After a few more mins and trying to get as much as I could about what happened I stood and shook her hand and looked her in her eyes as she was almost as tall as me. "Hmm very interesting.... I'll make sure to notify you if I find anything out of place... and again my offer stands..." I whispered and she rose a brow as though she was not sure what I was saying. I gave her a half a smile before walking out the door between Bailey and Lola who were now on extra guard along with Paxton and Lexi who looked everywhere but at me. The moment I got back in the truck my cell phone was buzzing up a storm which told me that I had probably missed calls that were from my friends and family. "Damn it, did anyone call home to tell them we made it safe and sound..." "Yes ma'am but we also told them that you were not able to talk at the moment and would have you call the moment you were available to do so" Bailey said handing me my cell from the front. Sharene was calling on my Facetime from my iPad next to me while my parents were trying to reach me on my cell phone at the same time. "Mom, Dad I'm fine... give me one second I need to answer Sharene on the iPad so just hold on" I hurried to answer Sharene muting them, before they could cut me off. "Sharene.... calm down baby I'm here I'm safe just had some unexpected things to take care of before getting a chance to get home....." "O---M--G you have me over..... here with my heart racing.... Madeline is already in bed she was fussy all day...," "Mia.... hello, answer us please" my father yelled out.
My whole ride back to my house I was trying to calm everyone down at the same time which became almost impossible. "Bailey put my parents on the car speaker" I asked almost horseless. I knew by my voice it was not a good sign to even continue on with the conversations but needed to calm them all down and had a good 45 mins to do so. My parents were clear and loud in the speaker with Sharene even pulling back as I turned her down and had Bailey turn my parent's' volume down at the same time. "OK.... please all 3 of you listen because I'm not saying it.... again... I've been busy talking with the police for the last 2 hours... I am tired and now my voice is hoarse which only means one thing which is not a good thing at all as we all know. So now we are headed back to my place so I can shower and change before my first class in just a few hours, good thing I got a good 8 hours of sleep on the flight since I'll be up now until I get home from my last class around 4pm. Dad I am good relax I answered the questions and also had Bailey record the whole things so..." "Damn it Mia... not the point... you should have called me before you walked in..." "I'm not doing this with you father....I'm not an idiot and have a damned good lawyer if I need you I'll call" I was becoming overwhelmed and made the decision to just hang up.
I did not want to fight with anyone when I was already heading for a lost voice and would not be able to do anything but let it take its course. "Shar baby I'm sorry about earlier today... ummm yesterday... I hated leaving that way, but you refused to come down and I would have never left if I would have come up to you. I missed you and princess Maddie the moment the front door closed and I truly wanted to say fuck it all, give up my dreams and stay with all of you... which is not to say you are not part of my dreams... just that I have to follow my heart and the plans I set forth for myself before you and Maddie came along" I was doing my best not to set her off or myself as our, emotions were so raw still. Sharene was crying from time to time only getting out a few sentences at a time, "I'm the one...who is sorry... I was just... I miss you so much... I love you...god do I love you.... I had a dream of us... and in the dream I had met Katherine and Amelia who are so beautiful... I just wish it could be real..." she cried out losing it and curled up in the bed and covering us in a blanket even her head. It had taken me a full 45 mins to get Sharene to finally calm down and let me go when I got home, and she was now exhausted. "I promise to be there in your dreams when you finally fall asleep ok... I'm glad you dreamt that. I dream of them often enough to know how beautiful they are, and even imagine who they'd be, what they'd be when they grew up. Anyways angel mine I'm in the house now and I have got to get a shower and look over a few things before I get to relax a bit before classes... I love you and think about me ok because the more you do the more, I'll be able to feel you" I point to my heart.
Sharene had finally let me go now that I had been in the house and it had been all checked and safe and was heading for a shower. “Be good baby…” I whispered now using a softer tone with my voice getting worse and hung up before she could say anything in return. I was showered and ready for class by 6:30 giving myself extra time to search the house and make sure that there was truly nothing missing or something out of place. I searched a good 45 mins with nothing out of sorts and settled down letting the chef I had asked to help me for a few days once I was back home so I could get back into my routine could prepare my breakfast and smoothie now that I was ready for something to be put into my stomach. I downed the smoothie and waited for my eggs and turkey bacon as I relaxed my head back against the cushion and the moment, I closed my eyes I sighed with relief. “Mia honey…. I know you are exhausted, but this isn’t just going to go away like we were hoping..” “Especially now that she’s involved in the case…. Leona is a descendant of our family line with abilities. The moment she shook your hand she was able to vibe you and knows there is something different about you, and that you might be holding something back” my grandfathers were back and forth making my head spin.
The pain in my head was becoming almost too much to handle until I popped a pill and focused on my here and now and not what could come tomorrow or the next day. “I just need to get better now that my voice is weak once again…. As for Valdez I’ll deal with her if I need to, I guess she’s another giant of us and it must be a hit or miss when we are born” trying to get them to just give me a little time to get back to my life as they were still very much around. I had started to hear my mother’s voice telling me to be careful and not to do anything stupid or heroic “Please don’t make us worry more then we already do having you so far away from home.” I grinned and promised her I’d be good “Things do happen though so just pray that no one else pulls me into something. Only saying that because your father and grandfather just told me that DC Valdez is one of our descendants and felt something when she shook my hand earlier” I laughed opening my eyes to my name. I took the plate that was handed to me and ate the breakfast that was made thanking the chef for not over doing it. I decided that if I was going to make it through the first week back and not actually lose my voice completely I needed to call Greta for her recipe and Dr. Owens for his special medication combo as well.
