Book 2: In the Life of Mia: College Chapter 103
A month later Billy was a free man of all charges of murder with only having to do a minimal of a 1000 hours of community service, anger management, extensive therapy but was for all intense purposes free. The only thing now that he needed to do was watch the trial against his family which would be the hardest thing for him. Leona had talked with London a few days after everything was taken care of in the US and had told us that they wanted Billy taken into custody for the possible connection with Violina's death. She had already been back home in Oxford for a little over a 3 weeks and knew that he'd get away with the murder since they still had nothing on him not even video of him in the pub with Violina the few times they had been there together. The only thing they had was eyewitness accounts that said they looked to be in-love and did not imagine that he would kill her. Maureen, Billy, my parents, and I had gone back to Oxford to be there with Billy when he went into custody and making sure they both and security along with our whole family. After landing the police including Leona took him into custody and I knew Leona would keep him safe for what it was worth, and I hated not being able to go with him.
Bailey got us all in the SUVs and headed towards my new Safe Haven along with Maureen who would be staying with us along with my father's team who was with him, my mother, and baby Giovanni. "I hate that I won't see him or talk to him until he's been processed" Maureen cried as we snuggled close together. "I know but at least he's doing it and willing to do what's necessary to make sure that Violina's death was not just something he meant to do. We have the best doctors in the world doing evaluations on him and we know by all the other evidence and things from the other cases that he was acting out of character. So just relax ok, I have faith that we'll all get through this and he'll get the help he needs and he's only 29 he still has his whole life ahead of him" I whispered to her and thanked God that my parents where in another vehicle. Bailey had been looking at me as though I were a stranger when I told her what I thought and how I thought things would go. "Ladies, for what it's worth I hope he comes out of this one" he said even though the sincerity did not touch his eyes. I looked at him and rolled my eyes, but Maureen thanked him anyways even though she was not stupid either.
JJ had come with us on the plane and stayed close to me which made Billy comfortable along with my security who was there. "JJ you are a good pup, and your daddy will come back to you I promise" I whispered petting his head as it was resting on the center armrest between Maureen and I. "He's very attached to you as well, and God forbid anything happen to my brother I think JJ would make a great guard dog for you here" Maureen admitted even though Billy wanted her to keep him if something should happen to him. The ride was a short one as we were pulling up outside a large metal gate with armed guards and bushes that hid whatever it was that was behind the gates and thick brush. "We have arrived and I hope you like it because it has everything in it that you'd need, plus it's part a surprise that I uncovered while looking for a place for you. Which is also the reason it took so damn long to get since I had to get the proper paperwork and proof" Bailey was smiling ear to ear which had me confused even more.
The property looked like it had not been touched in years, but the house was a Victorian style looking home that was fantastic and something I could have only dreamed about. "So, this is very amazing and what did you mean it took so long to obtain or whatever. Was it abandoned or something was there a damned murder that took place" I could not keep the sarcasm out of my tone which had me chuckling under my breath. Bailey stopped just feet from the doors "Ha-ha not funny Mia, but no let's just go in and I'll show you and your mother... you have someone waiting as well who will verify everything and as for the surprise this is a home that has been in your family for centuries and was even an orphanage at one time. It's considered a historic landmark, I did a little research after ummm well you know and I'm sorry for my actions after you told me and Lola and I'm not leaving nor would I ever since you are now stuck with me. So, lets’ get you inside safe and sound along with Ms. Miles here" he smiled looking down at my stomach where JJ kept his head and to Maureen who was still in her own head.
It was hard for me to believe that he had done so much for me and even researched this out and took the time to get papers in order to prove I was the rightful owner along with my mother who couldn't believe her eyes. "My mother used to tell me stories of this place.... we never visited though because of some reason or another which I figured was just because it held bad memories for her as a child or something. I'm not seeing a whole other reason why and just wow" she was in complete shock as we walked in. Bailey and Ralph had our things taken to our rooms giving my parents the biggest after I told him too and wanted somewhere quiet since the house was bigger than even Leona's. My mother, Giovanni and I met with the lady in the study who had tea waiting for us and all our papers that would put all the pieces together and the history of the property. She did not look like she was too, happy at all and when we greeted her, she was less than friendly. "Please..... have a seat... I'll need your passports, and other papers that the two men said you'd have in your possession.." she was so rude and reminded me of a lady from a movie "MRS. HATCHET...." I whispered to my mother who could not hold back her laugh that caused her to splutter hot tea all over the front of her and my brother.
45 mins later Mrs. Victoria Hemmingway was signing off on all the appropriate documents releasing the property from the historic society and into our hands. "I'm not sure why you are being so rude lady but it's our families right to take over since we were denied it and never told it was ours to begin with. As you can see from all the papers and wills that were passed down that this is our home now. There will be changes as of what we are able to do since it was a historic landmark and all, but if I wanted to I could tear this place down and rebuild so just remember that as you get the FUCK out of my house!" snapped when the lady pushed the papers at me ticking me off. My mother sucked in a harsh breath not appreciating the way I spoke to the woman but didn't say a word until after she had left with the security making sure she was outside the gate and not lurking around. "Mia darling, I know that all this is stressing you out, but that was so uncalled for...." "Mother your right I’m stressing out and have class in the morning so if you don't mind, I really need to get settled in and have a look around. I am probably not going to get much rest since after all this place is so new to me and you know how I am in new places" I cut her off knowing if I did not she would just continue on lecturing me.
A few mins later I was shown to my room by Lola who couldn't believe the house and how much space it had "Damn girl you have it all...now anyways I wanted to let you know that the Candice is about 3 weeks out of finishing the project back home and will call when it's done. She is hoping you'll be coming back to check it out around spring break, told her I'd call her back or leave it to you to do it. Oh yes and you have messages waiting for you on your cell phone, I know you told me to answer and take messages, but they are private and so are the text messages. However one more thing Sharene is still wanting you to call her back she called my cell a few mins ago and wanted to make sure we all made it here safe" Lola relayed everything passing along all the messages. I had appreciated my whole team as they had truly kept me safe and my secret even though I knew I would need to tell my parents and Billy sooner rather than later. I had finally let the other side in knowing they would eventually figure it out and of course they had known the moment my little peanut made himself known to them. They had wanted me to be safe about everything now that I had a new life on board and a new heir to our family line who would be there along with Giovanni who would help mold and shape the family to come.
