Chapter 36

Chef Browningson was busy at work as I peeked around the corner and watched him as he worked in silence just wanting to see him without him worried what I might think. The aroma coming from the dishes were fantastic hitting on my senores and taste buds at once, causing my mouth to water once more.
Just as I was about to emerge into the kitchen fully, I heard footsteps coming down the stairs behind me and then a sharp intake of breath. I turned around quickly and was happy but also confused as Sharene had turned away and was trying to head back up the steps. “Please…. wait! I’m sorry about the kiss… umm well no I’m not but now you are acting all weird which I guess is my fault” I sighed as I had gone after her hoping to grab her before she could get out of reach. Sharene stopped on the bottom step as I got closer not wanting to play cat and mouse and hoped she would not want to, either. By her stopping I felt a little pride in the whole thing. “Now why do you keep avoiding me was it because I read the signals wrong even though you kissed me back, please just be honest with me. I am way to mature to play games so if you tell me to back off than I will, but if I wasn’t reading this wrong, I want to know!” I pleaded which I almost never did.
Sharene turned around on the bottom step and faced me so that we were now eye to eye with a look I could only guess since I had only just met her. “I—I don’t know what you want me to say? Yes, the kiss was mutual and much different feeling than I’d ever felt with another woman…ha not that I’ve kissed many girls or done much more with another female. I just… look can we do this later I’m working and really need to get back to it. Maybe if I have a little time later, we can talk more if that’s alright with you?” she asked as she went to turn and head back up. I continued to follower her up and was happy she stopped again, and I took over spinning her around and kissing her again. The kiss was electric and full of heat and passion that it took my breath away and got me a little dizzy for a moment. I pulled back and slowly stepped backwards down the steps letting her go back to work. “I look forward to later” I winked up at her before disappearing behind the corner and into the kitchen.
20 mins later I was back up on deck with a tray of drinks with the other stewardess Haley behind me with another tray of drinks and shots to go around. The chef was about done with dinner and was quite happy about it as he added things that he did not think about. That was until I helped him out with a few ingredients that made the dish even better. The guests and my parents were getting more relaxed for the evening and settled way down from earlier. It made my anxiety level come down too and prayed the rest of the evening would go without incident. Haley and I passed around drinks and shots at the tables and made them wait to take the shot but let them sample a sip of the new drink I had concocted. Once again, my parents and our friends loved the flavors of the drink, but I hoped they really loved the shots. They were the bomb since I would have been throwing them back with Haley and the chef until they were perfect. “Ok now these shots are awesome, but also very strong so if you’re a light weight you might not want the shot. In which case I’ll take them off your hands” I announced loudly with everyone laughing a second later. “I think you’ve had enough darlin’ you seem to have been in the liquor before even coming up!” Greta yelled out as she sat with my parents at the table.
What Greta did not know what that I could handle a lot of liquor but kept that one to myself. I loved every time my eyes locked with Sharene and giving her a smile and hoping we would have some time later together. Dinner was ready just as the sun started to set and was the perfect time with the Capt. moving the Yacht back towards home. My parents sat together at one end with my friends and I at the other laughing and having a good time as the food was being served to us. Sharene had taken care of my parents end while Haley took my end of the table leaving the middle section for stewardess Maxine. Sharene chose the best side since it gave me the perfect spot to look at her every chance I got. Instead of having to look up at her or make it more noticeable if she would have been at our, end.
Sharene took her advantage of looking at me too and some looks were so heated that it made me want to follow after her a few time. However, I didn’t want to be questioned in where I was going. “This day has been one long amazing day and thank you father for doing this and giving mother such a great day. I cannot wait for more days and nights like this especially traveling in this baby. I hope you’ll be sticking around here to do it with us before having to head back for work. I also have to say another thing this is one amazing crew considering we’ve been on lots of yachts we’ve rented to sail Europe and this by far has been one of the best group of people” I nodded with a smile making sure that Sharene and Haley had heard me. Catherine gripped my thigh under the table, and I knew that was the sign of jealousy which got me a little irritated. Especially since she and Asher had been hanging out and snuggling all day, but I did not let it get to me. We were too young to be so possessive over one another and wanted to make sure to let her know that.
I let Catherine have her moment but flexed the muscle up in my thigh and gave her a quick glance of unpleasantness. She backed right off a second later excusing herself from the table all together. Asher saw the look I gave her and followed her even though he had no clue what had just happened. Nor did he know what was going on under the table, not minutes before the look I gave her. Jose and Nicholas gave me a look like “What the hell was that” and I shrugged before turning back to my parents and raising a glass to them both. “I love you both so very much and again today has been one awesome day!” I saluted before downing my champagne. My parents looked at me with love in their eyes and thanked me and gave me a look as they looked towards the direction Asher and Catherine had just gone. I shook my head not wanting them to start asking questions that really did not concern them.
