Book 2: In the Life of Mia: College: Chapter 22
Sharene was there looking in the room and her expressions on her face spoke volumes. "Seriously I'm going to need your help mommy, keep her out for right now... I really can't deal with any fighting right now and this pain is really getting to me so if you could have your house manager make me some tea and give me another of those natural supplements..." "You've got it honey... as for you Ethan lets go seriously" she was now holding my fathers’ hand and showing him out. I called Logan who was about to call me when he picked up the phone and sounded so not himself. "Yes, I just found out myself and I'm so sorry.... does anyone know anything? How are her parents holding up if I dare even ask.." Logan did his best not to cry and told me what he knew. “All I’ve been told is that she was on her bike and was struck by a car. She had seemed different the last few weeks though and I guess maybe something with her family? Shoot Mia I don’t know she never really talked about it much you know that. Shoot you seemed closer to her than all of us and…. Ugh I don’t know” he was completely at a loss for words. It was a good hour conversation and the only thing that was for sure was that it was foul play. "Her parents are at her place trying to find things that she didn't have on her body that she usually carried. It's so crazy though because we just left her at the library not 20 mins before. We had been talking about you too and how we all missed you and couldn't wait for you to get back. She seemed to be more excited that you'd be coming home in a couple of days and if you ask me even had a little crush on you... ha but there are a lot of people we've met in the last few months that would love to get even as close as we are to you. Anyways I better go I am exhausted and promised to come home and nap before helping Violina's parents with cleaning her apartment and finding the things they are looking for" he sighed and I knew he needed to get some rest.
After I had ended the call, I sat just trying to wrap my head around the fact that Violina was actually gone and why. "I have to do something..... but what? is there a way to talk with her now that she's gone and where is she on the other side? I don't get how it works... I feel obligated to help after the few things she's told me about the guy she used to be with who became really possessive over in only 6 months of dating. Damn it this is not what I need right now I have to try and focus on this lunch!" I bitch to the family on the other side who was listening. "Go, you can't do anything right now anyways baby girl, we'll all talk about this later and when I mean later that means when you are in the air" my grandfather Zeus said with a matter of fact tone. "Ok... just whatever you all can do to help me with this would be great...." I got up from the bench completely numb not sure why bad things had to happen to such amazing people. I unlocked the office door and headed out and was happy that the hall was clear of people. "Bailey... Lola where you two at... my lunch appointment is in 30 mins and it'll take 30 just to get there...." I yelled down the hall. I was happy to find that the only people around was the security detail. "Ok I'll go pull the suburban out front, you should let them all know you're leaving. They are all walking the property and showing off the guesthouse now that it's complete. Baby Madeline is sleeping in the other room in her swing with Lola watching her" Bailey informed me.
My mothers’ house manager came up handing me now warm tea and her miracle pill. "Hi Mia your mother said you'd need this but to leave it here for you, sorry it's now warm tea instead of hot" she gives me half a smile. "Awww thanks and warm is fine.... Mrs. Juneson and if you could possibly let me in on the secret of the pill and where to get some for me to take back to school..." "Oh honey way ahead of you there and picked you up a bottle today while I was out. However, like I said they are specially made for the people they are for" she laughed handing me a bag. "You can't just get them anywhere so when you are about to run outlet mom know and I'll have some shipped..." she rubbed my arm. My mother always employed the most genuine and kind people that I hoped I would be ever so lucky. Bailey was waiting out front for me and Lola who was now holding baby Madeline. "Hey, I'm going to let them all know we are leaving so you ready to put her down so we can head out?" I asked giving her a sweet smile heading to the back-sliding door. I did not even need to call very far out to my parents who were heading up the pathway from the guest house. "I was just coming to find you all, I'm heading out for my lunch meeting. I will see you all when I get back..." "Whoa wait one min... you didn't say anything.." "mother not now please I'm already running late and don't have time for this" I cut her off quickly not needing the stress.
Sharene and my mother both were looking at me for answers and I was not about to get into it with them. "Ladies.... I'm not doing this right now I have way too much on my mind and I have to go.." looking at them and then to my father as they all came in after me through the door. Sharene looked to be getting pissed and just rolled my eyes "Madeline is up and Lola is holding her... or was when I came looking for everyone. Now if you'll all excuse me I really do need to go..." even as my phone started to vibrate. I pulled it out of my pocket and looked down seeing that it was Michelle texting telling me that they were only 15 mins away. "Shoot... ok I really, really, have to go now.." I look up from the phone. My mother and Sharene were the only 2 still standing there. "Well.... should I even ask if I can be your lunch date... I mean it's not too smart to go to lunch with Max and his parents.. regardless if your security team is there or not..." Sharene whispered into my ear softly. I knew than that my father must have told her and probably my mother by now. "If you are coming go give Madeline a kiss because she's staying here. Then go get in the suburban with Lola and Bailey and I'll be there in a min, if you are not out there before me I am leaving without you" I whispered harshly back into her ear.
Sharene did not argue with me and did what I asked while I hugged my mother letting out my held in emotions as I cried. "It's sometimes too much.... I'm only 19 I guess I'm starting to understand what being a real adult is all about.. how about we rewind the last 19 and I can climb back in the womb and never come out.." we all start laughing. My phone buzzed again and now knew I had to put everything back in check. "Alright I really have to go now mama, I love you...." I kissed her cheek and wiped my face putting away all my emotional baggage once more. Sharene was in the suburban waiting for me along with Bailey and Lola and I hopped in as I answered my ringing cell phone from a private number “hello, may I ask who this is please” I said before letting the person on the other end say a word. I was surprised to hear that it was Nicholas and could not hear him very well but was so happy to hear his voice regardless. “I just wanted to give you a quick call and say happy belated birthday… I do not have long to talk but I wanted to make sure I got a call in to you now. Hope you are doing well baby girl and I will try and call you in a few days love you.. bye” he hung up before I could even get another word in.
