Book 2: In the Life of Mia: College Chapter 44
The run was not everything I needed and when I had stopped by closest gym to my house it was smelly and dirty and just not what I had in mind even though I stayed and worked out another 45 mins. I didn’t bother to shower there since I had nothing to use and the showers were worse than a pools common area showers’. I had run back to the house from the gym even though Lola was in the truck waiting as though I might just give in and take the ride but the electricity running through me was almost too much to handle. I ran through the door almost taking Leona out as she was trying to sneak out of the house and 6:45 am before anyone got up and jumped back with her gun in her hand. “JESUS…..” I yelped out which caused my father to come running with Sharene behind him finding me at the front opened door and Leona with her gun still in mid-air but slowly lowering it. “Calm down…. I’m fine, everyone is fine, and I am just coming in from working out along with Leona trying to sneak out without waking anyone. Dad go back to bed, Shar baby you too while I walk Leona to her car” I begged with a little irritation to my voice. I waited until Leona put her gun away before I grabbed her arm and walked her out the door as the scene ran through my head thinking of what might have happened if she pulled the trigger.
Leona did her best to apologize and all I could think about was all the guns around me to protect me in some way and yet I had no idea how to shoot one to protect myself just in case I ever needed to do so. “I will see you later so go home get showered and I’ll be there in a couple of hours unless you have something else to do… I need you to teach me how to shoot and how to get certified and able to carry just in case. I am sorry for reacting so ummm forceful. but my heart is still racing from a workout that did not do shit for me and a gun that was at my face…” I whispered close to her ear as she got down into her little personal sports car. She gripped my shirt in her hand as she got down into her car. “I’ve got work to do but can do it from home… so I’ll see you in a couple of hours, I assume you want your mother to see our secret area and I still have to make sure that you have your own code to get into the main door and then of course you have to do a few things. I will explain later be sure to come alone since I’m sure your father would not want you going down this road since… ha I’ve been warned already. Feel free to let Bailey and Lola tag along though because I know they are to protect you and that’s what you need” she was letting off a lot of tense emotions which had me reaching for the door frame before closing her door.
Leona drove away like a bat out of hell and I slipped back into the house hoping that everyone had went back to bed but was not ever lucky enough for that to happen since my mother was now up and waddling about the kitchen as the chef started up the coffee and whipping up a batch of homemade scones. “I’m sorry that you are all up so early, mother are you alright I hate you waddling all over looking like you are about to drop my brother right out” I gave a chuckled to lighten the mood but no one was laughing. “What exactly was happening as you were coming in and Leona had you at fucking gun point… you obviously scared her and I hope to GODs you didn’t go out alone again” my mother was nervous since she had been there, but finally sat down. “Your mother was up already but I told her to stay in the room while I checked it out, it was bad enough she was up around 3am after just falling asleep at midnight or so” my father was now scolding me as though it was my fault she was having issues with sleeping. Sharene just stood back watching as my parents ripped me a new asshole and I could hear her exploding thoughts. “FOR FUCK SAKE JUST GET IT OUT ALREADY…. I CAN’T DEAL WITH THE FUCKING SOUNDS AND….” I snapped and when I did my mother gripped my wrist firmly pulling me back.
Sharene went wide eyed looking at me as though I had burned her and it was the first time I doubted us lasting and her being able to even understand what was happening and I was hurting worse than ever. “Shar…I—I’m sorry…” I finally flexed my hand and my mother let me go as I stood and finally picked my head up to look at her. She looked as though she was scared of me again, but this time in a different scared for her and her daughters’ safety. I did not bother to take another step instead yelled for Bailey and Lola “Get the truck ready we are going out” they had approached and looking to be eating. My father came closer and I put up my hand to stop him looking him in the eye and then at my mother showing them just how shaken I really was and they knew I was running again. My father put his hands up and backed up which did not help the look on Sharene’s face who stared at me and then came the tears and the look of what I wasn’t sure. “I think it’s time you all go home now, I’ll be gone most of the day so please be gone when I return” I kept my distance taking a quick glance at them all. Lola cleared her throat telling me without words that they were ready to go and I did not say another word just headed out the front door and into the back of the truck. I had cried the whole way to Leona’s place and when Bailey opened the back door there she stood behind him looking in at me as I lie there with my heart broken as I had scared the one person who made me feel whole most days.
Leona saw me into her place and promised she wouldn't tell my parents I was there in-case they called along with my team who made sure to turn off the signal that told them where we were. "I'm sorry I just need for them to go back home and leave me be for now... I snapped big time and I just can't deal with what they all expect from me right now. They are trying to stay until after the holiday and my place is just not big enough to hold them all for that period of a time without wanting to kill myself. Thanks again for this, I need to just shower and if you have some sweats and a shirt I can borrow that'd be great. I'll go home once I have the all clear from Paxton who is hopefully taking them to the airport as we speak" I finally took a breath even though I hated the way I had acted. I had turned off my phone including taking out the sim card so they could not track me. I knew better though and had a feeling they would find me here anyways. As though it were right on cue Bailey and Lola's phone's rang with my parents both calling on their cell phone's and wanting to talk to me before they left. "OK, let me check sir..." Bailey held the phone that had my father and Lola the one with my mother on it. I decided to hang up on my mother and take my father's call knowing he would be the calmest out of them all. "What can I do for you father?" I took the phone to a private area as I was more irritated. I did not get much more out as he scolded me for just walking out and snapping on them all and for what he did not know exactly. “Your behavior is not making me happy and I get you want this life for now and have your independence, but I would also like to discuss more before we head out” he just wanted me to come back home so we could have a conversation before they left.
