Chapter 54
A second later I was sleeping in as my mothers’ arms and her steady heartbeat echoed in my ear calming me back down. As though it was a not such distance memory and Ethan right there with me feeling the same way. “Hey sleepy head how about you try to just eat a little something for us please…” my mother said as she patted my back as though I were a baby. My mother had soothed me so much that I had lost time and the next time I opened my eyes I saw that my room now had Catherine, Sharene, Haley, Nicholas, Jose, and Sebastian who were like stone next to the door and my mother who was still holding me. “Oh, umm sorry did I fall asleep again?” I asked as I wiped my face feeling my cheek wet and found that it was drool. I gave a little soft giggle as I sat up and glanced first at the clock that showed it was now 11:15 pm and my food was now cold. “Well, I guess I could nibble a little something or at least try, please everyone either sit in a chair, floor or on the bed” I asked of them feeling like I was an animal in a cage and being watched.
Catherine took the offer as she sat on the other side of me and curled up looking worried like I had never seen her before especially about me. Then Haley who sat on the bench near the bay window and Sharene who took a seat near the balcony door and watched me closely as though I were going to die or something. “Ok well are you at least comfortable where you are because I promise I’m fine and not sick so get closer if you’d like or stay where you are either way is fine with me” I shrugged leaving the invite open. I picked at my food that actually wasn’t that cold since it had been under a warming lid, and it usually lasted a while.
My mother stayed a little longer to make sure I was ok and cupped my face and kissed it before leaving the bed. “Call me at the house if you need me for anything even if it’s just to cuddle again and I’ll be right over” she whispered with a little hope behind it. I winked and watched her walk out the door and stopping to say something to Sebastian before closing the door behind her. I was not in the mood to ask him about what she had said and went back to my food that was a little of this and a little of that. I let Nicholas and Jose finish what was left since they just kept watching me almost the entire time and looking to be hungry. “So, did you two tell my parents the good news? I’m sure they totally freaked out and were down to do it” I asked wanting to know the details. Jose groaned with Nicholas laughing as they finished eating up my, leftovers. “Look babe that is something we want to do with you there as a family thing if you get my drift” Jose confessed as he swallowed his last bite.
The thought was nice for them to wait, but knew they wanted to tell them soon since they’d be leaving in 3 weeks and would need to do the ceremony before then. “Oh sorry that’s my fault I suppose since I know you two wanted to tell them, but next time don’t wait.. Anyways I can call them now and have them both come over, or we can go there and yes that’s what we are doing give me my crutches. Plus, I would love some homemade ice cream” I said as I moved the tray towards the end of the bed. Sebastian was at the beside in seconds taking the tray and running it downstairs and right back up just as I was getting to the edge of the bed. I grabbed the phone off my nightstand and dialed the house with my mother answering on the 2nd ring. “Everything alright honey, need me to come over?” she asked sounding happy. “No, No actually we are all heading over there and we need you and father in the living room so we can discuss a few important things that have come up” I said before hanging up on her.
I did my best to stand and get adjusted on the crutches that I had not had to use in years since I sprained my knee. I tried one last time but finally threw them to the ground and was ready to give up and thanking God that everyone else had gone downstairs. Expect Sebastian who was watching me. “Come here angel let me just carry you please, I can see the frustration on your face… but the problem is not the crutches but the person trying to go faster than what the crutches can do” he found it all amusing. I finally gave in and raised my hands and he smiled before picking me up and holding me close to his body and snuggling close to my neck. I pulled back a little wanting him to realize that we had to watch what was happening. Before it got to a point that neither one of us could come back from. “Hey… I want this relationship to work… umm let me explain I loved the last 24 hours and getting to know you on a whole other level. Not that I get to know everyone on that kind of level, but I just want us to be close and trust one another. I want you to be around for a long time and I’m wondering now if what happened the last 24 hours might not have been such a good idea. I am not regretting it but I’m a little nervous about how we overcome this part now” I whispered and snuggle up against his chest for a few seconds.
Sebastian had not responded to what I had just said as he carried me down the stairs and did not bother to stop to wait for everyone else but right out the front door. Sebastian carried me through the opened back door and to where I wanted before dropping me in the recliner and then leaving a second later without another word. My father did not see anything weird about it, but also did not know anything about what had happened between Sebastian and I and hoped it would stay that way. Once everyone was in the living room, I gave the boys the floor front and center. “Alright boys this is your time to shine now that I’ve gotten out of bed and made Sebastian carry me here” I put them right on the spot with a giant smile. Jose and Nicholas took the floor as my parents, sat near me with the girls and Asher on the other side of me. Jose started with Nicholas finishing exactly what they had told me earlier that day and just as I had thought would happen, my mother jumped up and hugged them both tight.
