My grandfather held me close as he reminisces about his time in the military that had made him a stronger, thankful man and. I knew my grandfather had started off in the military and it helped him create a good stable foundation for his life and set him on the path that he wanted not what his parents wanted for him. "I love both medicine and law but am thinking I might need to just put things on hold until after this case is done not that I’m failing any classes actually am at the top of my classes even though I'm here. I've been turning things in before the deadline leaving the professors impressed considering I've been Skyping in from here but still participating in every class and I couldn't be prouder of myself. However, I’m not sure how much more I can take right now with the New Year approaching and yes right now I'm on break but still continue to do the work that was assigned for after the break so that incase I'm not able to do any skyping in I wanted to be ahead of the game" I can’t help but talk about my thoughts and plans minus telling them the one little thing that had taken place just before they had got there.
By 7am everyone was ready to get going and get back to the West Coast, "Well it was nice of you to all stop by before you left. I promise not to get myself into any more trouble...... I'll do my best at least since we all know I am horrible at keeping promises lately. You all have a safe flight home and tell Donnie I said hi even though I'm sure he'd rather hear it from me. I can already hear his lecturing now and I really can't suffer through another one at this moment" we all let out a little laugh as I walked them out. We all hugged one another, and I stood watching them drive away with Leona and Lola standing next to me as though I needed protection from whatever might be outside. I grabbed my house phone from its base when we walked back in and called Michelle, Maxwell’s mother hoping she'd answer since she was probably busy or even off with Maxwell and his new woman since they were after-all planning a wedding. I was surprised that she answered on the 2nd ring and was happy to hear my voice, "Hi, I just wanted to call and see how your holidays were and apologize for not sending a card or anything. I wanted to say I saw the cards you all had left for the girls and read that Max is getting married..." "Oh Mia yes he's so happy and he'd love to talk with you but actually he's off at his fiancé’s family’s house at this moment. They are pretty serious, and the wedding is only in a few days on New Year’s Day right at midnight actually" she was sounding like she was rushing around the house.
We had talked for a good 1/2 hour until she finally had to let me go with all the things, she still had going on that needed to get done before the end of the day. "No problem let Max and Brad know I said hi and of course congrats to the happy couple. I'll try and get something sent out to them, if you could send me an email letting me know where they are registered and I'll be happy to send them something from that" a few mins later she did just that when I had an email from her 5 mins later. I was genuinely happy for my children’s father as he had finally found someone who loved him the way he needed to be love and by the pictures posted up I could see the happiness. I also prayed to the heavens that he’d do right by her as she seemed to be very happy for now and as long as he stayed true to his promise of getting help I knew they would be happy for years to come. I had hoped I would one day be that happy and find that person who made that all happen for me. I knew as long as I could really put my past behind me, I was sure I would find the happiness I so desperately deserved.
At noon on the dot my Dr. Manhattanberg had been shown into the house with me running from the Guest house after looking at what would be changing. I was happy to see that he had come alone and that whatever was in his large bag was hidden from what it actually was. "H----I...... sorry I was just in the guest house checking on some things.... come follow me to the room down here on the left and go ahead and get set up in there. I'll be there in just a min" I was in full swing panic showing him the way. Lola and Leona had still been in the guest house where I told them to hang out until I came back. They were heading up the steps just as I reached the back door, "Hey.... it was just my doctor he's going to check me out and then we can continue to discuss options for the house! I really want this place remodeled like bad...." I was trying hard to even out my breathing and calm my racing heart. Lola's eyes went wide as though she thought she might know what was happening and helped keep Leona busy for me while I took care of business. "We'll keep thinking things to change and what our ideas would be even though I have no design skills whatsoever" she laughed when Leona sighed.
Leona just looked at me as though she wanted to be there in the room, "You sure you don't want me to come along...." "NO.... really I hate when my mother would do it so please just hang out with Lola please" I begged and headed down the hall. Dr. Manhattanber had completely made the room feel calm and relaxing even though we were about to find out if I would be a mother again. 10 mins later I had wiped up with the wipes the Dr had handed me before we got started as it had taken me that long to just get my pants off and put all my fear away for the time being. Once I was on the bed with a towel beneath my ass, he first felt my stomach and palpated it to make sure there was nothing else more serious going on and even checked my breasts giving me a full checkup which I appreciated. "Ok now you remember this thing here which is the only way to check inside for being so very newly pregnant if you are this is the way to see firsthand" he said holding up the wand that he was putting lube on. I shook my head and put my head back down and closed my eyes praying that the pregnancy tests were all a false positive as I had no idea what I would even tell my parents let alone Billy.
My whole body was in shock as Dr. Manhattanberg had confirmed that I was pregnant and from the size of the fetus I was about a month along. "Your IUD was actually umm bent which can happen when it's not a smooth area to begin with after such trauma like yours. I will need to run more tests so the blood should tell us a few things but also might not, as for your thoughts and decisions have you thought about keeping or not keeping is well…. you have time. I do not suggest waiting too long though if you are deciding to abort, which we do not really know the risk for you if you decide to keep the baby. We would have to take it month by month and if at any time there is a risk than we will talk again. Do you plan on telling the father or are you going to wait to until after you decide?" Dr. Manhattanberg had asked me. He had been so talkative giving me all my options and had now been waiting for me to react and even answer, I however just was not sure what to say. "It's complicated Doc.... right now I'm feeling so.... I...." I lost it and started sobbing a second later he took me in his arms holding me knowing how hard everything was on me since he was my OB with the girls and had been called after the ER doctor called him at my request when I had been beaten by Maxwell and pushed down the bleachers.
