Book 2: In the Life of Mia: College Chapter 26
Sharene was getting to know JJ and Lenny as she sat on the floor with them and Madeline was in her swing nodding off already. "Mind if I take JJ out of this contraption...and what does Lenny like?" She asked. Candice smiled giving Sharene the go ahead as she took her bags off her shoulder and placed Lenny's toys out for him to play with. I stood near the archway propped up against the side of it watching the natural born mothers in them both. "Anyways... Sharene I asked Candice to come by now that all the wiring and security in the house are up to date. She is my interior designer and since you live here more than I do right now I want you to feel like it's yours too since it is now. We both have pretty much the same taste so go crazy in every room minus Ethan's for now. I am still working on ideas for it and still is a tough one for me. Other than that, do whatever you want and don't worry I won't get in your way on any of it..." I was interrupted by my cell phone ringing. I stepped back and away to get it, but it went to voicemail which was just Paul letting me know he was on his way but had to make a couple of stops in between. Sharene and Candice were in full swings of talking about what she wanted to change, and they started dreaming up ideas on the room they were currently in. "Alright well I'll leave you ladies to it, call if you need anything I just need to do a few things around the house and when you are ready to talk about my office down here and the basement call me" I winked and smiled before walking out of the room.
By 10:45 Paul was at the door with all his equipment and could not believe how much I had seemed to change in only a few months since he had seen me. "Damn.... I didn't think it would be possible for you to get any prettier, and there is just something about you.... can't put my finger on it but it's there and it's powerful" he shrugged looking into my eyes before wrapping his arms around me and hugging me. "Dude, Paul I have been gone like 2 months not 2 years... as for the change in me well yes a lot going on and I guess changing me every day. Growing up is not the greatest feeling in the world, but know that I have people in my life to keep me grounded helps and not bad to look at either" I laughed so deeply it rumbled my whole body and just as Sharene and Candice had been coming down the stairs. Paul turned and watched along with me as the two were in deep discussion about things "Damn, ummm which one is for me..." he joked bumping my side with his. I laughed "Neither since they are both spoken for and very married with babies in the other room...if you are looking though I'll have to introduce to a few friends if they come home with me for thanksgiving" I whispered softly.
Sharene was all smiles along with Candice who both came towards us with Sharene wrapping her arms tighter around my neck and kissing my it with a quick nip of her teeth before pulling away. "Sharene has some amazing idea's for the place and although I love Amelia's taste it's not at all yours’ or even Sharene's taste and you both deserve to be happy in a home you plan on sharing for however long. I loved the upgrades in power and security but have to ask about the guest house since we didn't even go back there" Candice smiled and was very curious and hopeful I was sure. "Well first things first Paul meet Candice my interior designer, and Sharene.... ladies this is Paul my tattoo artist and friend" I introduced the 3 of them before we got onto the guest house. Sharene sighed when I had not said more behind her name when introducing her to Paul. "Nice to meet you Paul,.." "Yes, very nice to meet you and wow didn't even know you had or were thinking about tattoos Mia... anyways how about that guest house back there?" Candice was on a time limited I knew as she checked her watch. "Candice if you have to get going we can talk about the guest house when I get back from school around Thanksgiving, but it's easy just go with whatever Sharene wants to do since she'll be here more than me and if her parents stay or in laws stay at least they have a private place. Also, I'll need it finished by my holiday break since I'm possibly bringing friends back with me. As for tattoos I've got a couple which this one is his work here on my side and the other is umm a little under the clothing that is private..." I show her and her eyes grew larger as she looked down. "Yep both my works of art... she's amazing herself since she drew up them both and I added a little of my own flare" Paul was all about touching his as I lifted my shirt and showed her the girls prints on my side.
Sharene had yet to ask why I had a tattoo down there which made our relationship so much easier since the scars below the tattoo were something I had thought enough about when I looked in the mirror. Candice came closer and leaned down and went completely still as she ran her fingertips over the footprints which made my skin grow goosebumps. "Wow, ummm sorry that was probably very inappropriate… nice work though for real Paul. Ladies I'll draw up some sketches and drop them on by hopefully by the end of the week if not next. Mia if you could help me to the car and have an extra second to talk with me..?" Candice asked. I put my shirt right again and smiled not having a problem with helping her to the car but was curious on what there was left to say. I took all of her bags while she grabbed JJ and I took Lenny's hand which he took with a smile. "Alright well Lenny I hoped you had fun today even though you were in here playing with your toys. Also, I bet you are hungry, and mommy should take you 2 out to eat since JJ is to, little to eat food" I laughed when he shook his head “Yes”. I dropped the bags into the opened back trunk of the Lexus SUV and then helped get Lenny buckled into his car-seat next to his brother. "Ok now Lenny be good for mommy, you too JJ see you 2 sometime in the winter when I get back from school" I whispered and blew them both kisses.
Candice watched me looking at me differently than she ever had before, and I was sure it had something to do with me all of a sudden liking children again which wasn't the wrong assumption. "Wow, never thought I'd see the day, since when I had Lenny you freaked a little and then now today you've been great with these two and watching them and Madeline all at the same time" Candice eyes got a little teary eyed as she hugged me tight. I had a feeling she knew all about my situation by now thanks to my mother or even Maxwell's mother since they were also Candice's clients and had remodeled my mother's house 2 times and Michelle's house 4 times in 4 years. "Hey, no big deal trust, me it helps that Maddie is around and I don't really have a choice when it comes to her, but she makes things better. Now what did you want to talk about because ever since you saw the tattoo you, kind of I don't know got quiet on me. I am sure you know about the girls obviously since my mother was really hurt and loves to vent, and then there is Michelle who can't ever keep shit to herself whether you tell her too or not. Plus, your face says it all which the sympathy is not needed, but I know it's a natural thing so..." "I just I feel for you and yes sympathy since you I wouldn't be human if I didn't show any. Yes, Michelle told me actually she tells everyone she meets whether it's on the street or wherever... I have a lot of clients who know your family and his and well it's out there, honey and...." I had to cut Candice off not wanting to hear anymore. "Look, I'm fine but this conversation isn't going to help me and it's only going to irritate me and that's not what I want. You at least know now that it's real and that I'm doing my best to move on whether I fully ever do is up to me and to be honest the more I forgive the easier it becomes. That's one reason I got these tattoos and am about to add more to them today before I head back to school tomorrow morning/afternoon" I put a smile on my face and straightened up letting her know I was done talking about it.
