Chapter 31
My father wrapped me up in a towel before helping Sebastian up onto the boat even though he said he would ride his sea-doo back to the yacht. “Father… I’m fine you really need to take a chill pill, it’s not like I’ve never had that happen before. Then of course not quite like that with the dolphins jumping out in front of me, but hey it’s a memory I’ll never forget” I said as I dried myself off. I was glad it did not take long to get dry when I did not wear much when it came to a bikini that basically only covered the area’s that were private. I sat the towel down, quickly taking a seat as the motorboat started to move with Sebastian driving and my father staring at me. “I really wish you would put on clothes or at least shorts because as your father I hate it, but as a man I know what these other men, boys and their hormones are all about” he muttered as he sat next to me. I didn’t bother to argue with my father who was a man that willed power and strength even though he was only 5’11, 250lbs of solid muscle.
My father Ethan knew how to gather a crowed and bring people together and when all was loud and crazy, he knew just how to settle the room. “Father, I know you are only saying this because you’re my father and I love you for that. I just wish you would have a little more faith and trust in me to know that I can handle myself very well. I mean….. ummm well I guess there is no time like the present to tell you the new self-defense classes I’ve been taking for oh about a year now and am actually pretty good at kicking ass. Please don’t tell mother I don’t want her feeling like she doesn’t know me because I usually don’t keep things from her. Nor do I want her worried that something happened and that is the reason I took these classes” I pleaded to my father who was now glaring at me with a hardstone face that said so much.
The rest of the 10-minute boat ride was made in silence with my father sitting as though he was in a business meeting and listening to someone speaking. I was happy when we were on board the yacht and there were more people to talk to. To keep my father from flipping out since he had still not said a word to me. I was starting to think telling him was a real bad idea when he disappeared and a few minutes later my mother came out from wherever she was. I stared for a few seconds at her face trying to gage her mood and see if I could see anything that might tell me that my father ratted me out. I was happy when my mother was gone a second later, but just as stone faced as my father was. “FUCK! Ok well looks like my father had definitely ratted me out to my mother…. That is a new one…” I thought before turning back to our friends who were asking what had happened.
A few minutes later I took the water and the plate of snacks that were handed to me thanking the stewardess. “Thank you, I’m ok though really just a shock as the dolphins jumped right out in front of me. My father likes to blow things out of proportion, but I guess that is a normal father for you. How is it going with everyone else?” I asked the few people who were near me. Catherine, Jose, Nicholas, and Asher had been on another level of the boat since I had yet to see them. I was ok with that because it was their summer too and I just wanted them to have a good time. I was not surprised to see Sebastian back near my side after changing quickly and now the good doctor Jasmine Finnerly who must have heard what had happened and maybe even was told of my news. “Mia….” Jasmine said in such a way that got all the little hairs on my arms standing up. I smiled when she said my name and waited for her to get closer before speaking to her so that I was not yelling or being too loud so that others would be watching us.
Jasmine did not take her eyes off mine as she neared and slowly reached out and touched my hand gripping it tight and urging me to follow her. I finally gave up and followed her to the sofa where she sat and pulled me to sit down next to her and laughed when I about fell on top of her. “Ok goodness I’m sitting, I’m sitting… now what is this all about, because you dragged me along leaving the guests just watching after us instead of tagging along. So, what could you possibly have to say?” I asked wanting to see if she would say something about what I had told my father about on the boat. Jasmine took a deep breath and sat her water down on the table in front of us before turning to face me. “Well, your father and now your mother are even more worried about you then ever, and I told them I would come and talk with you for a few minutes and just see where your head was at. I thought maybe you would feel more comfortable just having a moment for us to talk in private before I start readings. I did a couple already, but your mother thought a group reading would be good to do after I did hers and your father’s together in private. Would you be ok with that…… hmmm very interesting…. You and your brother are quite close, and only recently. He is around you as we speak and is saying a lot without actually having to say a word. He wants you to just listen to what he has to say, but on your own time and when you are ready to accept what he has to say!” she said as she looked around me instead of at me.
After taking a heartbeat longer before answering I took in a deep breath and slowly let it out. “Look Jasmine…. I’m very aware of my brother and what he wants, and yes, we are close and were close before he died. Now we are again I guess you could say that anyways, but it’s a shock to, my overall system too. I do not need you reading me when I already know exactly what you are going to say…. Ugh look this is all new for me and I just do not feel comfortable talking about this with you or anyone else including my parents. I know you are here for support for my father, mother and I guess me, but you are also here for whatever readings you are going to do. I’d just love to be left out of it if that’s ok and I’m sure my father is paying you generously for your time…” “Ha-ha sis she is going nuts in that brain of hers, and she’s very smart, beautiful, and only 23 years old… hmm I wonder if she and dad ever bumped uglies” Ethan muttered cutting me off from what I was saying.
After Ethan’s out-burst I had done my best to keep it from escaping “Ok so since you are here to read me and everyone else… umm so 23 years old, smart, and actually very young to be a psycho-therapist if you ask me. I guess you got to working on your life journey early” I revealed a little something of my own as I leaned in closer causing her to look uncomfortable which is exactly how I wanted her to be since I was too. “Ha well good guess dear, and yes, I’m smart and graduated high school at the age of 13 and straight to college at 14 graduating at 21 years old. I’m taking it that your brother just said something to you since the energy around you got really strong. I couldn’t make anything out about what he was saying it was like white noise on a wave, length I couldn’t understand” she said as she looked at me with even more curiosity when I said what I said. “Well, he said a whole lot, but I’m not repeating the whole thing since a lot of it was inappropriate you know how guys are” I shrugged before taking a big gulp of my water and turning away from her.
Instead of continuing on with our private conversation I called everyone over to join us and Jasmine got closer leaned over in my ear and whispered, “I’ll get you one of these days when you least expect it, and you’ll have nowhere to run….” the words hit all my hot sensitive parts and again. My brother was there in my other ear “Damn girl if that was not an invitation, I don’t know what one would be. Wow this would be hot if I were in your shoes, but in a way, I guess I am. Oh please oh please take her up on her offer.” I smacked Ethan down as the now 10 people on deck with us gathered and took a seat.
