Book 2: In the Life of Mia: College Chapter 55
Leona sounded like she had smiled when she replied, "I'm good Sir nice to see you... this is Mia, Mia this is D.C. Braverstone" she was now rolling her eyes when I finally turned around. "Hi, Mia nice to meet you and you can call me Vic... so are you just fresh off the boat or something...only because I've never seen you around here before, but then again I wouldn't if you are fresh meat" he was such a prick and a man who thought he had the gift all woman wanted. I had smiled nicely and did my best to keep Leona from snapping as he had already balled up her fist and was ready to strike. "Ummm ha, no sir I'm not fresh meat as in the way you think of becoming and officer. I actually am a freshman at the university and I'm getting the full treatment of well this I guess my first time holding a gun and about to shoot so if you want to come watch fee....." "No.... he's busy, we are busy and don't have time for social gatherings" Leona bitched and pushed me through the doorway as Vic held it open. I didn't bother asking what the hell that was all about and let her lead me to the far end of the line that held little cubbyhole looking things with targets at different distances. I jumped as the guns went off and was thankful for the muffs Leona had slapped on my head just before we went through the door. I had felt my heart racing which made me feel excited and ready to go even though Leona was taking her sweet time. Leona re-ran through the safety instructions and must not had felt safe for me to hold my own gun as she stood pressed against my back with her hands over mine as I held the gun and together we lined up the shot. "READY" she yelled out and I shook my head "YES".
A second later I pulled the trigger and missed but it didn't help that I had Leona pressed against my back and ass with her front and able to feel her hot breath on my neck. I lowered the gun and placed it on the table in front of me and stepped back with her looking at me like something was wrong with me. "Relax I am going to try it again I just need you to do me a favor and stand back here ok? I want to do this without....umm all that pressed against my back causing me to lose focus ok" I gave her half a smile and she backed right up. She stayed where she was while I put the muff back over the one ear and approached the gun and the target again. I took a deep breath and picked up the gun again before re-lining my shot and closing my eyes for a split second to catch my breathing getting it on the same pace as my heart. I opened one eye and lined up the shot again and pulled the trigger and seeing that I had actually made contact with the target but it was too far to actually see where I had hit it. I felt so good that I repeated it again and again until the clip was empty and still had to have Leona come up behind me to inform that it was out. "HA ok well let's see how well you did shall we?" she could not help herself as she flipped the switch and in came the target. I could see Leona's smile as it appeared as she got a good look just like I had where the targets had landed which were direct hits to the forehead, heart, and where the private parts would be if there was longer paper. "Damn girl....." Bailey’s graveled voice shocked me as he came from behind me and as I turned I was now facing my whole team along with Chief Gomez and a few other officers I had yet to meet but had seen around.
Leona decided that enough was enough after a few rounds and I had beat her every time. She started to get a little razzed by her fellow officers who thought it was cute and that she was letting me win. I could tell though that she was not letting me win since she was looking very pissed off after every round. "Ya my aim is off, but I think it's my gun too, I clean it daily and must not have set the sight properly" she was now trying to make excuses to the crew. Once we finally made it out of the station, I could tell she was still a little frazzled and leaned against my bike as she got onto hers. "Are you mad that I beat you... or mad that the officers all were teasing you about me beating you even though you said it was your gun and they said you were letting me win!" I was hoping it was the latter of things and not the other shit. "Look the guys in there are... that's what they do and of course most of them all think that woman don't belong on the force because we aren't as big, or strong, even though I could take any of them day or night... other than that I could careless and call me crazy but some of them were giving you that look of... never mind lets go" she was all tensed up now as she put on her helmet and backed out of the spot taking off down the road.
Bailey stopped by my bike as he was on the street, "Everything ok.... is she leaving you to go somewhere or are you supposed to try and catch up...." "That female is so jealous it's not even funny...." Lola cut in as though it were news to me. "Ummm I have no idea what her deal is as for jealousy I don't know what for since she's the one with the badge and a gun not me, well not a gun yet. Anyways I'll try and catch up to her or hopefully she just pulls over and waits for us I don't really have a clue. I can only handle my own mood swings and hormones without having to worry about another's any time soon" I shrugged as I got my bike pulled out and ready to hit the street. I started up the bike and headed off to find where Leona had gone and was not clear on the next street she might have taken since I only saw her for a split second. I had made a straight line out towards the countryside, and just as I had made it back towards the street, I had lost her on she came zipping by me slowing for a split second. I followed her and 20 mins later we were up on a mountain side pulling into what looked like a park of some sort or what we called Nature Preserves back in the states. She came to a stop inside a parking spot and I pulled into the one next to her turning off my bike and just sitting there until she made her move not wanting to move before she wanted me to. "COME" she yelled out and getting off her bike and heading up a trail.
Leona did not even bother to say another word and decided on just following her even though I wanted to switch shoes. Bailey and Lola followed along too and were fit so were able to stay with us step for step as we were now at a jog just to keep up with Leona. "DAMN IT I'M IN MY FUCKING BOOTS, THIS IS ONE REASON I BROUGHT HIKING BOOTS" I yelled out as my boots now looked like shit. I was now so pissed that I tackled Leona to the ground once she stopped and paced backed and forth for a min driving me insane to the point I just could not hold it back any longer. She quickly rolled us and took me beneath her trying to pin me, but my rage was undeniable as we played back and forth in the dirt rolling around and around. I finally stopped fighting and when she thought she had me I rolled, and she hit the ground hard even though we were already on the ground, so it wasn’t a far fall for her. Lola and Baily stood watching with Lola smiling and Bailey looking at me as though he was a proud father or something. “Can you now explain what the hell is happening with you and your tude? I have no idea what is happening right now unless you are menstruating because if you’re not you are seriously bipolar or something” I bitched getting on my feet and trying to calm my racing heart.
All I could see at the moment was my own heart beat in my vision as I stood above her for a moment with my hands on my hips before giving her a hand to see what her issue really was. “DAMN IT…. look it’s nothing I just get really irritated with things that have nothing to do with you and everything to do with people at my office which it’s not exactly an issue since most of the time I am bouncing all around. Right now, I’m with this office because of this case but usually I work in other bureaus and work on their difficult cases. Anyways just help me up off the ground already because you tackled me to the ground for what reason? Your precious fucking boots that I can either clean up when we get back to the house or buy you new ones!” she sighed waiting for me to help her up. I left her there for a beat longer as she finally continued to calm herself down. I was trying to figure her out without words spoken even if it took months or however long I’d be sharing a residence with her. My heart, mind, body and soul were busy trying to tell me to just leave it be and let it happen naturally as it had been from the very beginning.
