to see that everyone was finally starting to take their seat and I wasn’t really paying attention to whereas I had my eyes on my friends who were across from me. Catherine and Asher seemed real cozy along with Nicholas and Jose who had started feeding one another. I blinked quickly as someone had placed their hand on my thigh and I thought it might be Sebastian but doubted it since he had taken off somewhere after my father had taken him out back. I finally looked over and found Sharene sitting there and looking even more beautiful than yesterday when we met. She did not look at me right away but kept her hand clinched to my thigh for what reason I had no idea but enjoyed it regardless. I finally went back to the plate in front of me and looked down not really having an appetite and hated when I was forced to. I took my time watching everyone start up conversations and eat enjoying Greta’s food and seeming to enjoy it as they made noises of pleasure. I placed my hand over Sharene’s before she decided to move it leaving me wanting more like she had the night before. She jumped a little as I started to caress her palm as she had turned it over to take my hand in hers. I took joy in knowing I was making her just as restless as I was feeling so that I was not the only one at the table wanting to run, but unable to do so.
