Chapter 129 Hilda's Expansion
The two sides were in a heated argument.
Business negotiations were like this; one couldn't expect to persuade the other party immediately. It required lengthy negotiations, struggles, and compromises to reach a result that both parties were relatively satisfied with.
Two hundred million was not a small amount.
Given the strength of Penguin Company, it was not easy to shell out a billion in cash flow all at once, so they should save whatever they could.
Moreover, Benjamin got a commission on the money saved. For every hundred million saved for the company, Benjamin got a million in commission. Naturally, Benjamin was doing his utmost to drive the price down!
But Hilda wanting to make more money was not wrong either.
Both sides were very patient.
After all, they had just started negotiating.
Just as neither side was willing to back down, Hilda's phone vibrated.
Yet she ignored it.
But then Hilda's phone vibrated several more times in quick succession.
She immediately knew that someone might be urgently trying to contact her.
"Benjamin, I'm suddenly feeling a bit unwell. I need to go to the restroom!" Hilda suddenly said to Benjamin.
Benjamin was taken aback and said, "Alright, I could use a break too."
Hilda gave Benjamin an apologetic look and walked out of the conference room.
Benjamin didn't stay there either; he went to the smoking room next door to have a cigarette.
In the restroom, Hilda checked her phone and saw that Kevin had called her.
And he had called over a dozen times.
At that moment, Hilda's phone vibrated again.
Hilda knew Kevin might have something extremely urgent, so she quickly answered the call.
"Kevin, did anything happen at the company?" Hilda asked.
"Hilda, you haven't successfully negotiated with Penguin Company yet, have you?" Kevin asked anxiously.
"No," Hilda replied, "Penguin Company sent Benjamin. Benjamin is very stingy. To get an extra two hundred million from him, we need to be prepared for a long-term struggle! This kind of long-term struggle could take a month at the quickest, or three to four months at the slowest!"
Hilda wasn't in a hurry because being in a hurry wouldn't help.
"Hilda, now you can ask for two billion!" Kevin couldn't contain his excitement and laughed. "Check Twitter's trending topics, and you'll understand! Our Shark platform is not the same as before! We have a big user on our Shark platform!"
"Hold on a second." Hilda hung up the phone, opened the trending topics, and after looking at it for a while and checking the related links and videos, she smiled.
Her smile grew brighter and brighter.
She couldn't help but wave her arms!
Immediately, Hilda called Kevin back.
"Is this Boring Surf your marketing ploy, or is there really such a fool?" Hilda asked, "A fool who tipped two hundred million on a live stream?"
Kevin said, "This isn't my marketing; there really is such a fool! This fool gave two hundred million, which is incredibly helpful for our Shark platform. Our platform's ability to attract money and traffic will increase significantly. One billion for 25% of our shares? Impossible! We want two billion!"
Hilda excitedly said, "Yes, exactly! This super-rich Boring Surf has epoch-making significance for our Shark platform, no, even for our entire live streaming industry! Our Shark platform is going to thrive, and we're going to make a fortune!"
"Yes, we're going to make a fortune!" Kevin said, "The golden age for you and me is coming!"
Hilda returned to the conference room.
This time, she was more confident.
She changed from her previous humble attitude to a very arrogant one.
Benjamin found it very strange. How did Hilda become so arrogant after just a trip to the restroom? Did Hilda have some sort of epiphany in there?
Hilda sat in the chair with an arrogant look.
With her legs crossed, Hilda looked directly at Benjamin and said calmly, "Benjamin, we can start the negotiations now!"
Benjamin frowned at Hilda, thinking she might be crazy.
"It seems like you have figured it out?" Benjamin said coldly, "Eight hundred million. This is already the greatest sincerity from our company!"
Hilda smirked in disdain and said, "Benjamin, you want to acquire us for eight hundred million?"
Benjamin sneered. "Then how much do you want? A billion?"
Hilda shook her head and said seriously, "A billion was my previous offer, but now it's two billion!"
Benjamin was furious and stood up, shouting, "Hilda, are you out of your mind? You come back from the restroom and become so arrogant! Two billion! Why don't you go rob a bank? Golden Valley Bank is right across the street!"
"Don't get agitated." Hilda smiled slightly. "I have a reason for quoting such a high price. Our Shark platform has reached a turning point in its development! Now, a low offer is not suitable. I think two billion for 25% of the shares is already giving Penguin Company a discount!"
Benjamin snorted coldly. "What turning point does your company have that I don't know about?"
Hilda laughed. "It seems that you're so busy with negotiations that you're not aware of external information. I suggest you check Twitter's trending topics. Six out of the top ten are related to our Shark platform. I'm not a fool. If I didn't have absolute confidence, how could I dare to quote such a high price to you?"
Benjamin's heart tensed. He opened Twitter on his phone and checked the trending topics.
The matter of the super-rich Boring Surf was spreading widely on the internet, and Benjamin quickly understood the whole story of the Boring Surf incident and why Hilda dared to double the price!
A super-rich person like Boring Surf tipping two hundred million indicated what? It indicated that the Shark platform had a very promising future! Moreover, Twitter's trending topics, Wisdom Haven's headlines, Reddit's front page, and browser homepage news—all these were free attention, free advertising, and who knew how much interests they would bring to the Shark platform!
If the Shark platform was operated well, Boring Surf could indeed be considered a turning point for the Shark platform!
