Book 2: In the Life of Mia: College Chapter 41
Leona and I had decided to just keep it professional and watch the recording to see if we could see anything and not 45 mins into the recording we saw a few shots of Violina and the rest of the group from a couple weeks back. “Wow I really don’t remember this night not sure I was even there…” “Yes, but Violina is talking to someone but they are not in view of the camera which maybe they know it’s there.” Leona pointed to the side where the mans, shoulder was sticking out or at least what we figured would be a man. I knew that if we could not find the answers, I would have to somehow use my mind as a recording device. “Is it even possible to do that… I mean if so, I need help in doing so, so that I can play it back to Violina when she’s able to help us” I thought to myself and hoped my family was listening. “Yes dear it’s possible but takes training and you are not even close to that stage…” Amelia informed me with a soft tone and it broke my heart. “Damn it…..” I groaned out loud and Leona looked at me knowing it had nothing to do with the recording at the moment. “Ummm you ok over there… you got something you’d like to share with the class” she half joked but was truly waiting for an answer. “UMMM no nothing right now, but is there a way I could get a copy of this and study it more on my own time… as you can see the reason is that I have this connection with umm Violina before she died and even now I ummm I’m able to kind of talk with her even though it’s a real bad connection” I was unsure if I should share, but it actually felt good to get it out.
Leona looked at me and then smiled “I already knew there was something you were keeping out of the mix and that is one reason I decided to let you in on this since by all accounts Violina really had something for you. Should I ask what that might be? Not that I wouldn’t blame her especially if….” Lola tapped on the glass and Leona got up and moved away from me. I could not help but laugh as though she had just been caught doing something she was not supposed to be doing. “Hey sorry to interrupt but your parents, jet just landed, and they’ll be to your place in like 20” Lola looked from me and then to Leona. “Ok thanks for the heads up, ummm we should be done here soon” she was gone a second later not sure exactly what to say at the moment since my irritation was very high again and I didn’t want to snap. Leona smoothed out her blouse before she took out the flash-drive from the side drawer and stuck in the computer making a copy and looking to be all nerves for some reason. “Hey… what’s your deal you jumped back like you were ready for a fight… ummm how would you like to come back home with me and meet the family on a better level than if my father came down here all hot and heavy. Not that he still won’t later but at least you will be prepared and trust me he can be very persuasive” I hoped she would say yes. “I have to finish up a few things here, but if it’s cool I’ll stop by before I head home which might be a little late” she hands me the flash-drive from the side as we were back watching the recordings.
Bailey and Lola got me home a little after my parents and Sharene who were not looking all that happy when I came strolling in around 8pm and had yet to eat anything which was at least ready for us when I arrived. “I guess you all just had to come because of what… you were worried about my safety even though I have a team that is amazing at what they do...” “Yes, they are but then you go off without them with DC. Valdez and don’t expect us to worry… you have no idea who you can trust and to be honest there are always bad sides to the law enforcement in every country” my father was a ball of anxiety as he got closer and wrapped his arms around me. “D-A-D seriously….you are going to squeeze me to death…” I gasped out tapping his arm. He finally let me go and then my mother stepped up making it a quick one when Sharene was wanting to get at me and crying which I was not sure why. “Hi mommy…. I’m sorry you had to come all the way here, but actually it might be a good thing considering what I’ve found out” I whispered that last part into her ear. She pulled back and looked into my eyes “Really… well then good thing we are here than… Sharene come here doll and get you some lovin’” my mother smiled and finally gave my girlfriend room to step up. Sharene was wrapped around me and on her tiptoes until I finally picked her up and she wrapped her legs around my waist.
Sharene finally let up a little and looked at me “I can’t believe how angry you were earlier when I called… I thought for sure you’d be happy that we were coming for a visit which Maddie is actually fast asleep in your bed” she was so soft and gentle even as she kissed me. I was starting to feel much better that they were there even though we had just seen each other a few days prior. “So how long are you all here for? Only asking because I have a full schedule for school for the rest of the week and am also in the middle of helping DC Valdez on this case, which she is going to possibly stop by this evening to meet you all” I finally set Sharene down on her own feet hoping that my father would not get to upset. “Well I look forward to meeting her when she arrives, but I am putting my foot down with you helping, you don’t even realize how dangerous this is becoming for you. I am not even sure why you’re involved at all after you gave your statement, they should have left you alone. Yet you are now working with her and putting yourself at risk especially with that little stunt on campus with that poor girls, family” my father never held back when it came to his family. “Well to be honest that is one reason I’m doing this because she was my friend, and she didn’t deserve to die like that or even at all. I am already involved per Valdez since she said from all her interviews the one common denominator that kept coming up was well me which I am still stunned since we only hung out alone maybe a handful of times. The rest of the time was during study group or a few times we went to the local pub” I shrug not sure why I was even talking about it.
Dinner was great and just as we were starting on desert Bailey informed us that Leona had arrived and was heading up the walkway after buzzing her through the gate. My Father grabbed the door wanting to be the first one she saw when she walked in and I was sure to also intimidate her if it was at all possible which he did to everyone. I stood to my feet when he refused to let her in the door right away and she almost left “if you can just tell Mia to give me a call later that would be great sir” her tone was that of irritation, but she was better than letting it get to her. “Damn it Ethan… stop it already she doesn’t deserve your bull headedness so back off please. DC. Valdez sorry for his rudeness and that’s how he treats everyone when it comes to me or my mother” I slowly move in front of my father to finally let her in. Leona smiled but it did not quite reach her eyes as they were pretty shocked at my fathers’ outburst “I told you too stop….” I shook my head not wanting my father or anyone else to think there was something else going on when there was not. “Ummm ok than so where is that amazing smelling food, I have not eaten since lunch and your chef is almost better than mine” she finally moves when my father backs up and I move to close the door. “Right this way and I’d love for you to meet a couple more people, my mother Amelia and my baby brother who will be making his debut in about 6 ½ weeks or so. This is Sharene and well that princess you hear crying is Madeline, Sharene’s daughter” I introduce them all before leaving them there.
