Chapter 28
Once we found our parents, I ran to them as though I had not seen them in years or something and hugged them tight and knew it was not just me but Ethan too. “Love you both, happy birthday mommy” it had been Ethan now talking through for us. I wasn't too sure how my parents were feeling when Ethan and I hugged them and after hearing myself whisper to them "It's no one's fault that Ethan is no longer here. He loves you both so much and all he wants is for us to be a family and happy again." I was not even sure if it was me saying it or Ethan who had stepped into me and took over me for a moment. My father finally let me go letting my mother wrap her arms completely around me and sobbed letting all her guards down. To top it off doing it in front of everyone, I stood strong taking most of my mother’s weight as she became weaker the more, she cried. She finally buried her face in my chest as my father wrapped a towel around my shoulders. "Ok mother, how about we put a smile on that face of yours and get this party started? We have a big crowd of guests who are doing their best not to stare. We can pick this all up later I promise, plus if you want the good Dr. medium is here and I’m sure she'd love to get to do some readings" I whispered into my mother’s ear not wanting others to hear me.
My mother finally wiped her eyes and nose on the towel, stepped back and looked up at me with hope, fear, but most of all unconditional love. I had not seen my mother so open and raw before which actually made me tighten up and raise my walls up immediately. I was not sure why since I'd always done my best to keep the walls from forming. Ethan was near again knowing I would need him for support even though I had my parents and my friends near me. "It must be a twin thing" I thought to myself and even gave a little giggle thinking about all the times in the past and now even at the present that he might have seen or heard. My parents both smiled as I turned away and let our guests in to join us in our moment showing that I was happy for the moment. "Thank you all for being here for my mother on her special day, and there for all the 3 of us whenever we need a friend. Most of all thank you mother for always being here when I need you the most, happy birthday!" I smiled letting it really touch my heart, though my thoughts were somewhere else.
A few minutes later I got the party started with music playing with the Capt. and the crew starting the yacht so we could sail around the island. Before heading out to the coral that was about an hour away. I wanted to make sure to make the day special and peaceful for everyone but most of all my parents who had disappeared alone. I hoped that they were making up but did not know if it would be for them or for the benefit of me who had seemed to be losing her mind. When everyone seemed to be looking bored, I tried to think of something anything as I was always the outgoing girl. I could turn a day of boredom to a party or at least not boring and that is exactly what I hoped to accomplish. "Ok so we have a lot of things we can do before we get to the reef for all those who don't like scuba diving or snorkeling. Looks like this yacht has a lot to offer. They have an inflatable pool like thing that we can put out that keeps us from being stung by the jelly fish or any other fish that might sting. Then we have a pool table inside in the gaming room, golf on the green, and then we also have our very own medium for those who would want a reading. We have plenty of liquor, beer, wine whatever floats your boat and since we have about what 20 guests here with us, we can split up and do whatever you want" I informed them all with a smile hoping that I could get them all to participate in something.
After telling them what there was to do, I had let the crew show everyone around while I went to the bar and helped make up some new drinks that I came up with. "Damn girl these are awesome... but we should think about giving them a choice, we don't want to kill the old timers!" Nicholas suggested with a laugh as he joined me while Jose and Catherine had taken the tour. "Well, they are not that strong, and these oldies can drink like fishes. I've known most of them all my life, of course not sure on Greta's children since I have not really seen them a lot. So, here is a question, what do you think my parents are doing alone? I mean don't be dirty about it because it'd be simply weird for me to even hear...ha-ha but if they are getting their freak on, I hope they are being smart and using protection..." I stopped when Nicholas looked at me open mouthed. "OMG.... could you imagine if your mother got prego and you had another sibling?" Nicholas muttered in such a low tone I wasn't sure if I heard him correctly.
The thought crossed my mind in horror having a little brother or sister and being as old as I was "FUCK! dude... wasn't even thinking that but shit you're right, I mean 37 is still young..." I cannot even finish what I was saying as I could hear people laughing and getting closer to us. I turned as the group of our friends walked into the lounge. Nicholas handed them all the drinks I’d made and happy to see that none of them had turned them down. "WOW...." "OMG these are fantastic" "I second that..." "Me too..." there were rounds of comments and thanks and well done from the guests which made me feel good. Catherine of course was not surprised at their reactions as she blew me a kiss and a wink which told me she liked or maybe even loved them too. My parents finally joined us an hour later with guests all over the yacht and having a good time with the new drinks and throwing back shots I had come up with too. I had made sure to keep them entertained while they had disappeared to, wherever for whatever. "Well nice to see the two of you finally, we have people all over the place doing whatever they felt like doing. Plus keeping them well hydrated with booze and water, now if you both would like something to drink tell me your poison or you can dare to be cool and try a few more new drinks. That of course I came up with that everyone seems to like" I shrugged with a great big smile.
My father Ethan smiled "Well my beautiful daughter I'd love a cool new drink and thank you for stepping up and keeping our friends entertained" his tone was one I wasn't familiar with. I could hear the love, longing, and beauty behind his tone which ignited the longing in my soul. It wasn’t hard for anyone to notice my mother clinging to him as though he were her lifeline or floatation device. "Mother... you ok want some wine, or would you like to have a shot or two to take the edge off?" I asked in a weary tone. My mother stepped up closer and didn't say anything at first just looked at me like I was a stranger almost or something else that I couldn't pin-point. It got my back up just enough to stiffen and my heart started to pound in my chest as we both just stared into one another's eye. "OPEN.....UP" a voice came through my ears and I immediately obeyed letting the walls down slowly and in walked my mother’s soul at least that is what it felt like.
