After the elevator doors closed, I re-entered the office closing the door behind me and locking it up so that I could have a few more mins to myself as I wrote a letter to Billy and found a way to get it to him which I knew the perfect place to put it. I wrote the letter quickly and closed my eyes balancing my breathing with focusing on the room I had been prisoner in for a few weeks until Billy learned to trust me. I slowly entered my dream state bubble and made my way to the bedroom and slowly reached out placing the letter on the pillow hoping he would find it. Christmas was only a couple days away and I wanted him to have a special Christmas getting to reconnect with his sister and thanking him for trusting me enough to let me go even though I broke the promise of coming back to him. “I will cherish the time we spent together and hope we get to do it again soon including with JJ who I already miss along with missing you. –Mia.” I didn’t want to make the letter to sappy but wanted him to know that he would be in my thoughts and would be with him in his heart as I thought about him each day until we saw one another again. There was a sharp knock on my office door and my father and grandfather’s voice loudly coming through it “OPEN THE DOOR RIGHT NOW YOUNG LADY” my grandfather gruff tone only made me laugh even though I was sure he meant for it to be scary.
10 mins later I heard my mother’s soulful voice coming through the door and knew it was time to face the music since my father was now playing dirty since he grabbed my mother who he knew I’d let in. “Fine…. Relax I’m coming right now” I sighed getting up from my chair after getting my thoughts in check. I opened the door and my mother stood there looking as though she had aged years in just a month or so and her visible relaxation was visible to everyone around her which were just my father, grandfather, grandmother, and little brother. “I’m sorry for making you all worry but mother knew I was fine and still can see now with her own eyes that I’m perfectly fine… minus the little things I’m still healing from since I left Oxford, and well you pretty much all know the rest” I half smiled letting them into the room. My mother immediately handed over Giovanni, “Meet your big sister… she will be with us now until she decides whether she’s going back to school in Oxford or finally coming home” now she was playing dirty and with pure attitude behind it.
Giovanni looked at me as though he already knew who I was and didn’t even cry considering I was a nervous wreck not really ready to hold a baby who was so little. “Hey little…bro…nice to see you without all that goo on you and not in just feeding mode…” I whispered looking at him. My parents and grandparents just stood back letting me and Giovanni have a moment by ourselves which was magical as I closed my eyes, and we were having our own powerful moment together. Giovanni had created a bubble around us as he opened his eyes and touched my face and with that touch I saw what he wanted me to see which was that of me and Billy over coming everything and growing into great friends. I propped Giovanni up a little more so I could see him better and looked into his eyes as he was looking into mine and I knew I would protect him at all costs. I hugged him close to my chest and loving his fresh baby smell which was also smelling like breast milk and my mother which made me feel a little weird. I moved closer to my mother giving her back her son and wanting to get a little more time before having to face whoever was in the house.
Looking at my parents and grandparents I took in a deep breath before speaking “So do we really have to do all this tonight since right now I just need to rest and get my thoughts straight and figure out what I need to do next to make sure I’m giving my client the very best…” “Your client… don’t you mean your kidnapper? You’re lucky I am even doing this, but since all the evidence is compelling and has, me intrigued not to mention this young man is broken and I don’t blame you for wanting to see this through. I will let you stay on the case as long as you promise to stay here and not vogue out of here in the way…. well damn it you know what I mean” my father was irritated now. I couldn’t promise him but agreed to stay as long as Billy stayed safe and everyone would leave him alone. “When it’s time I will call him and have him meet us, but until than he’s off limits….no trying to figure out where he is because I made sure that was impossible and he is very smart. As you are aware, he has been living out of reach for years. Just know that if something happens to him, I will never forgive any of you” I warned them all as I sat back down behind the desk.
My grandfather saw me wince as I slowly sat down and immediately came to my side wanting to check me out “I’m fine…. My ribs are still a little sore, but they are pretty much healed. I have been working out every day and sparing with Billy… also my other wound is fine but could be looked at if you don’t mind?” I asked pulling my shirt up and off. My grandfather did a quick once over not happy that I had bruises and marks on me even though I already told him it was due to sparing and not abuse from Billy. “You really should be checked out with a full CT and make sure there is nothing else going on that I physically can’t see….I know that you are not just going to go willingly, but I swear if I see anything I don’t like….I don’t care how much you hate me after but I will have your team man handle you” he warned and I smiled knowing he was not lying. I stared at them all as they were waiting for me to finally get my butt up and join the rest of our guests, downstairs who had been waiting for a very long time to see me. I was sure it would not be a nice visit at first, but I did hope they would understand to an extent even though I knew I owed my parents a lot more than I owed anyone else.
By 5pm I had no other choice but to face the music but wanted it done on my own terms. “Are you ready for your first visitors?” my father asked coming back up to the office just as I was finishing up my thesis paper and sending it to my professor of chemistry. I looked up just in time to see Catherine, Asher, Nicholas and Jose come barging in. “You sure have some balls to have us all worried and especially your mother and she gave birth early because of it…” “Whoa now that’s a lie since she was already on bed rest and I was here the moment she went into labor and I mean as Gio was on his way out of the womb” I was now defending myself as Jose was in my face. Nicholas had me looking at him next as he sat down so quiet and just staring at me as though he was reading me and reading my body language all the way around but confused how I could be so calm. Asher was sitting next to Nicholas and just looking at me as though he was disappointed. I chose to ignore him since I didn’t care what he thought all though Catherine was the one who made the energy in the room just about the highest level possible. “OH CATHERINE, JUST STOP IT OK I FEEL YOU JUDGING ME AND IT’S NOTHING NEW… SO YOU ALL CAN CHILL THE FUCK OUT. I AM HERE FOR WELL THAT DEPENDS ON WHAT HAPPENS NEXT WITH BILLY’S CASE” I shouted.
