Book 2: In the Life of Mia: College Chapter 61
Mr. Sheffield left the room in a hurry when he was in complete shock and I wasn’t sure why and as I searched through his things in his bag that was left open on the table I found a note that had been with the newest envelope. “YOU WILL NOT FIGURE IT OUT…. YOU HAVE FAILED PROFESSOR AND NOW IT’S ANOTHER FOR YOUR PILE… LEAVE THIS ONE FOR THOSE OF US WHO CAN STOMACH THE TRUTH AND DON’T WORRY MIA RIBBONOWSKI WILL BE THE ONE TO FIGURE IT OUT…” I was now freaking out a little as I closed my eyes and called out for my relatives to come and gather wanting to know what they knew about it. My grandfather’s and Ethan were the only ones to come. “Mia deep breath… you have no idea who might be watching… we know that there is a threat but we can only see so much… that’s why we’ve been so hard on you the last month… we didn’t know when it was coming, but knew it was close. Now we just need you to take a deep breath and with your photographic memory take snap shots of all of this and if you can use your phone and quickly snap photos before calling Bailey who is just outside the door there” Zeus was now firm about his actions, but with a calm and collective tone.
After doing what my grandfather told me to do, I called out for Bailey and he came calmly down but knew by the tone of my voice there was something happening. “Relax ok before you see all of this because I need you to realize that you and the team are keeping me safe and nothing is going to change….” I frowned and he moved me out of the way so he could see what was lying on the table including the note that had the message and my name in it. “WHAT THE…. THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING MA’AM AND YOU SHOULD NOT TAKE THIS LIGHTLY…” “So besides seeing my name it looks familiar right…. Some of these photos are old like 20 years maybe….?” I asked and he was not even listening any more just scanned the photos and called the one person he knew he could trust. “I need you to get here now… call the police department on your way because the case of Campbell just turned into something way more” Bailey was now back to his job treating me like I was some fragile child as he gathered up the photos and note after putting on his leather gloves he had in his pocket. “I need to find the professor… he stormed out of here looking like he was going to die himself and I have no idea where he even went….” “He had been heading towards that of the dean’s office which he should. This could have just sent him into shock” Bailey was now in urgency of getting to the bottom of this and cutting me off for about the 100th time since I called him down.
15 mins later there were men in dark suites along with the police chief who was not looking at all too happy to see me there in the middle of all of it again. “Well, Well Ms. Ribbonowski should I even ask what we are all doing here… I mean I am very aware that this is your class, but I am wondering why I was just pulled from a high classified meeting by the central intelligent with one of them already being in the meeting with me” Mr. Gomez anger was clear on his face with obvious irritation. Bailey refused to let me speak and got in between me and the Chief who was now stepping back as Bailey got real close into his face and told him I was to never step a foot inside the station again. “She’s not being put at risk… here read this while I hand this file to these men who are going to now have to take over now that it’s more than just one case and god knows how long it’s been happening, where it’s been happening…” he was in rear form as he held the note in Gomez’s face. I tried coming to the side of Bailey and get him to focus on me but he was in full protection mode as I was being surrounded by more people who seemed to be protecting me from all sides and even more people at the doors.
Class would be starting in only 45 mins and people were already crowding outside the door after being denied access into the class until things were taken into possession including Prof. Sheffield’s belongings. “OK…..HEY…. BAILEY CAN YOU PLEASE JUST CALM THE FUCK DOWN PLEASE AND TAKE A BREATH LOOK AT ME AND CONTROL YOURSELF… I UNDERSTAND YOU ARE ONLY DOING YOUR JOB BUT FOCUS FOR ONE MIN” I screamed out begging him. Bailey finally stopped talking at Chief Gomez and looked at me, but his eyes were that of a man who was in no mood to control his temper. “Shhhhh look at me, really look at me I’m fine right now…. I’m going to continue to be fine… now take it down a notch and either let the students go about their day or have someone contact the dean and see what we should do” I spoke in calm whispers that seemed to take Bailey by surprise. I could see Lola from the corner of my eye and whispering into her sleeve to Bailey who was listening to her and her commands at whatever they were since I could not hear a damned thing. “FINE….” He bitched and everyone around me cleared the space heading into all different directions. I knew by the way the group of other men and woman spread out like wildfire that they would be there now throughout the day or even longer.
By weeks end everyone was still up my ass with protection making it hard for me to even have a normal life, I had not been given access to the case that had now been turned over to the FBI or whoever had come and taken over. Leona was still sicker than a dog and had not been in direct contact with her boss, but messages back and for and her texting me making sure I was ok. I kept up with my training even though I was not to leave the house so did it in the basement even though I was starting to go stir crazy. Not to mention the fact that I would be leaving for my holiday vacation in just a few weeks was having everyone in panic mode. I made sure that my father was not notified about any of it and Bailey agreed not wanting anyone else involved. I had been doing my own investigating after taking snapshots with my new abilities able to remember the pictures so vividly that I was able to get them out by drawing them in my dream state. Then I also used the photos I had taken with my phone and hiding them deep in the phone’s memory so that to the naked eye and whoever might just check my phone would not see anything. “This is a good thing that this has happened in a way that I can now help when I was starting to lose hope on them or anyone finding her killer” I thought to myself knowing the other side could hear me.
My friends had been freaked out and pushing me for answers even though there was nothing for me to tell them since whatever I might have said could put them into harm’s way. “So, who’s staying around for the holidays and who’s heading home?” I asked since part of me thought it might be a good idea to stay there and not take home, shit that could put my family into danger. “Regardless if you stay or go dear whoever this sick person is has been watching and if he’s as smart or dumb as he is…” “There is no way that this person knows enough to know where you live in the US and your team is that of the best of the best and you know deep down that if it’s that dangerous you would have called home already to let them know you weren’t making it home” My grandmother Amelia and Artemis protested and they both were causing me to doubt my own ability. I had to close down for a min and just think about what had been taking place and decided that just in-case something kept me from going home I knew I had to call home and let my parents know. I dialed the home number with the phone Bailey gave me to make calls to them or anyone else back home that could end up in danger if I called from my personal phones I had on me. “Hi mommy…. I’m sorry to bother you when I know you are on bed rest and miserable now even more.. I just wanted to ummmm let you know that there is a possibility I won’t make it home for Thanksgiving…..” my mother was sobbing seconds later before I could even explain and my father was on the line next.
After an hour and a half on the phone with my parents my father finally calmed my mother and himself but now wanted to have a good reason for me possibly not coming home. “Well Leona is deathly sick, my other friends who are renting my house are not able to go home for the holidays.. I wanted to make sure that they all get a good Thanksgiving like I’ve always had growing up” I hoped it would work and they would leave it at that. My father sighed heavily and I knew he understood “Very nice of you… as you know we have plenty of room here and the way it is looking your mother is going to be having this baby any day now…so you might end up missing the birth…. In person anyways so if you do make sure you are by your phone so we can video call you in on it” I could tell by the tone of his voice he was not happy, but was also very proud of me. I cringed at the thought of being at the forefront of my mothers who-ha and watching a living being coming out. “UMMM well sounds like a plan…. Just make sure I’m at a view that I don’t need to have serious psycho-therapy after ok” I gave a little laugh. The 3 of us hung up a few mins later with my parents being calmer and understanding if I didn’t make it home for the first round of the holiday season.
