Book 2: In the Life of Mia: College Chapter 95
Catherine and Sharene were like deer caught in head lights as they both sucked up the men’s love for one another and how they showed it in their little touches and kisses. “Good to know that you are all doing so well, and Catherine so happy for you too that you found your soulmate who adores you and gives you the attention you need. I just want you all to be happy and with someone who treats you the way everyone deserves to be treated and loved. I know I have not been the greatest of friends and I know that no matter how many times I apologize you all still need time to heal on your own time” my friends had all seemed to hear me even though their expressions where that of “Ya we’ve heard this before” I knew that as long as I was honest and sincere that my heart and feelings were justified enough for me to be able to sleep better at night. Sharene had stayed relaxed not saying a whole lot while we all hung out, leaving Catherine to take a lot of the talking up as she wanted to talk wedding plans and all new things Catherine and Asher.
We all listened to Catherine go on and on about everything new in her life and how school was going and thinking about changing her major for the 3rd time since the first time the 4 of us had sat down to discuss it. “I just have a lot to think about this next semester and no one is pressuring me except my own expectations for myself and my future” she admits as she lays back against the pillows with Sharene and I. I was happy that my friends and my ex-lover had gotten so close while had I been away, and I was sure I was the topic of conversations a lot and how selfish I was. “I’m just glad the 2 of you have been able to play nice and really get to know one another, I hope that never changes as strong females as your self deserve to have that bond and connection” I smile when the two of them just glare at me. “Hmm ya it’s been good, usually we end up drunk calling each other when we are available, and it’s been real, good” Catherine smiles at Sharene who smiles right back. “I’m so happy to have these connections that I never thought I’d ever have with no, only a real female friend, but a close family that loves me and my Maddie as if we truly belonged” she was starting to get all emotional.
Before we had finished out little break together we had all been emotional and I hated that we were all getting a little too deep so when we were interrupted by Savannah and Bruce I jumped at the exit opportunity. “Now who’s coming to join us outside and get in some real fun and games…?” Bruce had taunted us all, but I had been out the door within seconds. Just about everyone was now outside including the older adults who had been loving on the new addition to the family. “There you all are….. I now owe
Bruce money thanks a lot…. I was sure that he wouldn’t be able to get you all out here and yet here ya’ll are….in record time too” my father Ethan smiled. “Good to know that you gamble with your brother especially when it comes to your own child just to see if you can get me to participate in whatever this all this” I wave my hand across the back yard. The family had set up all different kinds of things to do from volleyball, to bags, and lawn darts with yard bowling which were mostly had the older adults at. The volleyball and bags had been left for us younger adults as we were pretty competitive when it came to anything sports related.
The house staff had our Christmas dinner laid out on the popup tables in the yard leaving it as an outdoor buffet and opening it a little after 4pm for whoever was hungry. We all pigged out until we could hardly move a muscle and enjoyed every min of it as we headed inside to relax and enjoy the rest of Christmas before everyone started to head off in different directions. My parents had made sure I spent time with my brother along with Madelina as they thought I needed that innocent kind of connections before I headed off back to school. I had already made up my mind that I would be returning to Oxford once my vacation was through, and I was sure my parents knew it without me having to tell them. The 3 of us had laid on the floor relaxing and enjoying the small talk around our small this area with Giovanni sleeping most of the time and Madelina just snuggling. Madeline’s looks at times seemed like she was sizing up everyone in the room and even enjoying the soft whispers of conversations that kept her wide awake. “I sure am going to miss the two of you….. but at least you have each other to hang out with and before you know it Gio will be big enough for you to play with. Now just remember to both continue to grow nice and strong for me ok and remember I’m always with you no matter how far away I am!” Giovanni had made some grunting noises while Madeline just smiled at me.
The 3 of us had found ourselves falling asleep as our food continued to digest and as I got into a deeper sleep, I felt the 2 be moved from my side leaving me chilly. I turned and groaned with the loss of the warmth that was replaced with another warm object but this time it was wrapped around me. “MMM….” I groaned out enjoying the comfort whatever it might have been. My relatives had all let me relax and enjoy my nap even though they had things they wanted to say but knew they would have plenty of time later. Ethan had still been far from my dream stream and thoughts as he was still furious with me. “I just don’t understand how he can be so crazy about all this….I mean am I wrong when it comes to being here on the other side…. That everyone is always happy and put together…yet he’s acting like he’s me now with a huge stick up his has farther than I’ve ever had one in my ass…” as curious as I had been about what made everyone the way they were on the other side including still having issues and not happy all the time.
My parents had both woken me up when I had slept long enough, and it was now time to be up with everyone as they were still there. “Come on lets’ get you up sweet heart….you need to at least be a good host and see everyone before they all head out” my mother whispered softly into my ear. I groaned as I rolled over and stretched and almost rolled onto whoever had been wrapped around me. Sharene’s soft voice had groaned “Hey….you are going to kill me….” She jokes with a soft giggle. I frown and stretch a little more after slowly moving until I was flat on my back “Well next time maybe warn me that you are back there….and how long have you been there if I dare ask?” my body was aching after being on the floor for only Gods knew how long. The room was empty leaving just Sharene and I together alone which I was sure that is how my parents had wanted it. “Well sorry for not warning you, but you were passed out from a food coma and once my parents and yours picked up the kids and everyone had left the room…. I took a chance that you’d stay sleeping while I curled up with you and got some of my Christmas wish. I guess thank you since I was surprised you didn’t wake up until your mother woke us” she smiled and feeling pretty proud that she had been able to pull it off.
After getting up from my nap it had been pretty empty around the house with everyone here and there as my parents gave Giovanni a bath and put him down for the night while everyone else had been off doing their own thing. Sharene’s parents and in laws had decided they would give Madeline a bath too putting her down in the guest room where hey had been sleeping for the last few days. “I guess that says it all….” Sharene half smiles as she comes back down the hall. I frowned not sure what she was getting at “What…. Is there a problem?” I ask as I am relaxing in the living room with Bruce and my grandparents. Sharene sighed as she took a seat in the oversized stuff chair “No I guess not… I just had wanted to get going, but my parents and in laws had other plans….looks like we are staying one more night.” My grandparents had smiled, but kept their thoughts to themselves while Bruce was very loud about it all “Seems to me that they gave the two of you one more night together….don’t you think that is a good thing…? Mia what about you….are you happy about the fact that you get to have this beauty stay one more night?” he smiles at us both.
Sharene was a little irritated about the whole thing “Not that I didn’t want to stay, but I have a busy schedule coming up and just wanted….never mind one more night isn’t going to kill me and I can still do what I had planned on doing from my laptop tonight anyway” I had felt bad that our families were trying to push each other back towards one another when we both had other things on our minds. “I’m sorry that you are stuck here again for one more night, but maybe it’s meant to be since that gives you both one more night to hang out with this crazy brood before you head off to wherever!” I had hoped she would feel better the more the night went on. Catherine, and Asher had found their way back into the small intimate living room joining us and looking like they just got fresh from a shower for the night too. “We are so happy to get to spend one more night with all of you before we head back to California…” Nicholas and Jose were right behind her and Asher. “We agree, even though it’ll be an early morning this gives us all one more night to really get to spend together and reminisce if you want that is?” Nicholas looked so hopeful that I would want to have a night of it with him and our friends.
