Book 2: In the Life of Mia: College Chapter 53
When it came to school I had more confidence than I did when it came to shit that had to do with this new found life I had unlocked after being told when I was little that I was not seeing my dead brother or even talking to him and that it was just an imaginary friend that would one day go away. Which was what happened since most children and even animals are able to see and hear their loved ones who have passed or just random spirits that haven't been able to move on yet. Once on my feet I felt 10x lighter and finally got a good healthy breath in that made it all the way from head to toe making me feel like a new woman all the way around. I was happy with a smile on my face as I exited the room and found Leona just wrapping up into a robe and stayed at a distances just watching her and seeing how different she was when she was alone and naked as though she had nothing to worry about or anything weighing down on her shoulders. I wondered for a min how long it took her to feel that again after whatever it was that had happened to her and even though I wanted to ask about her background I left it be knowing how much it hurt to even try to let someone really in. I cleared my throat before coming all the way around the corner. "I wanted to make sure you were descent before I just invaded your privacy..." I peeked first before coming around the corner with the towel covering my eyes just enough to see where I was going.
Leona let out a playful laugh "I've got the same parts you do so not a big deal if I were naked and you walked in... I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious about all that you had going on under those clothes since all I have seen is muscles through the material and of course what's showing already" she smiled and looked me over as she did so many times before. I laughed a nervous laugh and for a min considered just ripping off my clothes and showing her what I had under it all. The grownup part of me just felt like it all still belonged to someone who wasn't even there anymore. "Well like you said it's the same as you have, and to be honest your back side looks a lot better than mine" I admitted that I saw just enough before she got into the sauna. She must have felt like it was now a challenge I had put in place since I had not graced her with what I held under my clothes and left it up to her imagination. "Wow well I guess another time then since lunch is about to be served and I'm starved" she gave a giggled before slowly moving. I nodded leaving the room with her behind me and knew she was scanning my body again all the way to the next floor which we took the stairs up 3 flights instead of taking the elevator.
Leona must have thought I'd be going with to lunch "Where you off to, lunch is like only 5 mins away right now" she informed me as I walked towards my wing of the house. "Umm well I didn't think that lunch included me since I have my wing and you have yours with our own separate chefs and...." "True but I informed yours that we'd be eating together on my end and leaving a short time after that..." she loved cutting me off and waited for me to follow. "I really hate eating or even sitting when I've just worked out and am full of sweat... so give me 10 mins and I'll find you when I'm done. I will shower and come right out since all of this.... here takes more than just 10-15 even 30 mins to get ready for a going out type of day" I smiled walking backwards towards my wing.
10 mins later exactly I found Leona at the island counter with her robe on and had yet to shower and the food had smelled amazing. "Wow ok well I should have told you my diet restrictions not that this is not healthy, but breakfast and lunch are probably my least food consumption times and not sure if I can eat all this but will try" I took a look around the area before sitting down praying that we were somewhat alone. The chef took out our hot food from the warming oven and placed it in front of us. "Steamed rice below the 3oz salmon fillet fresh, a side salad mixed with everything from the garden and organic with homemade dressing. Under here is a little jello with fruit mixed in for flavor and just a little fun" she smiled as she told us the full lunch that she placed down. I started off slow finding it all very good and just the right portion for someone who doesn't eat a lot anyways. "That was unexpected since I am not a big eater as it is but that was perfect for me. Thank you for including me in all this today and not to worry I don't expect it to be an everyday thing or anything and if you are up for it I'll treat you for dinner with my chef and have him whip up something really good that you have yet to have from the times you've eaten with me and the family" I smile looking over at her and wiping my mouth. I thanked her chef Iris Bolingerberg "I really enjoyed it and thank you so much for including me since I know it's tough just making sure one person is taken care of." I knew all too well what it was like to look after myself even when I had a nanny or housekeeper, chefs cooking for me when my mother gave them no other choices. I cleaned my area even though I was stopped mid-air and the things were taken from me and was scolded for even considering it which was not their fault for it since I was the one who was not big on everyone doing every little thing for me.
Before finally leaving the kitchen I apologized not only to Iris but to Leona who was watching me carefully "Well again I'm sorry, I am going to go and start getting ready when you are done and ready to go just call me or let one of my security people know" I eyed her as I headed out of the room. Once inside my room and going through my closet deciding on what I was going to wear which didn't take as long as I thought it might since I decided it was not going to be a special occasion and she had said something about a hiking place. I packed a light bag of items just in-case she had ideas of hiking or anything else that might entail me needing sneakers and not my boots that I used when riding my bike which I planned on doing before it got too cold to do so or raining cats and dogs. I dressed in my tight jeans and bikers boots along with a tight tank top and leather bike jacket just to keep me warm in-case it got chilly later. I had noticed that my cell phone was lighting up from my dresser top and went to it not sure why I felt so eager to read who ever might be texting or even calling since I had calls forwarded after 2 rings. I had a few missed calls and a few texts messages and the calls being both from an unknown number and thought for sure it was going to be Sharene and the texts where from my parents just resending their previous messages.
Looking around the room I found the house phone and picked it up to dial my parents knowing at least it was morning there and would not be waking anyone from sleep. My mother graced me with her voice and then my father who picked up the other line. “I hope you are calling about good things and not….” I stopped my father before he could get crazy. "Yes, I'm fine, thank you for just giving me a few days and not getting all crazy about it even though I'm sure you let my team have it. I got your messages and wanted to let you know that the plan is still the same that I'll be coming home for Thanksgiving for now not sure about Christmas since they are like back to back and not sure I want to be traveling when the storms between here and there get really nuts around that time of the year. So yes, I'll be there with bells on ok and I would not miss the birth of my little brother..." I was cut off when my parents informed me they had decided to do a home birthing and Bailey walking into the room with his cell phone to his ear and talking softly to whoever it was on the other line. "Sorry to bother you Mia, but you have a couple gentleman on the other line who are calling and only have a few mins before they have to go" just by the look on his face I knew who it was. I knew then who the unknown calls where from and even though I had missed my boys I was sad that it wasn't the one person I wanted to hear from the most. "Ok well mom, dad let me call you back before I head out for the day. Jose and Nick are on the other line I am guessing since they are the only two men that call at the same time" I was now back to smiling and feeling happy.
Jose and Nick were out of their minds with how I had been acting towards everyone including Catherine and bitching that the text message I had sent the night before was uncalled for. "Whoa okay one second guys.... you are always coming to her fucking rescue and she's not a child she is just as old as the 3 of us.... I'm tired of this blame game shit... I didn't ask for her to fall in love with me... unavailable from the very start... that's probably why she kept it to herself for so damned long. As for you getting mad about the Sharene thing you need to get your fucking facts straight and this playing the telephone game isn't working for me anymore since you two nor Cate know what exactly fucking happened. So how about you go back and tell her what I just told you and I'm sure you'll add some extra shit in there... so like I told her and everyone else this is our time to find out who we are and grow the fuck up and if that means we grow apart well god damn it it's fucking life and shit happens" I could not believe how I had went from happy to hear from them to being so pissed off and hung up handing Bailey back his phone. He did not say a word since he knew what I was saying was not wrong, but I could tell he had things he wanted to say. "I'll be another few mins now, so I'll let you know when I am ready to go" I was now looking at his back as he walked out.
