Chapter 22: Persistent Pursuit
Willow was diligently doing her job.
Although Willow smoothly entered the Twin Group with Skyview's help, she didn't want to rely on Skyview and adapted to her new role as a salesperson.
Is being a salesperson a good profession?
Being in sales truly toughens people, allowing them to acquire client resources, which may be beneficial for future entrepreneurship. Many prominent bosses were initially salespeople, or at least had experience in sales. Many successful individuals often engaged in sales during their early entrepreneurial days.
However, being a salesperson is truly tough and exhausting, and basic salaries are low. If luck isn't on your side and you can't secure orders, it can be daunting.
Willow took on the role of a salesperson to toughen herself up.
Willow was currently handling business for HealthPro Medical Devices Company.
It was a small medical equipment company with total assets of around ten million dollars.
Business should have proceeded smoothly, becoming the first deal in Willow's career history. However, the fate of the company lay in Connor's hands. He was the General Manager of HealthPro Medical Devices Company.
Connor was the company's second-in-command, the boss's only son, and thus held significant power.
Whether the business succeeds now depended on Connor.
Connor was a typical playboy who enjoyed flirting with women. Upon seeing Willow, he became infatuated and decided to pursue her!
Willow was a very beautiful young woman.
She exuded a unique charm, embodying modern female independence, which was very attractive.
Despite Connor having had many girlfriends, he was still captivated by Willow.
Connor could get most women easily with his money.
However, despite Connor's various hints, Willow consistently refused him.
Connor felt daunted and exhibited extraordinary passion toward Willow since he couldn't win her over.
He decided to express his love directly to Willow.
Connor couldn't believe that as the second-in-command of HealthPro Medical Devices Company, he couldn't win over a salesperson!
Ridiculous, he refused to believe it!
On that sunny day, as Willow left the company, a black Mercedes pulled up in front of her.
Connor stepped out of the car, holding ninety-nine roses.
"Willow, there's something I've kept in my heart for a long time, and that is my affection for you!" Connor shamelessly uttered clichéd words, saying to Willow, "I've liked you for a long time! If you agree to be my girlfriend, I can fulfill all your wishes and make you the happiest woman in the world!"
To Connor, the most crucial thing in finding a girlfriend was shamelessness and relentless pursuit. He excelled in both.
Moreover, Connor considered himself a ladies' man and believed he couldn't fail.
"Mr. Mitchell, I'm sorry, but I can't accept your advances," Willow concealed her disgust and politely declined.
"Am I not handsome enough?" Connor, who didn't seem fazed, asked.
Seeing Connor's pimpled face, Willow thought that it was no one's fault for being ugly, but not realizing one's own ugliness is a grave mistake.
However, Willow was always polite and refrained from saying hurtful words. Instead, she reluctantly replied, "You're okay."
"Am I not talented enough?" Connor asked emotionally.
Willow thought to herself that his talent only existed in stories.
But Willow was a kind-hearted girl, and her current business depended on Connor, so she continued with a forced compliment, "Your talent is obvious!"
"Am I not wealthy enough?" Connor confidently inquired.
Willow was speechless, thinking that even if Connor added up all his family's assets, they wouldn't be enough to pay for her birthdays.
But Willow was polite and replied, "Mr. Mitchell, you are certainly wealthy."
"Am I not loving you too much?" Connor questioned.
Willow couldn't find the words to respond. Connor was too cliché with his romantic words!
It was nauseating! Willow felt like throwing up!
At that moment, a voice interrupted. "Let me tell you, idiot! Because you're old, ugly, poor, and foolish, Willow has no interest in you, understand?"
Following the voice, Willow saw Skyview.
Having just finished touring the company and discussing improvements with Hekka regarding Lakeview Express, Skyview encountered this scene as soon as he left the building.
In Skyview's mind, Willow was already his woman, and Connor, driving a BMW, dared to pursue Skyview's woman, which was a direct offense!
Thus, Skyview quickly came out to scold Connor.
Connor's expression darkened.
From childhood to adulthood, he had never encountered someone who dared to speak to him in such a manner.
However, Connor wasn't a fool. He carefully assessed Skyview, trying to discern his identity.
Connor's clothes were all luxury brands, including his socks.
Yet, Connor noticed that Skyview wasn't wearing any branded clothing.
Unaware that Skyview's attire came from centuries-old European workshops, tailored by top craftsmen and far superior to ordinary trendy brands, Connor assumed Skyview was just a regular pauper, dressed in cheap clothes!
"Who are you?" Connor coldly asked. "How dare you speak to me like this!"
Connor now viewed Skyview as a mere employee of the Twin Group.
"Have you never heard of my name?" Skyview asked puzzled.
"Are you famous?" Connor was taken aback, wondering if Skyview held a high status.
"Skyview? Never heard of you!" Connor sneered. "You're just a weird guy!"
"Idiot, you don't even know me!" Skyview burst into laughter.
