Book 2: In the Life of Mia: College Chapter 91
Lola had left me be while I put the bike away and headed towards the front door with the new guy who I still couldn't remember his name since it was nothing common and he had a strong foreign accent. I took my time putting the bike away giving Leona time to come out to me since I did not want to cause a scene in front of whatever guests where still there. To my surprise it did not take long for her to come to me out in the unattached garage where all my toys were and my car that my father had decided to keep so he could drive if he wanted. "Well wow, you couldn't even call when you decided to come home after a month being with that Psychopath...." I couldn't help but laugh cutting her off and when I turned I saw the pure rage in her eyes and was waiting for a full on physical fight which was what I was planning if she came at me. "I don't think this is very funny and what the hell do you call that with all your security people cleaning out your things from my house, not that it's much but you didn't even give me a heads up..." she was seething with so much energy.
While she was busy caught up in all her emotions I figured it was my turn to speak "Well psychopath or not that young man needs my help and I'm not going to justify my reasons for staying with him and keeping him safe. Along with all of the people who are important to me.. to be honest I wish you would have just stayed your ass on the other side of the pond since I really have nothing left to say to you. I don't care that we share some fucking damn blood line of some sort, but to be honest with you I can't trust you and I'm not about to let you come anywhere close to me so you can get that through your head right now if you planned on hugging me or doing anything else. That backhand you gave me was enough to end whatever this might have been and showed me enough to know that if you even want to be friends someday you're going to have to learn what a friendship is all about. After all we both know you’ve been talking shit about me all over town and that isn't what I'd say a real friend would do. I really don't want your explanations of why you did it anger or whatever.... so if you'll just take your sorry ass back home now that would be great" I kept my calmness the best I could as I side stepped around her.
Leona didn't let me get far when she gripped me hard around my bicep and turned me around so fast I almost fell right into her arms which I figured she was trying to cause but my instincts had grown. "DON'T FUCKING TOUCH ME....." I yelled out at the top of my lungs and she backed right up. "Jesus Christ ok..... sorry, I just want you to hear me out since...." "Since what Leona, lost your fucking mind... couldn't see past all that anger inside to just think for one min that this young man deserves to be helped... remember I'm the one who left on my own and went to this man... and in the last almost 2 months I've been able to get him to trust me and that's a good start for a young man who is very much still a 10-year-old boy who is scared out of his mind" I was now in a rage myself cutting her off. Leona looked up as my father was approaching quickly as he called out my name "Mia, what the hell is happening out here? I'm wondering to myself why you thought it was ok to just leave this house and disabling your GPS on your bike along with putting a scrambler on the SUV that your team is in...." "Father, I have every right to have a private life just like you and everyone else... I know it's only been 12 hours since Bailey and Ralph brought me back home and I'm not going to be treated like a prisoner here when I can easily just go back home and see you all tomorrow morning" I turned quickly facing him cutting him off and walking right passed so I could get in and get washed up for lunch.
Leona and my father were behind me walking at a normal pace as I was since there wasn't much else left to say and I knew they both didn't want me running off again. I hated that there were still so many people inside and I knew it would probably only grow over the next couple of hours. I smiled the best I could as I walked through the front door and children were playing and adults were laughing and talking up a storm. My mother heard the door and immediately came out into the foyer smiling until she really took a good look at me. “Oh…..well ummm I will not even ask or hound you at the moment. Go on up and get washed up for lunch please, and we’ll see you back down here shortly. Please be mindful that you have guests and they would actually like to see you today and not be ignored” she was back to being her uptight and bossy self as she always felt the need to put on a show for everyone. “As you wish mother, but lets not forget……ahhh never mind it’s Christmas and I really don’t have the energy to keep doing this with you and everyone else!” I sighed and headed to the open elevator. I knew that I would have to come back down this time since I had ignored everyone from the night before, so I put on a smile and headed up the elevator.
After washing up for lunch I found my mother and Sharene both feeding their children in the small intimate living room. "See I told you I'd make it back down before lunch even got out on the table. I'm staying until after lunch and then I need to head back to my house for a bit and see what's happening since I plan on remodeling the whole damned thing and getting it ready before I head back to Oxford. I am even thinking about putting it up for either rent or for sale I haven't really decided yet, but anyways that's another discussion for another day. I'll see you both at lunch" I smiled leaving them to their business. Catherine and the guys where in the large dinning, room with the rest of my family and Sharene's which I had figured since it was the holidays and my friends found my parents to be more like their parents than their own. "Well hello all, I hope you've all had a good start to your Christmas holiday.... food smells great chef" I smiled a real smile for the first time after my craziness with Leona, even though I was still a little irritated. Mrs. Wilsonmer had handed me a bottle of water and a couple of pills which I smiled and thanked her for "Ha getting to know me very well Ma'am. I'll need a refill on it all and if you could also give me some good recommendations for some people in England who might be of service for me when I get back there" I whispered not wanting people to overhear and get all up in my business.
As everyone watched me like a hawk I didn't bother to sit since there were only 4 spots open and I left them for my parents, Sharene and Leona who were off feeding and doing whatever else. Even though I had told her I wanted her to leave my father had other ideas and it was his house. I took the plate offered to me by the chef that was a full of salad with all the trimmings. "Fresh lobster, mixed greens, chickpeas, feta cheese, and fresh light vinaigrette that is something that goes great with all the things in the salad" he smiled giving me a wink to go along with it. I stood looking down at the salad before turning around to face everyone who was still watching me and waiting to see where I would be going. I knew better than to try and leave the room since my mother had already warned me and I smiled as I turned around “Smells great does it not? I can’t wait to dig in” I smiled and finally lifted my head to look at everyone.
The salad was spectacular but was just the starter and it had made me full even though I had only eaten a little over half of it and after taking it to the kitchen to put into a container for later. "Ma'am did you not enjoy the salad? I can serve you something else or give you the next course" Chef Mc'Michael asked. "No sir, I'm just not a big eater you know that. As for the salad it was amazing, and I'll eat more in a few mins I just need to let the salad process a bit more... so what's next up anyways?" I asked peeking over the island as he was quickly chopping up what looked to be meat of some sort. "It's Elk meat that has been aged and marinated with only the best herbs and spices. It's so soft and tender that's why I had to crisp the edges just to cut it and slice it thin like this" he had enjoyed explaining the process more and I really enjoyed it. "Have you ever eaten bear before? only because I cooked it for the first time around Thanksgiving and to be honest it was really lean and thought for sure it'd be really nasty" I laughed when he smiled and I knew he must have liked it too. "Oh, darlin' if you liked it than that means you must have made it really good because that's a hard meat to prepare and cook that well and get the wildness taste out. It's considered a delicacy and actually polar bear is good too which it might be hard to picture, I’m sure your bear was too. I have cooked all over the world and things you would not ever want to know I'm sure but you being into this food thing is a good thing, always something to do when you are stressed since I find it very relaxing" he smiled as he continued to get our next course ready. I was happy to talk with him since he was not asking personal questions and had me at ease which did not usually last all too long.
